Probably want to avoid getting tatted in a place that is almost always visible (e.g. the unscarved neck nape), but otherwise sounds good. Can't really see many better reasons to get a tatty.
should i get a vanishing amulet tattooed on the nape of my neck y/n
pros: i will become magic??
cons: potentially look like i got duped at a tattoo parlor; have to avoid swimming while it heals

I remember some “study” got shared on tumblr that purported to show that gender roles are harmful to young children. After about 20 mins of looking into it I discovered that this “study” (1) had not been published in any journal, let alone a peer reviewed one, (2) did not involve taking any data, merely a feminist scholar observing and interviewing children and interpreting their behaviour, (3) actively applied feminist theory in the interpretation (I presented all this in a reply which you can find somewhere in my archive).
So this obviously did not pass even the lowest bar of science. But setting aside the not-so-surprising fact that feminist empirical work is not completely rigorous, the tumblr responses were more interesting. One reply that got reblogged a lot was “water is wet”. Really? You’d put “gender roles harm young children” in the same category as “water is wet”? Where does this confidence come from? Certainly not from any review of the evidence, because if you ask a tumblr social justice activist “why are gender roles harmful?” you’ll get a bunch of purely a priori theoretical spiel. Central to this theoretical argument is the axiom that men and women are blank slates and gender differences in biology are unimportant—something which is again wildly contradicted by the evidence.
So this goes back to my earlier question of why these people are so confident when they have no reason to be. Maybe they assume their intellectual superiors have done their research and so can just adopt these positions on faith?? I really don’t know.

I think there is a lot of status-signaling by educators going on, too. For example, teaching kids math and statistics is good, because that prepares them for careers in science, and science, as a vocation, has very high (even sacred, in some circles) status in our society. Likewise, being able to read and enjoy classical literature is a mark of high social status, so it’s important we make the kids read some Shakespeare, Chaucer, Hawthorne, etc, before they graduate, too. Financial planning, on the other hand, is a fundamentally low status activity, because the need for it springs from low status motivations (ie, self-interest, greed, etc). Contrast with science, which is about the quest for Truth and Knowledge, etc: very high status motivations. Thus, basic finance gets low educational priority, while Algebra II, which the vast majority of students probably won’t learn very well in the first place and won’t use after they’ve completed the class, anyway, gets high priority.
Commenter Jeff on “Should Financial Literacy Be Part of the Core of K-12 Education?” by Art Carden (via jenlog)
Kind of hard to understand Finance if you don’t understand Algebra II.

It's amazing how every post I've seen defending the doxxing is using "blame the victim" logic. I just... It's totally unbelievable.
sjws have gotten so far up their own asses that they’re literally blaming plebcomics for her own doxxing because they don’t want to admit they did something wrong

I love how Plebcomics wasn’t a fucking bigot and just called out SJWs on their shitty behavior and that apparently warrants her to loose her job.
These people don’t give a shit about morals or social justice.

The ironic part about the people who doxxed, threatened, and forced plebby to resign from her job is that, they’re confirming what plebcomics has been creating comics about all along.  You’re just proving her point.

I’ve literally never had the thought “why is everyone so straight” while watching a movie/TV show. If this thought constantly crosses your mind you are, objectively, a whiner.

It's actually astonishing how regularly this happen. Whenever some post criticizing some anti-SJW blogger gets 5,000+ notes, that anti-SJW blogger immediately becomes the target of doxxing and death threats. This trend, which is made possible by the existence of an increasingly vocal cadre of tumblrites who are simultaneously 1) immensely self-righteous and 2) lacking in any sense of human decency, produces some interesting phenomenon. Like when people make posts that say "kill yourself actually" and then drum up the audacity to tag them with "#tw: suicide".
Some one is trying to hack my account. Hooray!

Thank God we minorities have people like nefepants to protect us from plebcomics
As an illustrator, I have a deep respect for art and I find it prudent to use it as a tool to assist those most in need, and those most in need of enlightenment when it comes to social subjects they have no experience with. So by default, I have zero respect for you as a fellow artist. Do you understand you're doing infinitely more harm than good, or are you really that myopic and entitled that you can't see it? I'm just curious.
find me an obituary where someone has “died by plebcomics”

I honestly cannot understand people who try to measure a president’s success by a bunch of economic variables he has little or no control over (actually I can totally understand, but it’s still extremely stupid). Things like unemployment, stock prices, and “consumer confidence” are much more...
