i thought my laptop was on its last leg because it was running at six billion degrees and using 100% disk space at all times and then i turned off shadows and some other windows effects and it was immediately cured. i just did the same to my roommate's computer and its performance issues were also immediately cured. okay. i guess.
so i guess if you have creaky freezy windows 10/11 try searching "advanced system settings", go to performance settings, and uncheck "show shadows under windows" and anything else you don't want. hope that helps someone else.

#one time when i was Very Little (probably 7 or another single digit number)#i was at a big camping event in the mountains for some reason or another. don’t even remember what happened there outside of#that we had a fire one night as you do when camping#and one of the guys (someone’s dad i might still know?) was in charge of it#and at one point he leaves#comes back with a LEAFBLOWER#and aims it at the fire which causes it to shoot up to twelve feet tall and shower embers on everything#i dount know what prompted that.

I got a laptop with Windows 11 for an IT course so I can get certified, and doing the first time device set-up for it made me want to commit unspeakable violence
Windows 11 should not exist, no one should use it for any reason, it puts ads in the file explorer and has made it so file searches are also web searches and this cannot be turned off except through registry editing. Whoever is responsible for those decisions should be killed, full stop.
Switch to linux, it's free and it's good.
