Great, not I gotta go watch Pacific Rim cause this was interesting and I'm curious to the point of distraction.
Dean Winchester was there.
He was floating, almost an arms-reach away from his brother, a rope of metal-wrapped wiring tangled along his leg.
The ocean was big and vast–and silent. He could still hear the burning crash Black Baby made when the level four kaiju they were fighting ripped a gaping tear through her nuclear reactor; it rang through his head against the quiet of the waters. It’s only accompaniment was Sam’s benevolent whispers through his earpiece. It’s okay Dean, he says as he drifts closer and closer to the bright orange rift,
It’s gonna be okay.
Dean screamed through his earpiece, thrashing his armour-plated arms, one of them desperately stretched towards his brother.

The metal wiring hung onto him like a voice of reason, as if saying, stay. Dean cried back, please, let me go.
And then he was being reeled in, a fish brought to the surface of the water, a boat floating a few meters from where Black Baby’s remains bled and burned. He screamed and kicked and hit like a man desperate to die–SAMMY’S STILL IN THERE! SAMMY! Lieutenant Ellen Harvelle had to knock him out cold, tears in her eyes, just to keep him from jumping back into the water to retrieve a man already dead.
They saved an entire city’s worth of lives that day.
When Sam Winchester died, the neural bridge had been long gone. 
But Dean felt every single tendril of fear that curled against his brother’s heart. Upon the loss of Black Baby as it was consumed by the fire and the Pacific. Upon the open endlessness of the water that swallowed them both. Upon the five kaiju skittering across the bedrock, as he was dragged deeper and deeper towards the crack that marred the earth, Black Baby’s torn arm along with him. For Sam and Dean, the neural bridge has always been the secondary connection.
They shared a life, a home. A road, a car. A jaeger. 
Dean smiles tiredly, a pistol against his head.
Maybe they share a heaven, too.

I’m putting it out there that using round wide eyes to implicitly state innocence and purity in a character; and small “slanty” eyes to convey dishonesty and deceit in your antagonist is actually racist lmfao.
I see some of you bring out this concept in you character designs over and over and yeah it’s not a conscious thought process but thinking “this is the evil character who is morally decrepit - how should I really bring that out in their image?” And then linking that immediately to drawing smaller eyes is racist yellow peril derived stereotyping.
I’m sure most of us have been guilty of this at some stage including myself so can we all just grow up and leave this bullshit behind in this year? 谢谢

I see this a lot, no one has actual names, or any reference for names, that are legit Native American, varying among the tribes, for their characters.
Babynames.com and shit like that will give you names made up by white people.
However, I’ve got your solution.
Native-Languages  is a good website to turn to for knowledge on a lot of native things, including native names. If you’re unsure about the names you’ve picked, they even have a list of made up names here!
Please don’t trust names like babynames.com for native names, they’re made up and often quite offensive to the cultures themselves.

One of the major subplots of my story involving the female protagonist building a strong friendship with a male character. I want to establish that they're close but don't want to come off as romantic.
I’ve written a fair few stories with a strong male/female friendship, but I am a naturally unflirty/romantically challenged person, so I’ve never really had difficulty getting the friendship to come across.
Close friendships have attraction in them, in that people are attracted to being together or to working as a team. It’s easy to draw the line between that and sexual attraction, but romance can be harder.
You could try giving one of them an outside love interest. Barring that, try establishing a certain point of closeness and don’t step past it. You can also just up and say it in the text. If one of the characters doesn’t swing that way, they might mention it in passing, or correct someone who thinks they’re a couple.
Just play it by ear, and if someone reading your draft tells you they seemed romantic, look at clues that might have given them that sense.

Hey! I'm pretty good at thinking of interesting settings and characters but I can never think of a good plot. Any tips?
Plot is easy to learn to do, but characters and settings are harder. If you have a natural affinity for those two, you’re actually in a really good place. All you need is some external conflict to stir the pot a little.
Almost every story is about someone who wants something badly and is having trouble getting it. If you go on any industry standard story writing course, they’ll often lead with that. A lot of people write stories ‘about a guy who’s really interesting ‘cause of this stuff and he’s got these friends…’ and they never really go anywhere. That’s because the character either doesn’t want something badly, or they’re not having trouble getting it. 
So what does your character want? Depends on the genre. To survive, to land on the moon, to win every single sport in the Olympics, to kill all humans, to stop Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull from ever being made…
Action films are going to have straightforward wants. Horror films are usually going to be about escaping. Romance films? That’s actually a little more complex than it seems. If you want the guy and the girl to get together in the end, your protagonist’s goal shouldn’t be that at first.
Why?
Otherwise you’ve got half a plot. Someone wants something, they’re having trouble getting it (your premise), then they overcome the problem and get it.
Most stories do not work that way. There’s another half to the story. It goes like this:
The protagonist either succeeds or fails, and realises what they wanted wasn’t what they needed. So they set out to do what they need to do, and they have trouble doing it.
So to get your plot, you need those two elements. The first objective, that benefits the protagonist, but doesn’t necessarily improve them as a person, and the second objective, which does. Often there’s an element of self-sacrifice involved in that second objective.
Luke delivers Leia to the Alliance, only to discover that the Death Star needs to be destroyed. He won’t get a princess for doing it, but it needs to be done.
Mad Max escapes to the Green Place, only to realise that Immortan Joe’s stronghold needs to be liberated. He won’t get isolation for doing it, but it needs to be done.
Ideally, the first and second objectives should be as opposite as they possibly can be. If one is running away, the other is fighting. If one is winning, the other is giving up. If one is killing, the other is pacifism. The more different they are, the harder the U-turn your character has to make, and that screeching swerve to the opposite direction is a source of a lot of drama.
That’s the basis of a good plot. 
I recommend picking up The Writer’s Journey by Christopher Vogler. If you’re looking at what I’ve just written and thinking ‘okay that’s nice, but that’s one plot point and I need way more than that!’ this is the book for you. It goes through all the little changes that happen on that up-down u-turn journey from want to need, in the form of mythic story structure, which is more applicable to modern stories than you might think.
Those are all tips on story structure, and anyone who’s read a lot of my answers will probably see a lot they recognise there, so here’s something new:
If you’re struggling for plot, think of the absolute worst thing that could happen to your protagonist. Not like ‘a piano falls on them’, but in terms of their objective and flaws. What’s the thing that would be the biggest roadblock, and would be most difficult for them to handle because of who they are? What would require great ingenuity, willpower, or sacrifice to overcome?
Think it up, throw it in, and figure out how they get out of it. As you’re writing it, you’ll probably start integrating it with things that happened earlier. Turns out that tool they used to open a door on your first page would be really useful here, or that blacksmith friend they made in chapter three could probably lend a hand. Maybe the problem itself is caused because the protagonist upset The Authority in chapter five, and now they’re back for vengeance.
It’s not the only answer for ‘how do plot’, but it helps inspire some drama and it gives your protagonist an opportunity to earn their happy ending.

I will ask a question to preface this answer.Does a plot twist make sense?
As the person behind the scenes, you know a lot more than the reader does. Does a plot twist make sense to you, specifically? It doesn’t have to make sense to the reader.
The reason I ask is because plot twists are a tool to tell the story. If your story has a plot twist in it, you would already know! I know, it sounds weird, because maybe you don’t know. If you don’t know, that’s okay. But you should consider if a plot twist would benefit the story or harm it.
Looking back on the plot, does it make sense that this would happen? It wouldn’t make sense at first glance, that is why it is a surprise. Yet, if you dissect the story at least from the writer’s perspective, it should make sense, and it should be part of your story.
Writing a plot twist just for shock value isn’t a good idea, because if it is out of nowhere and uncalled for, it will frustrate your readers more than it shocks them. If it’s written as a vital part to the plot, then it will usually be shocking and not feel forced.
The basic idea behind a plot twist is that you are writing from a false perspective of something. The “twist” comes in when you reveal the truth of the matter. If the truth doesn’t make logical sense, it will feel forced and detract from your story.
The goal is to make your reader come to the realization that their perspective was wrong, and make them think back on the story and think, “Oh, that makes sense, actually.”
