Hello, dear anonymous person 👋

First of all, you are very kind, and I appreciate that you would want my interpretation of this absolute masterpiece in the first place. For the sake of differentiating the versions of Chris that appear in the MV, I will be naming the vampire dude as The Count, and the regular dude at the end as good ol' Chris.

This is my personal take only, and everyone is free to interpret it through their own lens.

(Long post with gory stills. Pictures probably will not align side by side as I put them because they never do in asks.)

Everyone's initial reaction to this song was "Omg daddy hit me with that bedroom jam" and who can even blame them? But now that the MV is released, I've had the hardest time connecting the horniness to this fantastic macabre short movie, which left me wondering just how much the MV was hinting at the deeper layers of the song, much like Red Lights did about personal demons.

@ Chris, I know you're fucking lurking around here, so either stop trying to convert your therapist's horrific notes into the sexiest songs ever, or give up on putting horror twists to strip club anthems. I'm getting hella confused here.

A little gushing first: I'm not as much of an avid horror fan as I used to be, but there are niche works that carved their place in my heart for good. One of them is Silent Hill. Not the entire franchise, Silent Hill 2 specifically (which we got a remake this year in October!). This game is one of the reasons I am the person that I am today, creatively and otherwise, with zero exaggeration. The reason why is way too complex to explain in this ask, but suffice it to say when this shit happened:

Below is the silhouette of the protagonist of the game carrying his late wife (allegedly) in prison halls (we never get an actual scene of this in the game but it's gravely important nevertheless):

And the bandaged dudes/dudettes in the MV remind me of the Bubble Head Nurses and a monster called Lying Figure which added fuel to my permanent surprised Pikachu face:

I also highly suggest playing, or at least watching a playthrough of Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened to get into this headspace because The Mountains of Madness level is SO reminiscent of this MV like I can't even oh my fucking GOD!!!!!!!!

Now OFF I GO WITH MY ASYLUM OF A MIND!

To me, this feels like a story of "me vs. me" but the lines of good versus evil might be blurred here. Dare I say it may even be a loop of sorts. Stay with me on this one.

Throughout the entire MV, we see red fabric spread out everywhere in copious amounts, which I personally believe is an allusion to blood (as if there weren't already direct portrayals of it).

Now, the MV opens with The Count seemingly getting assaulted, which will repeat at the 2:24 mark. Then it cuts to the following sequence:

So we know for a fact that The Count got the beating of a lifetime for whatever reason, in a pretty violent manner for that matter. When he wakes up, he goes berserk to free himself, but it seems like he is getting some fancy IV fluids and whatnot. Whoever did this to him didn't intend to actually kill him. Peep the red fabric covering the entire floor.

Interesting that my man has the power to spread fucking bars, but got himself... Anyhoo, we'll get to that later.

Sure, let's say the cane is a fashion choice, but what in the everloving fuck is in that highly questionable bag though?

Once he gets to the top, at the 0:44 mark, the camera gets an angle of him looking below in his lord of darkness-ass demeanor with the cane and everything, as if he's looking into the abyss of the underworld, and we see him walking by the tortured souls behind bars begging to be set free.

Something no source ever mentions: I looked at the lyrics of several streaming services, then Genius etc. but they either quote the lyrics in the first verse as "It's only us but something's saying more, please", OR they omit it entirely just like in the MV:

Something's saying what exactly? It's not saying "more, please" in the first verse. To me, it sounds like either "yeah, please" or "there, please", but it could be something else entirely. It would surely help if the man, the myth, the legend fucking clarified it himself but NOOOOOO there has to be all these layers of mysticism to it.

If he claims Versachoi wrote the lyrics one more time, please @ him the 0:02 mark of the MV where it CLEARLY says he wrote the lyrics all by himself. Some of us need fucking answers to seriously troubling questions to one's existence.

Anyhoo, let's continue.

At the 0:50 mark, we get this ethereal scene, but notice the background is turning upside down, as well as himself (peep the top right piece of leather on his shoulder), which could be interpreted as him going back in time. We 'bout to get to the bottom of this man's rap sheet up in this biatch!

The following sequence incorporates very fast-paced frames one after the other, but there is something that particularly draws attention:

The image at the very top of this post (I can't copy it here again because Tumblr only allows 30 pics per post) says "The evil deed committed always returns to the person who committed it", but that isn't what this sentence translates into. Rather, it's:

After confirming through various sources, I learned it's not grammatically correct. The proper version is probably "Castelul meu este un loc al întunericului" which translates to the same thing. The Romanian reference has to be a tribute to the most famous vampire that ever lived in pages, Count Dracula himself.

From this point on, you see The Count assaulting, choking, biting the bandaged people one after the other. The bandaged people seem to be running free, and he's deliriously happy with blood all over his face.

And I have to mention the scene where he's drinking blood like Capri Sun because it's fucking hilarious.

At the 1:44 mark, you can see the bandaged people pinned in their place. It's as if someone speared them there. They can't move outside the bounds of the spear they are attached to. The legends say vampires can be killed through a stake to the heart soooo...

A moment of silence for me to lose my shit because HELLLLLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

This painting is called "Misty Day" with the caption "Remains of Judgement". YEP, YOU GUESSED IT, IT'S FROM SILENT HILL 2! In case you don't know Pyramid Head, it's arguably THE most iconic horror character of all time and it serves as the personal punisher of the protagonist, found using both a gigantic sword and a spear as pictured. Not to mention, the Toluca Prison level of this game has an entire open area covered with grass just like in the MV and um... let's just say questionable things happen there.

Now we continue.

This entire sequence hits along with the lyrics "Sirens keep on screaming, that's a warning":

The Count is feeding his blood to these... creatures? But there is a questionable aspect to it. First of all:

At the 1:54 mark, you can hear a cracking sound, and in the following scenes, we can interpret that this act of "converting", or whatever feeding blood is referring to, might not be entirely consensual, but rather The Count is forcing them to.

Right after, you see The Count shoving one of these bandaged people against the fences, but at the very beginning of the MV he was subjected to the same treatment himself at the 0:17 mark, and it coincides with the lyrics "Hold tight on to them railings".

Which begs the question: is he taking revenge, or is he being punished for what he's done in the first place? Considering the sequence of the events, probably the latter. At 2:06 mark you see the bandaged people again, and I highly doubt they are praying to the sun. It looks more like they are begging to get out of those barbed wires and away from The Count, and more precisely, to be saved.

Then at 2:12 mark you see a rewind, and The Count sees Chris in whites sitting among all the "blood".

The scene cuts to the same frame as 0:03 mark, and the cane sequence follows. You can see the red fabric at 2:29 as well, and the positioning of the cane at 2:36 hints at this being a stake to the heart. The 2:39 mark depicts a railway made of chains on the very same red fabric, which could allude to the "train" of casualties The Count left behind.

Finally, at 2:49 mark, we see Chris, but I don't necessarily believe this is the "good" version versus the evil because even though he wears white and it's in the opposite eye (the right one versus The Count's left), he still has the same odd eye, and his expression is entirely exasperated as if to say "what a nuisance".

Starting from the 2:59 mark, you can hear the extremely disturbing sounds of agony of The Count behind bars, but it doesn't necessarily mean the evil is defeated. You see Chris walking away with The Count's jacket and dragging away the chair. Why even? What did he feel the need to remove the chair from a murder scene? Why take the jacket? Is it a souvenir to remember his victory by, or is he about to go out there to pose as him?

This very scene may be the beginning of the loop that lands The Count on that coffin looking-ass gurney at the very beginning of the MV in the first place. Does it ever end? Can you really kill the demon that lives inside you? If you kill for the sake of killing evil does it ever absolve you of the fact that you have committed murder? What are those victims representative of? His enemies? The people he cast aside? The people he hurt? The people who hurt him? All of them and none of them at the same time?

Who knows?

Peep Chris' wardrobe change during the tour. It started as black but has been white lately, possibly alternating between the personas. Once you've seen the MV, that "I want more" written all across his back doesn't seem as sexy anymore since he might as well be referring to how he wants to claim more victims and more blood to spill. Maybe this train never sleeps because there will always be someone getting squashed on the rails.

I have barely recovered after watching the MV about two million times, but these are my initial thoughts. Hope you enjoyed my rambling nevertheless.
