The thing about Israel/Palestine I think a lot of people are missing is as Americans we literally had one way to influence anything and that was through federal government because they have the most power of anything foreign policies. Now that Trumps is in presidency there is literally zero we can do to try and curve Netanyahu worst policies because Trump does not care. Three Jewish children were expelled from a private school in Virginia in March after their parents complained about the unaddressed antisemitic bullying their 11-year-old daughter experienced at school.

The school had allowed anti-Semitism to take root in her class—in, for example, this picture of a social studies class project depicting the attributes of a “strong historical leader” with the face of Hitler

The parents of the 11-year-old said their daughter had endured months of “severe and relentless” antisemitic harassment that had gone unresolved by school officials at The Nysmith School for the Gifted.

The school also canceled its annual tradition of hosting a Holocaust survivor to speak about antisemitism, citing concerns about escalating tensions related to the Israel-Hamas war.

You know, I’ve been thinking a lot about how whenever Jews bring up how Not Okay and antisemitic the way people talk about Israelis is, the answer is inevitably “it’s not about Israelis being Jewish, it’s about them being colonizers!”

And like. Forget the ingrained antisemitism that makes them see Jews as colonizers in the first place, for a second. Forget the context of pervasive hatred that’s existed against Jews for thousands of years and has largely defined the most powerful cultures in the world. Forget that they’re blatantly siding with a genocidal extremist group who’s made clear time and time again that their main target is Jews (and also every other minority culture/ethnicity in the Levant). Just forget all of that. Because even if most Israelis weren’t Jewish (and over 20% of Israelis aren’t), even if all of this actually was happening in an alternate universe where antisemitism never existed, that still wouldn’t make the way these people talk about them okay. It would still be utterly disturbing to see such a level of moral justification—at best—for the intentional torture and murder of civilians, including children.

Point is, you can say “I’m not antisemitic, I’m just anti-Zionist and/or anti-Israel” all you want. You can say your rabid hatred for a bunch of random people you’ve never met, who have never done anything to you (and no, your conspiracy theories about Israel inventing capitalism or global warming or whatever don’t count), has nothing to with them being Jewish. And maybe for you, personally, that’s true—but at this point, it doesn’t really matter, because it doesn’t make you any less of a hateful, genocidal monster.
