I haven’t watched all the Fallout episodes yet, but it would be funny if they reference some of the glitches in the game.

Like a settlement where everyone is just standing around in the middle of the night and all the beds are empty.

Or that supporting character just mysteriously ends up on the roof for no reason.

When you can’t focus on watching Fallout, because you keep looking out for easter eggs and game references.

My Roman Empire is that part in the second opening of TAD where the scene closes in on a bouquet of blue roses and the music builds up while the flowers wither away, both representing the passage of time and Fengxian’s deteriorating health. The roses hide a sleeping Lakan in a dark office.

Then the music peaks and he wakes up to light and color - Fengxian and Maomao’s colors.

On Jinshi and Maomao

[spoilers ahead]

What really bothers me still about the Lakan-Fengxian chapters/ episodes is that they. never told. him.

I’m not sure how it plays out in the LN or if there’s more to the story beyond the current manga, but they really hated Lakan so much that they never told him Fengxian was right there.

What they did may be terrible. The consequences of their actions fall on them both (It’s honestly unfair that it damaged her more - unbelievably unfair). To the Verdigris and Fengxian, he probably came off as someone who took what he wanted and just left. Yet it didn’t matter that he came crawling back in that horrified state and kept coming back?

They never told him, even after he came back to the Verdigris over and over again for years after that. Those years after he came back and kept getting beaten by Granny again and again, she never realized, “huh, maybe he really does want to see her.” When they finally let him in and all he ever talked about was his lover and daughter, Meimei didn’t even mention, “oh hey, she’s right next door, by the way.” Granted, she was probably forbidden to.

They could’ve just told Lakan without showing Fengxian. Even if they feared she would get rejected and he wouldn’t like her anymore when he finds out about her condition, she wouldn’t know about it. They had already assumed the worst. And he kept showing up.

The pains they both suffered as a consequence of going against what was acceptable/ customary at the time - they had to go through that alone. One believing she was abandoned, the other thinking he had failed her. And beyond all that, they simply just love each other and didn’t know.

All those years. Between him coming back, Maomao growing up, and him finally finding out, Lakan and Fengxian lost all those years where they could’ve spent whatever was left together.

Fengxian: If you win, I’ll give you anything you’d like. If I win, I’ll take anything I want. Which board would you like to play with?

Lakan: *chooses Go….knowing Fengxian always wins at Go*

The terms were set. He could’ve chosen chess. He was better at chess. He would have won with chess and could get whatever he wanted. But he didn’t want to win, he just wanted to spend time with her.

Just started watching Fruits Basket, and I know it’s late, but let me tell you…

The slow realization that these two,

were voiced by the same VAs that did these two,

with their colors reversed

had me cackling.
