Early 20th Century Design by Rago Auction | Auction Daily
George E. Ohr, often called the United States’ first art potter, blended his artistic vision with extraordinary skill. An 1897-1900 vase designed by Ohr stands out in the upcoming Early 20th Century Design auction, offered by Rago. The vase features a deep in-body twist and ribbon handles with a green and gunmetal sponged-on glaze. The uncommon design of this vase presented a challenge to traditional pottery. In 1905, a young Margaret Dovaston became a member of the Royal Society of British Artists. She was best known for her detailed old English interiors and historic paintings, yet her artworks were mostly imaginative and invented. In the upcoming Fine & Decorative Art auction, Broward Auction Gallery presents over 300 pieces of fine art.
One of Margaret Dovaston’s oil paintings is featured among them. The painting depicts a fireplace scene with three men gathered around the hearth, one pouring a glass of spirits. Aside, a young man plays the piano for an admiring woman. The piece is titled Christmas Song.

Auction Preview - Asian Art Auction By Eldred's
Asian antiques from different dynasties are presented in the upcoming auction by Eldred’s Auction. The Meiji period marked a period of transition in Japanese art. A Meiji era cloisonné enameled koro is a featured Japanese antique. The incense burner is decorated with shaded gold wire landscape by popular cloisonné artist Namikawa Yasuyuki. A Chinese imperial porcelain bowl from the Daoguang period is another highlight of the auction. The bell-shaped porcelain bowl painted with floral design on a yellow ground represents the Qing dynasty art form.

Fine Japanese, Korean, and SE Asian Art Auction | Auction Daily
The Scanlan Collection presents Fine Japanese, Korean, and Southeast Asian Arts. This assortment features such items as a bronze Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara, a bronze Buddha, a Japanese scroll, miniature Satsuma teapot and more.
Featured in the auction is a large, patinated bronze Korean Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara sitting on the back of a lion (circa-16th century). Another item is an 18th or 19th century Buddha from Thailand’s Rattankakosin Period. The bronze Buddha exhibits traits of the earlier Ayutthya Period with the slender figure standing in Samabhanga posture. Samabhanga is a posture where the body stands upright in perfect balance representing the serenity of soul. Also included is a Japanese scroll of a Zen patriarch that is from the Muromachi or Early Edo Period, 16th to 17th century. It has been signed and sealed Kano Motonobu (1476-1559). The scroll, possibly from Montonobu’s studio, has been framed and glazed. View the entire collection and place a bid at Bidsquare today
