Akutagawa thought of himself as a lucky man. He went through his hardships but he's found a way back home now. Home. A word that feels so foreign on his tongue. He didn't know what home was till he found you. You treated him with unfamiliar affection. If he saw someone else be so influenced because of someone's touch, he'd scoff...but with you..you were his rock.

Until he met you, he didn't think there was much for him outside the mafia. He was raised to be a weapon, normal society wouldn't suit him. He'd stick out like a bruised thumb. Sometimes the thought of leaving would occur to him but he didn't know anything other than this. It never even crossed his mind that he may fall for a civilian.

He remembers the first time he met you. It was one of those 'meet-cute' situations, something straight out of one of the romcoms his sister used to force him to watch. He recalls thinking about how pretty you looked when you first introduced yourself, then immediately pushing that thought out of his mind.

Now he lays next you in bed, sound and safe next to his saviour. He lets his dart around the darkness, dancing around the small rays of light coming in from the window. He told you to get curtains but you said it was refreshing to wake up with the sun ray on your face. He then lets his eyes focus on you, unconsciously smiling.

"I love you." He mutters uncharacteristically, still enable to say it to you when you're conscious, in complete parallel to you, who said those 3 words around 6 months into dating. You insisted that he didn’t need to return those words, knowing he came from a complex background and how hard it is for him to say stuff like that. He sighs and pulls the covers over your body fluttering his eyelids shut.

“Akutagawa san..?” He’s woken by a slightly nervous voice call out. Immediately he darts his eyes open to face the caller.

Stood in front of him was Higuchi with a breakfast tray in hand and a small smile. He sits up straight in his chair next to your bed, not recalling when he moved to the chair. Perhaps in the middle of the night…perhaps cause the bed is too small for the both you…

“Just leave it Higuchi.” He commanded, standing up and brushing his jacket. She bowed simply and left the tray on the side table. Once she’s out of the room, he turns to face you, moving a stray hair out of your face.

It shouldn’t have been you, you shouldn’t have taken the fall. Now you’re here, in the port mafia infirmary..because of him..because of his job. You’re not part of the port mafia, you don’t know how to defend yourself. He curses to himself, a voice in his head repeatedly telling him he should have been there to protect you.

He feels you shift and immediately snaps back to reality. “Y/N?” He calls out, the tone of desperation clear in his voice.

“Y/N?” He calls out again, “Don’t try to move too much.”

“Ryu?” You croak out, throat slightly dry since you haven’t spoken much. “I’m sorry..I promise I didn’t tell them anything I-” He cuts you off by suddenly kissing you. You feel your face warm up. In nearly 1 year that you’ve known him, he’s never this bold to initiate intimacy.

“Don’t be sorry. It wasn’t your fault.” He says, dragging the chair closer to your bed and sitting down.

You knew better than pressing on to express your guilt, instead you chose to be quiet. “Where are we..?”

“Port mafia infirmary. I assure you this is the last time you’ll ever get involved with something like this.”

“What-what do you mean?” You turn your hair slightly to look at your boyfriend, ignoring the stinging pain in your neck.

“You are in no obligation to be part taking in dating me.” He finally said, avoiding your gaze. You stare in disbelief.

“Obligation in dating you? Ryunosuke this is not how dating works.” You express, eyebrows furrowed.

“It is clear that us being together has only brought on tension and pain into your life. I feel the need to spare you from such discomfort.”

“You’re breaking up with me?” You ask, almost convinced you’ve fallen into an alternative reality.

“I’m not saying that I want to….I..I lov-I just want you to be happy. You did not sign up to be part of this sort of lifestyle.” He said in the most emotionless voice.

“I’m not a naive sheep Ryu! I knew what I was getting myself into.” You say, trying to be calm but your voice betrays you. You try to extend your arm to hold his hands but he pushes them away.

“Don’t be stupid Y/N, do you want to live life in fear?” He barks, running his pale hands through his hair.

“If it means I’m gonna be with you.” You admit, determined to make this work. He finally turns to look at you and to dis dismay completely melts.

“I’ll learn how to fight and defend myself.” You persisted, “I’m sure Gin wouldn’t mind teaching me some—”

“I can’t stand the thought of losing you.” He cuts you off, his voice slightly breaking. “When I found you like this..I couldn’t take it. I don’t want you to leave.”

“I’m not leaving, you could never make me.” You smile lightly, finally having your boyfriend hold your hand.

“Everyone leaves Y/N, everyone ends up hurt. I don’t want you to get hurt because of me, I don’t want to even think about if I found you like that again.” His voice trembles. Your eyes widen, you knew that he carried a lot of emotion burden but never had you seen such a raw version of him.

“It’s selfish to still want you, knowing what the price entails but I’m only a man.” He continues, now looking straight at you. “I love you Y/N.”

If you weren’t shocked before you’re certainly are now. “I love you too.” You say, too excited to contain it.

He stands up, placing your hand in your bed. “Now, if you excuse me I’ll get you something proper to eat.” He announces, looking a lot more relieved. You nod and lean back on to the pillow.

He twists the door nob and opens the shiny metal door, “And if you want to learn how to defend yourself, I’ll teach you.”

"this is ridiculous. i don't need your help." akutagawa grumbles.

"stop being so stubborn, ryuunosuke. you're literally bleeding out and can't move." you roll your eyes, placing another piece of gauze on his face.

although he complains, he makes no move to stop you from patching up his wounds. you place the last piece of gauze on his cheek before looking down at his chest, where a rather large cut sits. you can see the blood seeping into his torn shirt and take a deep breath to calm yourself, already imagining how this conversation is going to go.

“i need you to take off your shirt.” you state.

“no. forget it, i’m fine.” he scoffs and attempts to stand, only to grunt in pain and fall back into his seat.

“don't be ridiculous, ryuu. it’s an open wound and you’re in pain. please, just let me help you.”

“this is nothing.”

“if you keep moving, you’re going to bleed out. please.”

he stares into your pleading eyes, hesitantly looking away to stare at the ground. he doesn’t need help, he never wanted help. yet, his protests don’t affect you like higuchi. he’s not used to letting people in, and letting himself be vulnerable around others. he’s very tempted to say no…but he knows you won’t give up until he gives in.

he sighs and begins slowly taking off his coat, already feeling more vulnerable than he’d ever want to be. his cravat and bloodied and torn dress shirt follow after, the removal of his shirt causing his face to twist in pain. once they’re off, he refuses to make eye contact with you.

“thank you.” you smile.

he grunts in response, glaring daggers at the floor. you grab the antiseptic and cotton balls sitting next to you and start disinfecting the cut; the second your fingers graze his side, you feel him immediately tense up. concerned you may have hurt him, you quickly glance up to apologize, only to see him blushing furiously. he quickly turns his head away from you, his grip on the couch cushions tightening.

"oh ryuu, are you embarrassed?" you tease.

"shut up!" he snaps, the pink still evident on his cheeks.

"are you ticklish?" you continue in a playful tone.

"if you don't plan on patching me up, i'm going to leave."

"okay, okay! i was just joking ryuunosuke."

you continue cleaning up the area with the antiseptic and cotton balls, but you can see that every touch left on his skin leaves him very flushed. every time you placed your hand on his chest or his side, he would try to cover his embarrassment with a cough. it honestly amused you, seeing the Rabid Dog of the Port Mafia so flustered by just you touching his bare chest.

there's about 7 bloody cotton balls that sit on the table by the time you finish cleaning the cut, and to say akutagawa was relieved would be an understatement. next you grab the bandages and stare at him, waiting for him to finally look at you. he still refuses to.

"what?" he asks defensively, feeling your gaze on him.

"arms out." you instruct, gesturing your arms outwards

"tch. i'm not a child." he grumbles, lifting his arms.

"ryuu, i can't wrap the bandage around you if your arms are in the way." you deadpan.

sometimes he can be so ridiculous, you thought.

you begin wrapping the bandage around his chest and realize just how close you are to him. every time you wrap it around his body and move closer to reach his back, he tenses and stops breathing. you glance up at him, trying to hide your smile, and see him with cheeks painted pink and panicked eyes fixated on anything but you.

“is it too tight?” you ask, pausing your ministrations.

“…no.” he answers quietly with a cough.

“good.”

you finish wrapping him up and secure it in place before moving away to give him space. he looks at you expectantly, waiting for confirmation that you’ve finished.

“all done.” you nod.

he reciprocates your nod and clears his throat, immediately grabbing his dirtied dress shirt and putting it on carefully. he begins to stand with a pained expression, causing you to instinctively throw your arms out to grab his and help him stand.

“do you need hel-“

“no.” he quickly dismissed your concerns.

once he’s standing, he throws on his coat and heads for the door, not sparing you a second glance. he pauses when his hand grips the knob and turns his head slightly towards you.

“…thank you.”

so I just wanted to write how I think BSD charters would react to their s/o getting a nose bleed. (um and the reader HATES blood cus i do to)

Akutagawa

Akutagawa had the weekend off and he was glad to have the weekend with you of course hes not going to tell you that tho- *sadness*

Ryu was laying in bed reading a book (big brain vibes) while he was laying in bed the door was open he heard you in the kitchen in your shared apartment, a sound of something falling happen Akutagawa didn't think of anything of it at first till he heard the sound of crying- Akutagawa jumped out of bed well kinda he first freaked out but than checked himself saying “im strong why im a freaking out. tch” he than walked to the kitchen and saw you on the floor he than bent down and helped you up.

“a-are you okay (y/n)-” Akutagawa said looking at the blood ruining down your nose and a bit of blood on the floor were your face was.

“i-im o-okay” you said sobbing

(tbh i feel if you told Aku that you hated blood and it made you sick he would try his best to not show u blood or anything but i feel he would be super gently with you if you got hurt and you had like blood from a wound)

“i dont want you to freak out but..- you have a bloody nose-” Akutagawa said

“i what!” while your crying calmed down a bit you looked at where your face was and there was a bit of blood on the floor and soon as you saw that you stared sobbing again and of course you touched your nose and looked at your hand there was blood and a lot at that fact.

Akutagawa slowly picked you up to stand and you guys walked over to the bathroom Akutagawa picked you up and but you on the sink, he grabbed the first ad kit and some tissues.

“Aku-t-tagawa am i going to die!” you said while crying

“(y/n) your going to be fine, its just a bloody nose,” Akutagawa said cleaning your nose before he asked to put a tissue up your nose

(i feel like Akutagawa being a little nurse would be so cute- and i feel he would know how to stop bloody noses fast bc yk fightin)

after Akutagawa cleaned you up from your bloody scene

“what even happend” Akutagawa said while you guys moved to the couch

“i slipped- and fell and hit my face” you said looking at Akutagawa with sad teary eyes

Akutagawa sighed,

“your so clumsy” he said

he kissed your tear stained face and than your forehead, you guys stayed and watched movies the rest of the night. and you didnt die!

Dazai

when ever dazai would get a paper cut and you were by him he always saw you wince and look away so when you told him you hated blood he told you he knew it which made you a bit shocked.

you and dazai were walking home, you guys were just about home, you an dazai were talking about your day and what y'all did, and out of no where you ran into a poll and you fell on your butt, first dazai laughed so hard, but than he saw you start crying and than saw your nose was bleeding,

“DAZAI! IM BLAMING THIS ON YOU” you screamed at him while crying

“belladonna-.. your nose is bleeding-” dazai said bending down to you

you touch your nose to see red blood on your fingers

“dazai- ima pass out” you said crying grabbing onto you boyfriend

“come on, belladonna- homes just a bit away” dazai said

he picked you up from the ground and you guys walked to your house dazai brought you into the bathroom and you sat on the toilet while he cleaned your nose and he asked if he could put the tissue in your nose,

you guys cuddled the rest if the night.

Chuuya

as much as chuuya try’s to remember everything about you, blood was not one he remembers 100%, so when you and chuuya were at the mafia, you accidentally fell in front of chuuya in his office face first, your face did still hit the floor but chuuya used his ability so the fall was to bad.

chuuya came over to you on the floor he picked you up and saw your face “Damn that’s a lot of blood” he said staring at you. “WHAT! omgamigoingtodieomgchuuyaomg” you said quickly, chuyya than remembered you hated blood so he one said its not that much blood, you still panicked. chuuya helped you off the ground and took you to the bathroom in his office, you sat on the toilet while chuuya grabbed some tissues to clean the blood up. he wiped your tears from your face and kissed your forehead. he put a tissue up your nose to stop the bleeding and after that chuuya let you sit on his lap the whole time he worked and when you guys went home you didn't leave his side.

Kenji and you together would be so sweet! He would often invite himself over to your place just to spend time with you, whether if it’s playing animal crossing or doing outdoor activities. Whenever someone bullies him, you’d stand up for him and he would do the same with you. Imagine running out of sweets, him sneaking into Ranpo’s place just to steal some for you but instead fails miserably. in your shared apartment with Atsushi, you woke up with Atsushi cuddling your side. you stroked his head and sighed. you smiled you and Atsushi finally had a break from work. you slowly got out of bed and went into your kitchen to make breakfast, it was 9:30 you and Atsushi would get up at 7 usually, it felt nice to sleep in for a bit. as you finished making breakfast, you went to wake up Atsushi.

“Atsushi! wake up i made breakfast!” you said shaking Atsushi awake

Atsushi woke up and yawned he sat up and stared at you for 5 secs 

“Atsushi breakfast-” you said

“breakfast, BREAKFAST!” Atsushi jumped out of bed and ran to the kitchen. he loved your cooking. you joined Atsushi at the table you guy talked about what you guys were going to do today.

“we could watch a movie!” Atsushi said finishing his last bit of food

“we could! could we go shopping!” you asked with puppy dog eyes.

Atsushi blushed

“o-of course” he said looking away from you

“well lets get dressed!” you said smiling at him. 

you took your plates and put them in the sink and went to your room to change. you changed into your (fav outfit) as Atsushi put on a nice t-shirt and some jeans, you guys left your apartment and started shopping, you guys went to the clothes store first and bought your favorite clothes, and ect (any of your fav shops) you guys went into a bakery and got your fav sweets and than walked around town hand in hand looking around the town, doing little things like taking pics with him. one pic you kissed his cheek and he became as red as a tomato. at the end of the day as the sun set you guys went home and changed into your pj's and watched movies rest of the night cuddling to.

"tell me."

akutagawa's voice broke the silence between you two as you walked home from school. his cold hand held yours and tugged it slightly to make you stop in your tracks. when you turned to look at him, you found the usual blank expression sitting on his face as his eyes examined yours, searching for anything. to a stranger, he'd look disinterested, but you knew he was concerned.

you averted your gaze and answered coyly, "tell you what, ryu?"

"tell me what's wrong."

"i'm fine ryu, there's nothing-"

"don't lie to me y/n. i know something's wrong, you've been...different all day."

his voice became quieter, almost as if he was embarrassed to go on. the thing about akutagawa ryuunosuke is he's very observant. he doesn't speak much to anyone except for you and gin, but he is always listening. it may seem like he's aloof, but he notices the little things when it comes to you.

he dropped your hand as he began staring at the ground, fixing the strap of his school bag, and continuing, "you were quieter today, and you...smiled a lot less than usual. and when you did smile, your mouth was closed. you only started doing that a couple days ago. you seem...deflated."

your hand fiddled with your skirt as you listened to him, a faint blush on your cheeks as you realized how truly observant he is. you tried so hard to make it not obvious, to try and go about your day acting normal, but nothing gets past akutagawa.

you sighed, "it's really not a big deal...i'm just feeling insecure about my smile."

akutagawa looked at you puzzled, "your smile? what's wrong with it?"

"have you not seen the clunky pieces of metal glued to them? they're just so unappealing...i don't know, my braces just make me feel so unattractive."

akutagawa sat in silence for a few seconds staring back at the ground. you words were being processed in his mind, and then he quietly asked, "did someone say this to you?"

"n-no, ryu. i promise no one said anything to me or made me feel this way. it's just my own thoughts."

silence fell over you two again. akutagawa was looking at you, his hand hesitantly reaching out to yours. he's not one for pda, but he found that he liked how happy you look when you hold his hand. he's also not the best at expressing his emotions, as you had found out as you got to know him, but every cog in his brain was in overdrive trying to formulate a sentence or action that captured exactly how he felt when he looked at you.

you gasped when you felt his hand grasp yours and his other hand caress your face. he had never come this close to kissing you in public before and you were shocked to say the least. you could tell he was a bit uncomfortable by the red that painted his cheeks, but it warmed your heart that he was trying.

his brain almost short circuited at the very thought of kissing you in public, so he instead ran his thumb across your lips and gently rested his forehead against yours. your heart was beating out of your chest as his fingers intertwined with yours. it was so unlike him to get so close in public, yet he was doing it.

he took a shaky breath before saying, "y-you're pretty, idiot. tch. making me say such unnecessary things. how do you not see how attractive you are?"

"ryu..."

your eyes widened at his statement. akutagawa was always awkward with his feelings, it was not often that he was so direct with compliments. it made you want to cry.

"look, your smile is attractive. no, it's more than that...it's b-beautiful. i feel...happy when you smile." he pulled his head back and his eyes searched your face again for any sign that his words made sense.

you could feel the lump in your throat and the tears threatening to drop as you stared back at him. this was the most expressive he had ever been with you. his words felt like fresh warm laundry, welcoming and comforting when you're fighting a storm.

"so smile. i want you to smile." he commanded.

you could feel your lip quivering, but the overwhelming feeling of joy filled you as his words replayed in your head. your lips turned upward into a big grin as a tear slid down your cheek. you could see a bit of panic on his face as he watched the tear fall, but you quickly wiped it away and placed your hand on the one caressing your face.

"thank you, ryu. i'm happy."

"good." he smiled slightly.

you both continued your walk home hand in hand and with a loving smile decorating your face.

I could feel Akutagawa would be super drunk or just like idek-

but for this, he's just missing his s/o! (hella short)

he came through the door and took off his coat, Akutagawa usually would leave his coat on, you were in the bedroom on the bed reading a book, when Akutagawa came through the bedroom door your eyes looked u to him with his coat off struggling to not fall over from exhaustion. you got up from the bed put your book down and went to Akutagawa, it wasn't a rare sight to see him so tired, as you took his coat and got him some clothes to change to he sat down closing his eyes.

"rough day?" you said handing him his clothes

"yeah.. I missed you" he said opening his eyes to look at yours blush forming on your cheeks

"I missed you to Akutagawa" you smiled

Akutagawa went to the bathroom and shower and came out in the clothes you gave him just shorts and a t-shirt.

he came to the bed and grabbed your body making you come closer to him. you looked at Akutagawa as he rested on your side, you stroked his head slowly

"... I love you Akutagawa," you said looking at his head as you stroke his head, it was normal for you to tell him you love him but usually he would just nod or kiss you.
