Hi, about your post on BTS enlistment, I feel you! But what comforts me a lot, and I thought maybe could comfort you too, is thinking about Super Junior's enlistment, Idk if you know them, but they started service in 2010 pretty much, and their youngest was discharged in 2019. The fans have been so positive and waited for so long, I've seen so many fans talking about it, they're still here with Suju. And after almost 20 years since debut they're still relevant and loved. So I want to think that it will be the same way with BTS 😊

Yes! I was thinking about them too. I was a big fan at one point as well. And I guess that’s what scares me too because I was such a big fan but after decreased activity I pretty forgot about them. Granted I was a lot younger back then and it was more at a superficial level

How I feel about BTS’ enlistment

Im not going into how I feel about Korean law requiring enlistment at all, that’s a whole separate story.

I feel comforted in knowing they’re not all enlisting at the same time because that means some members will continue to be active till they enlist and the others will be active when they’re done/back.

But at the same time 2025 feels really far away for them to all be done. It could very well be 2026 when they release group content (if they choose to do so) and by then I’ll be 30.

I’ve said it before but I found BTS during a time I was really struggling emotionally. Their music was my comfort. It still continues to be my comfort. I don’t see that changing in a few years but I’m scared it might. I’m scared some day in a few years I’ll just happen to see an article about them returning as a group and I’ll just say “oh cool” and move on with my day. Like I didn’t love on them as hard as I did for the last 6-8 years.

Like I said, I’m sure we’ll continue to have individual content from members. This makes a lot more sense with what they said during festa now. I’m hoping I can keep my promise to Namjoon when we said we’ll wait for them always.

Ok so 2025 is when they will ALL be done with military. Some of the members aren’t even going to be enlisting till like early 2024! Don’t worry y’all we’re gonna always have some kind of content

Here’s what I think BTS was trying to convey: (and I could be totally wrong lmao)

While the members have done some solo work here and there, I don’t think they really had the opportunity to do everything they wanted to as individuals. Most of their career has been dependent on the other members as they have mostly been promoting as a group since they debuted. BTS as a whole is a brand, but we haven’t seen their full potential as individuals. I don’t even mean just in music- I’m sure they would even branch out into other fields if they wanted to.

And I think there’s a level of guilt and fear that comes with wanting to do solo work. Guilt because you’ve been part of this group for the last nine years that now the whole world adores. Guilt because you want to work on yourself. Fear because you don’t have the other members to depend on. Fear because the bar is set so high already.

What I don’t want to ever see is comparison. That defeats the whole point. We’ve known since their debut that they’re all quite different in both their sounds and personalities. I hope fans don’t end up saying one is better than the other because it will never be a competition.

There is absolutely nothing wrong in wanting to do solo work, and like RM said, it was courageous to want to share that vision with everyone because we all know there are fans out there that wouldn’t accept that.

I love them as a team and I love them each individually and as a fan I’m excited for their solo work. They’ve made it clear they’re not disbanding, and who are we to say otherwise? Sure, I’m a little sad that we won’t see too much group projects for a bit, but that’s not to say it won’t ever happen. They’re going to come back stronger as a team in the future.

I feel guilty as a fan, I’m not going to lie. They were emotional telling fans the news when they should have been excited. Instead it’s turned into a shit show this past week with press and the members doing damage control.

My one and only hope for them moving forward is they get to do everything they want to do- whether that’s as individuals or as a team. They deserve so much. And no matter what, I hope they are happy!

Some hiatus 🤣 it’s so shitty to keep saying that when you’re obviously not ever going to post. Why not just delete or just say you’re done

This made me sad because I realized that someone as irrelevant as me is getting hate. Imagine how much idols and celebrities actually get for just existing.

As for my hiatus, I still stand by what I said. Unfortunately I just don’t have the time to sit and write like I did before. I still love to write but it’s not like this is my job. I hope you all can be understanding of that.
