Feel the need to spread the word about this, cause this seems SO much more well-thought out and researched than mine.
RotTMNT Viewing Order_final (Final).txt
okay first of all thank you to everyone who's expressed interest on this post (@azzandra @iwillkeepfighting and now @pizzazz-party who reminded me the post existed in the first place) for i have now watched four episodes back-to-back to figure out one last ep placement and have produced a... moderately-final episode order!
So this viewing order is a modification of @kingfarce's viewing order here, alterations based on both my own feelings about emotional beats (for example, the very different ways Shell in a Cell and Bug Busters treat Leo falling from a high place because of something Raph did) and @iztarshi's field observations of where it feels like episodes should lie. I have not watched it all the way through like this, because I am nothing if not someone who jumps the gun, and I FULLY expect that there are still points where it gets a little rough and could be ordered better! If you watch this order and spot a place like that, please let me know what episodes and your thoughts on why, I'd love to hear your opinions!
Okay, without further ado:
Season One:
Mystic Mayhem
Origami Tsunami
Newsworthy
War and Pizza
Donnie’s Gifts
Down with the Sickness
Minotaur Maze
Repo Mantis
Hypno!: Part Deux
The Fast and the Furriest
Mascot Melee
Shell in a Cell
Bug Busters
The Longest Fight
The Gumbus
Ms. Cuddles
Al Be Back
Stuck on You
The Purple Jacket
Pizza Pit
Smart Lair

You Got Served
The Purple Game
Man Vs. Sewer
The Ancient Art of Ninja Hide and Seek
One Man’s Junk
Snow Day

Insane in the Mama Train
End Game
Season Two:
Many Unhappy Returns
Todd Scouts

So today I discovered that Blood Dragon cartoon is finally releasing on Netflix.
So I ended up doing this when I saw those things...

So given that the Rise of the TMNT crew confirmed that Big Mama's Bodyguard was supposed to be the Turtles' sister (and apparently not the only one)...

(Picture from TMNTpedia)
Anybody think that she was supposed to be Venus De Milo?
I kinda lean toward yes due to the admittedly minor reason of Venus' original appearance in The Next Mutation, to my knowledge, having her hooded for a lot of the pilot before revealing her identity.
It could also be Jennika admittedly, though I don't know the timeframe of when she was created nor when production on Season 2 started.

At first I wondered why the Krang even bothered to use their exosuits given that they're already grossly overpowered without them
But then I realized

Without exosuits they can't style on their opponents like this lmao

Just watched the Rise of the TMNT movie
I generally enjoyed it!
My thoughts (SPOILERS):
You can kinda tell the movie and Season 2 were developed concurrently due to a lot of the supporting cast not really showing up (Draxum in particular). Also the fact Leo is Leader never really feels commented on? It feels like it kept treating Raph as such until he got captured and Krang’d.
I kinda wish that at least one of the Krang was more joke-y, but I still really liked them regardless despite not being very deep as characters (with Splinter even making fun of Krang 2 for her whole kill-happiness being a bit repetitive). They were super scary as threats. Probably my favorite incarnation of the character(s) right now.
The Cassandra punchline was amusing.
What happened to Krang 3? I think he was detained by Donnie when he took over the Technodrome but they never show what happened. Did he get crushed? Killed when the Technodrome was sent back?
Anyone else feel Krang 2 being detained by the Earth Protection Force is the crew covering their bases if the show gets “unpaused”? Cause we’re probably not seeing Krang 1 again.
Also OH MY GOD THE EARTH PROTECTION FORCE AND BISHOP CAMEO’D!!!!!!!! I mean yeah the government agent has a mustache, but it was obviously Bishop given his longcoat, slicked back hair, and sunglasses

Maybe I’m not the only one who noticed this, but...
I remember when Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles ended, the series finale had quite a few hints at yokai-kind and Shredder in particular having alien ties, which the movie confirms.
At first it almost feels like it comes out of nowhere, especially due to the breakneck pacing of all four of the final episodes (due to Nick deciding to cut their losses due to the toy sales not doing so hot).
But then I remembered the opening of the series.
The first shot of the show is of a manhole cover, adorned with this incarnation’s Turtles insignia.
Which segues into a shot of the night sky.
This isn’t the first time the franchise has done this type of opening, with the 1987 cartoon and the 2012 cartoon both using this, albeit in the opposite order (sky to manhole), which to me implies a cosmic tone. Though honestly it could just be to establish the New York setting...
The 2012 series goes even further and uses a shot of outer space itself due to the prominence of the Kraang as major antagonists.
So, and I fully admit I’m probably reaching here, I can’t help but wonder if this means that Rise hinted, at the very start of the show, that Krang would eventually play a part in this incarnation.

I admit...
I’m not generally a fan of Krang (though he’s grown on me in the 2010s, if only cause I didn’t like the 2012 incarnation), but the upcoming Rise film has actually gotten me excited to see the character for once, if only by virtue of trying to give him a menacing presence, and the reimagining of his (and his siblings???) exosuit.
The organic design is like if a Xenomorph and Evangelion suit got into the teleporter accident from The Fly. It’s such a stark reimagining of the original design.
The singular eye also makes me think of the Technodrome, which from the trailer, will likely be showing up in the movie.
I do hope the film doesn’t forget to make him funny, though; I like that they’re trying to make the character more serious, but I think humor is one of the biggest parts of Krang’s character.

The (hopefully intended) viewing order of...
So recently, in preparation for the upcoming movie, and because it’s on Netflix, I decided to watch Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
However, as I watched it, I noticed that one aspect of the viewing experience still hasn’t been fixed: It’s out of order.
This might not be a deal breaker for a lot of people, but it irks me since I feel like there’s a lot of careful effort to make sure much of the timeline and rules of the setting make sense in the show.
At first I checked Wikipedia, which seemed to indicate it was in proper airing order, but then decided to check TMNTpedia, which had entirely different production codes.
While Wikipedia does cite a source for it, I’m not totally certain I trust it (due to it being a fairly obscure TV schedule site), and I think the order on TMNTpedia itself makes more sense, though it still has some issues I think.
So I’m gonna give my own proposed watch order for at least Season 1 (Season 2 aired mostly in order, likely because Nickelodeon already decided to cancel it). It’ll largely be the same as TMNTpedia’s Production Order, though some will be moved around.
Mystic Mayhem
Origami Tsunami
Newsworthy
War and Pizza
Donnie’s Gifts
Minotaur Maze
Down with the Sickness
Repo Mantis
Hypno!: Part Deux
The Fast and the Furriest
Mascot Melee
Bug Busters
Shell in a Cell
The Longest Fight
The Gumbus
Ms. Cuddles
Al Be Back
Stuck on You
The Purple Jacket
Pizza Pit
Smart Lair
Hot Soup: The Game
The Evil League of Mutants
Late Fee
Bullhop
Nothing But Truffle
Turtle-Dega Nights: The Ballad of Rat Man
Shadow of Evil
Mind Meld
Portal Jacked
Warren & Hypno, Sitting in a Tree
Sparring Partner
Mystic Library
Operation: Normal
How To Make Enemies and Bend People To Your Will
You Got Served
The Purple Game
Man Vs. Sewer
The Ancient Art of Ninja Hide and Seek
The Mutant Menace
One Man’s Junk
Snow Day
Cloak and Swaggart
Jupiter Jim Ahoy
Insane in the Mama Train
End Game
As I mentioned, I mainly adhered to the production order shown on TMNTpedia (I don’t expect I did it perfectly), but changed the order of some episodes since some of their placements made no sense to me:
Origami Tsunami has been placed as episode 2 due to that episode introducing Lou Jitsu and the Foot Clan, and also establishes the Turtles deciding to be heroes. (Thanks, @magicalspacedragon!)
Repo Mantis and Hypno!: Part Deux actually take place concurrently, hence why the two are close together here.
The Fast and the Furriest is before Mascot Melee due to the former introducing the Turtle Tank; in airing and supposedly production order, this resulted in an episode featuring the Turtle Tank before its formal introduction.
On the note of The Fast and the Furriest, for some reason Nickelodeon chose to air this episode before Minotaur Maze, the episode that introduces Senor Hueso and the pizzeria he works in, Run of the Mill Pizza.
I put The Gumbus before Al Be Back, since Baxter has an extended cameo in the latter episode. It isn’t very noticeable anyway, but for consistency and character introduction’s sake, I put it before.
Episodes not mentioned on this list (which again only covers Season 1) are Flushed But Not Forgotten and Sewer Games, which had the dubious honor of being aired before Season 1 finished; both episodes are from Season 2 (as evidenced by changes to the opening, most prominently Shredder replacing Draxum), but were aired as a Halloween Special in the show's second year. Netflix will likely correctly mark this as a Season 2 episode if it ever gets Season 2, as it was not included in Season 1's release on the platform.
I haven’t tried this order out for myself (I kinda gave up on the idea of watching it in any sort of chronological order around the time me and my sister reached Shadow of Evil on Netflix, and it would take a lot of time). I hope that the order shown here works, but it might need further nudging.
Here’s hoping the upcoming movie is good!

So my thoughts on Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ series finale
This isn’t an in-depth review.
Below the keep reading line.
Heavy spoilers.
The absolute troll move of having Leonardo become leader basically as the last line in the series was hilarious.
Against all of my expectations, Foot Recruit really was Casey Jones, and I’m so surprised that was actually true.
Shredder was played by Hoon Lee, the 2012 Splinter, which was kind of cool.
I wonder if that Utrom cameo is supposed to lead into the Netflix film. The camera lingers on it for just a bit too long to be a simple in-joke...
Lots and lots and LOTS of Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann vibes.
I wish some of the final fates of many of the supporting cast were addressed, like the Foot Brute and Foot Lieutenant, as well as Big Mama.
Was surprised to see Karai as a genuinely heroic figure.
Disappointed this is probably it aside from the Netflix film, because I really do want to see what else the setting has, but it’s wrapped up. It does feel like they found out they were cancelled and decided to wrap it up this season.
Basically, I loved it for the most part.

Crack Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles theory
The Foot Recruit’s name will be revealed to be Oroku Saki, and she’ll probably merge with the Shredder.
Even though that wouldn’t really make sense given that there’s a paper shredder brand called “Saki” within the series’ universe.

RIP Rick May
This is kind of a late dedication, but I found out that there was a costume which homaged the Soldier (which uses the same quote as this one, but I still like the quote), so I decided to go for it. The Soldier image is taken from the TF2 Wiki.
I admit to having a relatively small relationship with TF2. I never really played Team Fortress 2, but I did enjoy the various machinima produced, many of which had used soundbytes from Rick May’s portrayal of the Soldier. Rick was very good at conveying the Soldier’s character, and he always made it a blast.
