For the wip game: time?

I want you to know what happened when I did a control+f search for the word "time" in my Future Boy draft -- which is actually just entitled "Marty McFly trans"

Anyway. A quote from the as-of-yet unpublished penultimate seventh chapter of the fic:

After all, at this point he’d known her seven whole months longer than Marty McFly had spent in his own life. There was no reason to make her live in the shadow of a boy who, by the space-time continuum’s standards, had never even existed.

Hey I just got into the Bttf fandom fully and I wanna say I LOVE LOVE LOVE you art!! It’s so cute and I adore the way you draw Marty and Doc. And I also love your au drawings and comics in general but my favorite so far is the one for A Flat Circle in Time, it’s the first full fic I read that wasn’t a one shot and I have yet to find one that’s as good as it yet (but if you have recommendations I’d be more than happy to look) And I can’t wait to see what you’ll be drawing next!

YESSS time is a flat circle is utterly peak i do fear. fun fact i’ve definitely said before but the day i finished that fic (in like one sitting basically) i ended up making this sideblog! i think one of my first reblogs is a qna about it hahaha…. for your kind words i disclose two loosely related doodles! the first one isn’t a specific scene bc i didn’t want to skim the fic…. im trying to forget as much as possible so i can reread it someday LMAO. the second one is based off tiafc doc calling him a little canary!

anyways welcome to the fandom! for more fic recs there’s the stuff by kathkin on ao3 which i think at this point is bttf fandom required reading LMAO….. on a cosmic scale and welcome to the panopticon are on the longer side (especially the latter haha) but goddamn they’re good. i still think about them……

plugging some of my buddies’ works too (all also on ao3)! carrotsofthepirrabean has the sickest paleontologist au (that just updated too i need to finish that), azhdarchidaen is working on a fic about doc thinking he’s messed up the space time continuum somehow but actually it’s fine bc marty’s just transgender (future boy i miss you…….. it’s a wip but in the meantime all his other stuff is there and it’s great), and LonesomeDreamer has many a short and sweet oneshot with a very liberal application of the jewish doc agenda

I wonder how the conversation went when Marty convinced Doc to build that giant speaker (or was it a surprise/gift?); even if that's been canonized somewhere, I'd love to see how you think that played out!

like many others i think the giant speaker was a gift from doc to marty, maybe for his birthday or just because he felt like it. but now you've made me think about it a little more and i've come up with something a little more specific haha

so marty, in the very early stages of their friendship, is really fascinated by all the contraptions around doc's house, and when doc confirms that he made all of those himself marty's like cool! so you can build, like, anything you want? and doc's like as long as i put my mind to it, yeah i probably could! and marty's like sweet. so could you build, i don't know, something completely random, like.... a giant speaker? ...say that again? build a giant speaker! like yknow, i could hook up my guitar to it, play some sick tunes... it would be the coolest thing ever. and doc would be like oh sure, sure, i'll think about it (he is not thinking about it. building a giant speaker would be ridiculous. the power of a theoretical supersized guitar amp would probably send someone flying across the room. also he's busy.)

so doc agrees to think about it just to humor the kid and thinks nothing of it. and then marty gets sick or something and after a bit of trying to play it off marty admits yknow what yeah i do feel pretty terrible. .............but if you built a giant speaker i think i'd feel a lot better. and then doc bursts out laughing because he wasn't expecting the giant speaker idea to make a comeback! and he's like what?? the giant speaker again?? and marty's like yeah the giant speaker again. it'll cure me for sure. trust me doc. and doc laughs and goes sure! i'll consider it! (but in the tone that definitely means he is not, because, once again, the idea would be ridiculous.)

sometime later marty arrives at doc's place clearly bummed about something going on with his life and when doc asks him if everything's alright, marty gives him a very, VERY brief rundown. and then, before doc has enough time to show any concern, marty says not to worry about it, because when doc makes the giant speaker it's not gonna matter to him at all B). doc starts laughing again because marty's speaker idea has just been upgraded from "if" to "when" and "a" to "the", as if the creation of the giant speaker has been a clearly established future event and not just an idea marty's thrown out twice that doc has vaguely appeared to entertain

so the giant speaker ends up becoming a running joke with them where every so often marty will just bring up the giant speaker at random. oh we've cleared out this one area of the garage? perfect place to put the giant speaker. hey doc can i bring my friend jennifer over i think she'd find the place super cool. of course she'd find it way cooler if you built the giant speaker but yk. oh you're working on something new? let me guess. it's the giant speaker. doc will play along with it like yes, exactly, the giant speaker is definitely what i was working on, how did you know?? or when marty gets nosy on a component of the time machine doc will wave him off of it and tell him hey back up marty that's part of the giant speaker you can't touch that.

eventually towards the events of the film, some sort of event compels doc to make something for marty. maybe he was feeling really good about how the delorean was going along, maybe it's a belated birthday gift, maybe it's for the anniversary of marty breaking into doc's home? doc seems like the kind of guy to remember dates like that. but whatever it is, doc decides that it's finally time. he's going to build the fabled giant speaker. so one day marty walks into the garage and sees doc working on something new, and when he asks hey doc what're you working on now? doc replies oh it's just the giant speaker. and usually that means it's some Secret Other Thing Marty Look Over Not In This Direction, but when marty passes by it again later it's starting to look suspiciously giant speaker-shaped.......... when he finds out that yes, that Is the giant speaker, it's actually real now, he's like HOLY SHITTTT FAR OUT THANKS DOC. hyping this thing up as a bit for three years has finally paid off!

so yeah. my two cents on the giant speaker thing

Art in Revolution

“Through here.”

A draft blew the torch’s flame toward Marty’s face as he turned the corner. When the brief glare in his eyes subsided, he looked down the dark stretch of the catacombs, mouth falling open with a silent scream.

“Ohhhh, my god—Ohh, my god…”

“Shh!”

Marty whimpered; hundreds of skeletons were heaped on either side of the tunnel.

“Who the hell hid art down here?” Marty asked, knees quaking. “Is the world really gonna miss this art?”

“The Nazis will in 150 years if we don’t retrieve it now.”

Marty sighed wearily. Groaned.

“God, I hate Revolutionary France…”

do you think doc would be the kind of person who would celebrate his dogs' birthdays? or at least like, their adoption's day? because i can honestly imagine him going to put a tiny birthday hat on them and sing them happy birthday... and trying to make those days special for them... perhaps making them a dog food cake or something like that...

McFly July: Lorraine’s Bedroom Window

When Lorraine and George were first going steady, Lorraine would sometimes find little slips of paper wedged in her window. The slips contained awkwardly cute messages written in George’s scratches.

At first, the messages read like any note a girl could receive from a secret admirer. They were sweet nonetheless. One she remembered vividly was “You are my destiny.” She couldn’t stop smiling for the rest of the day. When she asked him about it, George gave her a shy smile. It still made her grin every time she thought of it. 

Eventually, the messages became more specific to the two of them. Sometimes he would write things from the latest episode of The Honeymooners or I Love Lucy, and sometimes they were from, what Lorraine assumed, another television program she hadn’t heard of. 

On paper, anyone could have read those notes and known what they were from, but the meaning of those notes went beyond what was written. Most people watched Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz— even her father watched Jackie Gleason when he was on. But George McFly was not most people in that regard. He liked Science Fiction Theater and reading similar books. When he wrote lines from a sitcom, it meant he had deliberately gone out of his way to watch it. 

The day before their wedding had been the last time George snuck a note in Lorraine’s window. It was another Honeymooners quote: “I know that all of you brother must have been joking about the things you said about marriage tonight. I’m very happy.” It was a very fitting quote from the “Here Comes the Bride” episode. 

Lorraine would be lying if she said she didn’t miss those notes a little bit. 

While living with another person had been an adjustment, Lorraine and George maintained a healthy relationship. They hardly got into any arguments, and they never turn nasty. If they were ever angry, it never lasted too long and they tried not to let any problems build up. 

It had been a year since she and George said “I do” to one another. They had a wonderfully quaint anniversary celebration and were getting ready for bed. George was lying beside her, wearing his reading glasses and reading a book. Lorraine stared at the window. She could’ve sworn she heard something like leaves brushing against the glass, but that made no sense in December. 

“George, do you hear that noise?” Lorraine whispered.

“What noise?” he said with his engrossed-in-reading voice. 

“By the window. Don’t you hear it?”

“Mhm.”

“What is it?”

“I don’t know,” he mumbled. “It’s probably nothing.”

Lorraine gave him a long look. “I’m going to take a look.”

“Okay.”

She pulled herself out of bed and padded over to the window. It was dark outside. There weren’t any animals outside and certainly no people. She turned to head back to bed when something caught her eye. It was wedged between the window and the windowsill. 

She quickly unlocked the window and lifted it up. She seized the thing and shoved the window down. 

The object in question had been carefully folded. Her heart fluttered as she flattened the piece of paper. A giddy grin came over her as she read the familiar scratches.

“What is it?” George asked. 

Lorraine turned towards him, still smiling. He looked so dreamy when his glasses caught the light; it made his eyes twinkle. 

“You mean it, George?” She rushed back to him and wrapped her arms around his neck.

“Mean what?”

“Don’t be silly. The note!”

There came his signature shy smile. 

“Oh, George!” she cried. Lorraine gave him a kiss on the cheek. 

He took off his glasses and reached behind them to put them on the nightstand. His blue eyes met hers again. He wrapped an arm around her. “I’m very happy. Still.”

“Me too.”

Happy 40 years to Back to the Future!! (Even though I'm celebrating four days late lol) This is one of my favorite movies so I dug up these old drawings of Marty McFly to celebrate! :)

Hold up one second, I dunno if you're still taking requests rn, but are there any actual rules or conditions that we should be aware of?

the loose sketch bttfposting of a couple days ago until now were for the movie's 40th anniversary, which i would say i'm done with now? but in all honesty i'm always open for requests haha. those in particular were just done faster than normal as a 40th anniversary special bc i wanted to celebrate without putting too much effort into it! usually a request sits in my inbox for ages before i finish it for one reason or another (mb guys)

now that you mention it i never really set down any hard guidelines for requesting things? so i guess i'll take this as that opportunity! i wrote the general jist of it in the tags of the request announcement post i made a couple days ago but i'm. too lazy to link it. if you go down my yap session tag you'll find it but i'm going to repeat it and then some so there's no point:

obviously it needs to be bttf related bc. i am a bttf blog as you can see

as long as it meets that requirement actually there's really not much you can't ask to see? like headcanons/scenarios/funky outfits/aus etc etc. however do be warned i have and will just take an idea and start running off into the distance with it. literally every event of my weredoc au is a direct response to an ask, including the existence of the au itself LMAO. so like. go nuts

if it's of a character i haven't drawn before you're going to probably wait a long time. sorry. you can still do it though it's probably the only way i'll get myself to learn how to draw them anyways

also if there's a fic that you liked and want to see something from it i'll do it if i've read it before!

i will only draw ocs if i'm doing a special event sort of thing like the 40th anniversary requests. same applies to crossovers unless it was part of a fic i read

don't think anyone will ever do this bc the sign on my intro post kind of took care of that but to be safe: i will not ever draw mamm/ett or incest under any circumstance it's gross to me sorry

i also will straight up just. not do it if i don't feel like it. so no guarantees on anything at all ever. i think i've done or planned to do most of my requests though. if you think i've passed on yours you can ask me!

in addition i will say this bc this has happened to me many times before: please do not send me your own art in my askbox! i literally don't know what to do with it and while i appreciate that you think i'm cool enough to show me your art directly, i would prefer you post that on your own blog bc you worked hard on it and i would hate to see your art efforts go to waste bc i don't know how to respond! if you REALLY REALLY want me to see what you made just tag me
