A message to the girls of today...
A message to the girls of today...
If you can surround yourself with genuine people, if you are healthy and you can be proud of yourself...what more can you want from life?
I am not a model, but I'm healthy. I'm not the most popular person but I feel affection from authentic caring people. I have overcome things and worked hard to give me a sense of pride.
I could be wrong but there is no need to strive to be the most beautiful or talented person in the world...you are amazing if you can say you are healthy, proud of where you are or what you have a achieved and you have connections with people of morals.
Beauty and talent are subjective ideas - forever changing and adapting - so why strive for something that does not wholly exist?
Maybe I could lose a few pounds or get a better haircut etc but I somehow came to learn that the aesthetics and vanities of life are not appealing to me.
It is not my place to offer life advice to anybody but if I were to speak to you as if you were a close friend I would tell you three things;-
1. Do not surround yourself with those who are wrong for you. Do not associate with those who bring you down, who discourage or involve you in situations that you are not comfortable with.  Surround yourself with warm and inviting people who bring out your best qualities.
2. Live a life that your friends would be jealous of but also in a way that would make your grandmother proud. Who said you cannot be a crazy party girl with a phd in finance? Just strike the balance of work and play - get up early, keep busy and produce results in whatever you have a passion for...make yourself proud.
3. Make your own style. Use inspiration by all means but put your own twist on it! For some people it takes years for them to find that sense of self and confidence but if you are holding your head up high to the world with well earned pride allowing you to do so...your style will be yours and you will not only stand out but you will feel comfortable in your own skin, because you are YOU and not an imitation.
You can do anything you want to do - there are no excuses on this day and age. Your status, your race, your financial position - its relevant. So why aren't you out there getting inspired?
