Imo seeing Mondo as transphobic hinges on whether or not you think Chihiro actually preferred presenting as female, which I do not. Chihiro clearly expressed a desire to work out in order to become more masculine and be accepted as a man, a desire which my transmasc ass relates to big time. In that framing, Mondo is a good person who correctly genders Chihiro despite his diminutive stature and penchant for wearing skirts.

Tenko, on the other hand, reeks of radfem ideology. Even if she's a TIRF not a TERF, she clearly believes the radfem schtick about all girls being pure cinnamon rolls who must be protected at all costs, and all men being disgusting perverted monsters who would kill or assault you as soon as look at you. I personally don't think she's a full on transphobe because she does briefly express the idea that if Shuichi were to become a girl she'd like him better, but even so her gender essentialist views are often deeply dangerous to the trans and GNC community and she makes me very uncomfortable as a result.

I'm a short-statured, unsporty trans man, and I have often felt far more comfortable and accepted amongst awkward overly-masc dudebros who slap me on the back as a form of affection and overcompensate by using gendered nicknames like "little dude" with me than I have around "feminist" lefties who set up "women and nonbinary" safe spaces and think testosterone makes you a raging animal. I don't think that's misogynist.

Genuine question, how come mukuro doesn't get friends or a chance at redemption but korekiyo does? They were both groomed by their sisters and murdered a bunch of people in cold blood? Aren't they both equally equally guilty? How come people wanting redemption for mukuro is them ignoring everything about her character but it's not for korekiyo? I'm not trying to be combative I just genuinely don't get it

huh? i never said it's not for kiyo, i was saying that about both characters equally kiyo being groomed is a headcanon and he was never actually a serial killer as far as we know. but people babying him and pretending he was forced to do everything because of his sister gets on my nerves too. they're trying to justify liking this character without feeling "icky" and mukuro wasn't groomed either, she's complicit in everything junko does. she should get about as much chance at redemption as junko. and like, more power to anyone who wants to make a redemption story but i ain't readin that! if you redeem them then what even are they -A- it annoys the hell out of me that people can take these characters and wipe clean everything uncomfortable about them and then claim they like them, but in the "right" way, the "moral" way. i say appreciate the characters for how fucked up they are, i've said that from the beginning. it's. a horror game
