farcille isn't "toxic yuri." nothing remotely toxic about them, they both treat each other with a great deal of care and affection and respect. just because marcille is willing to do forbidden necromancy and arguably cannibalism for her wife doesn't make her toxic that's just what you do for a woman with broad shoulders

So I just saw a post by a random personal blog that said ā€œdonā€™t follow me if we never even had a conversation beforeā€ and?????? Not to be rude but literally what the fuck??????????
Iā€™ve had people (non-pornbots) try to strike conversation out of nowhere in my DMs recently, and now Iā€™m wondering if they were doing that because they wanted to follow me and thought they needed to interact first. I feel compelled to say, just in case, that itā€™s totally okay to follow this blog (or my side blog, for that matter) even if weā€™ve never talked before.
Also, Iā€™m legit confused. Is this how follow culture works right now? It was worded like itā€™s common sense but is that really a thing?

cannot stop thinking about how, from jeanā€™s pov, neil is a Creature. an insane little man. jean expresses physical attraction or at least physical appreciation towards many of the characters in this book, and despite the foxesā€™ insistence that neil is good looking, to jean neil is always justā€¦ a weird and slightly unsettling presence. a strange and arrogant creature with no leash on him. an uncanny force of nature.

it was very sexy of maedhros to hold himring through nearly all the wars of the first age. And after the war of wrath left all the western lands flooded, it was very sexy of himring to be the last thing standing, forsaken for centuries

I fucking love Kabru as a narrative foil to Laios because its so different from the way narrative foils usually come across like what if this guy was also low support needs autistic in the exact opposite way from you in a way that makes you complete each other and he's obsessed with you but extremely weird about it and you are both freaks and he doesn't even particularly like you but he's also the one person to actively try his darndest to actually understand you more than anyone else but he still straight up does NOT get you at all but he pins all his hopes on you despite not really trusting you in the slightest
And meanwhile you literally don't give a shit about him so much that you straight up keep forgetting who he is and what his name is and that he even exists likejfdlsajgijfdbhjedk

I went into dungeon meshi thinking ā€œsure theres fan art of labru but its probably not based on muchā€ then read it and Kabru spends like the entire thing focused on finding and observing and helping Laios. Heā€™s so fascinated by him that he doesnā€™t know if he wants to befriend him or punch him at any moment. Kabru wants to put Laios in a jar just to observe what heā€™d do. Kabru loves humans the way Laios loves monsters. Theyā€™re narrative foils. Kabru goes from truly believing Laios is a bad guy to thinking heā€™s super weird to thinking ā€œfuck I might have to kill this guy so he doesnā€™t do something stupidā€ to thinking Laios deserves to be the king. And then I see some people say that the only reason theyā€™re shipped is bc weā€™re putting Laios with the first pretty man who shows up come on man give me a break.

Falin was literally reconstructed by the people who love her most, using the meat of the thing that killed her. Most raw, visceral, meaningful necromancy ever. They were really like oh you think death is cheap in this dungeon? You think it will be simple? No it went too far and now you have to deal with the bones and the corpses and defy laws and the common understanding of morality and it'll be awful and disgusting but you'll do it because you love her

Laios does not come across as a badass and it makes it 1000x times cooler when he reminds you how goddamn competent he is.
He's just so grounded and treats his job as so mundane, like of course he's concerned with having everyone fed and rested. Of course he thinks about the terrain, how solid his footing will be, how much space they have to move around eachother. There is not a single monster in this dungeon that Laios doesn't take seriously and believe could kill him if he slips up.

Laius and Marcille's actual relationship dynamic is so much more nuanced and weird than anything anyone on twitter is capable of comprehending.
Like Marcille and Falin? That's easy, they're lesbians and Marcille would commit magical crimes against humanity for the sake of getting Falin back. Clear cut, no ambiguity.
But Laius and Marcille? Where do I even start. The succubus incident. Laius's absolute unfailing borderline insane faith in Marcille's ability and competence. Marcille's willingness to go along with everything and anything Laius suggests despite her objections. They're both freaks but opposite ends of the freak spectrum and for that reason they're totally inseparable.

marcille and laois are the in-law content Iā€™ve needed. no more shitty sibling in-law tropes, now we focus only on the intense shared grief that comes from loving someone with every cell of your body

Have we considered what it means that Laois is so good at killing monsters, the one thing he loves, and so bad at fighting humans, the thing he feels most distance from. And inverse Kabru is terrible at killing monsters, the one thing he wants to destroy, but so good at killing humans he would have killed Falin 6 different times when he tried to kill her if her anatomy had been more human, despite his love for and drive to protect humanity? Have we considered what it means to be able to kill that which you love but not that you hate? Has anyone fucking considered the imposter syndrome that has to come from only being good at killing that which you love most??? The fear of not being able to protect yourself from the thing you most think is a threat simply because you cannot find a way to understand it enough to take it's life?

I really am glad that anime only people finally get to see the funniest thing about Marcille's feelings for Falin, namely how Marcille spends the entire story up to that point fawning over Falin and how cool and powerful and special she is while also acting like Laios is a deranged weirdo who tortures her for fun, only for the story to reveal that Falin is a Carbon Copy of Laios in almost every way and absolutely down with all of the freaky shit he's been up to. Legit comedy gold. I can't get over it. Marcille you're so fucking stupid, I love you.

everytime dungeon meshi focuses on characters outside of the touden party you can really feel the looming horror of the dungeon,, only the touden party is having a silly fun time by virtue of eating the horrors

I love how Kabru's party seems like they would be the ones that are super competent in a dungeon and Laios' party seems like the ones who have no idea what they're doing when in reality, Kabru's party gets boddied by a couple bugs and Laios And Friends killed a fucking dragon
