my thing about datv is i have literally no beef with people who enjoy the game like you'll catch me dead before you catch me shitting on fans for the simple crime of being fans but what i think is actually borderline disgusting is how many fans feel the need to shit on everyone else for not liking the game and refusing to separate their enjoyment from the degradation of everyone else who dares criticize it. its never normal ass criticism either its insane reductive garbage like "disliking the sanitization of the setting makes you a rape fetishist" or "wanting more conflict between characters is an indication you are emotionally stunted" like unironically in what world do you live in where these are even remotely sane conclusions to draw about people who didn't like your insane corporatized fanfic

On a personal note what makes me real upset about the original plan for DATV getting scrapped and replaced with live service then Veilguard is...a lot of what I predicted/was excited about was PLANNED! I was RIGHT ABOUT IT and then they CUT IT.

Cole being important, Exalted March declared, Sten cameo, Calpurnia as companion, Solas has the potential to end up tranquil, we save whoever we left in the fade and they're fucked up, elven uprising, Dorian as an advisor figure, etc. ... These were things I was actively excited about. I was excited about finding out how our choice of divine effected things. How our choice of leader for Orlais. How the WELL affected things. And like. They planned to address all of this.

It just. It makes me so sad.

i think some of you dont like narratives or stories or characters i think you just like fanfiction tropes

ppl will be like i don’t want to read ooc fics and not realise fans have so many personal interpretations of canon that ooc means a different thing to different ppl. like my favourite fics i’ve ever read all have slightly different characterisations and yet i devour them all with hunger. what makes a fic great, to me, maybe has more to do with consistency of voice than with a consensus on what ‘in character’ means, more to do with the quality of writing and the strength of the premise and whether my heart gets shattered and healed or not

And when the BioWare layoff news came out, many people had no sympathy because they believed the writers were at fault for Veilguard’s failure, not the execs at the studio or at EA. Now that the EA CEO came out and used stupid corpo buzzwords to basically say, the game failed because it wasn’t a live service game, can these people see, who the fuck is more likely at fault? The writers who helped develop the good games in the franchise, or this sort of fucking money hungry clueless narcissistic business people?
