This is my space for posting completed projects (including but not restricted to paintings, drawings, robots, circuit boards, recipes, models, and fiber crafts), project updates, and random shite. This has become more a repository of recipes and bento stuff than I had anticipated. Measures must be taken.

Emil Bove and Jeanine Pirro are disastrously advancing to the full Senate
Please contact your Senator!
He ought to be disbarred, not given a life time appointment to end the rule of law.
If you can't safely contact them in person, here are some other options for contacting your Congress Critter:
Five Calls to your critters: https://5calls.org/
Here is one that will send your reps a fax: https://resist.bot/
And another: https://faxzero.com/fax_senate.php

Listen, friends, you have to understand that I defend people you hate.
It’s all well and good to hear that I defend children by speaking to them like humans. It may be less easy to hear that my child clients aren’t just accused of shoplifting or shoving their parents, but of sexual abuse of siblings, breaking into stores to rob them, crashing cars with their friends inside, threatening school shootings.
I represent sex offenders. I’ll defend a sex offender’s rights in the same breath as the rights of their victim.
I can talk about abuse with authority not just because I’ve read books but because I’ve represented abusers for years upon years, and watched them come back to court for crimes against the same victims.
I believe in the inherent value of human life no matter what horrible things that human life has done. I’m a pacifist and I disavow violence in all forms but I’ll make excuses for it all day in a courtroom.
I’ve put my money where my mouth is; I defend the “worst” of humanity because I can see with my two human eyes that it’s the only way to preserve the freedom of the “best” of humanity.
My job isn’t just being kind to the innocent. It’s being kind to them AND the worst people you’ve ever met, over and over and over, every day. Most people go their lives not really gazing regularly into the abyss. Public defenders be like, “hey, abyssal horrors beyond imagination, how’s Tuesday going.”

one of the most enlightening realizations ive had was finding out that non-24 hour circadian rhythm people were a pretty large group and most of us have oddly similar cycles of usually around 28hr internal "days" and this masquerades as "insomnia" but if allowed to sleep and wake naturally we will just advance forward through time an extra 2-4 hours a day at a relatively stable pace. we can't go to school or jobs or even run errands on normal schedules without massive pharmacological and behavioral intervention. most of the people who have been diagnosed or figured it out themselves will report horrific, life-ruining disruption in their professional lives and terrible health from accrued lack of sleep. this disorder is most common in vision-impaired people which seems to suggest it's related to light cues. anyway just thinking about this as extremely loud yard work woke me up at 8am for the second day in a row

This is one of those true, declassified government things that always sounds made up but one of the things Henry Kissinger did with his career was use the CIA to help turn small, prosperous socialist nations into fascist dictatorships just to keep those nations powerless and possibly to keep socialist systems *looking* doomed and futile to the American public, like maybe just to scare Americans out of demanding better infrastructure or universal income. Yes it sounds like an insane conspiracy theory a maniac would invent. It also happened multiple times and several generations of people around the world are still living in misery because of it.

ok im going to #seriouspost for a second here. I don't think Harry Potter is a manifesto. I think it was a flawed passion project that millennials latched onto because of the fantasy of sticking it to their mean teachers and arbitrarily categorizing themselves (hogwarts houses; it's the thinking millennial's astrology). I think the fact that the series got popular when and how it did was very much a product of its time.
I don't think Harry Potter is the biggest symbol of JKR's bigotry. I think the most flagrant sign of that was how she responded to critics. I watched her become radicalized in real time. I watched how she doubled down on her racism when she was called out for the ways she promoted her tragically mid fantastic beasts movies. I watched her chase marginalized teenagers with a double digit follower count off of twitter for daring to criticize her thought process, and no one with any kind of power standing against her because she was the one who was paying them. This isn't to say Harry Potter is without flaws. This is to say she really didn't give a shit about that. Getting rich and powerful is a hell of a drug, and she had enough sycophants that she had no reason to care about what her critics were saying.
She was convinced that she was a martyr; a voice for the unheard; a leader for the ages, so of course her detractors were the bad guys. And I think we should take this to heart. We should see this as an example of how easy it is to get radicalized; if you think of yourself as a paragon of virtue, you are going to think that whatever you see as good and right is an objective fact. Most people don't know this, but the majority of terfs start out as trans allies. You are not immune to propaganda! You are not immune to falling into dangerous ideologies!!!
This is why the most important thing you can do as an activist is to listen. Do NOT think you're above being wrong; do NOT develop a god complex; do NOT form an identity out of being right all the time. Involve yourselves in the groups you claim to speak for. Listen to trans women; share resources that help trans women; familiarize yourself with the diversity of experiences that trans people have and the struggles they face.
No, none of you are as bad as JKR because you don't have her money or her power. You will likely never have the capacity for harm she does. But check yourselves. Do not affirm yourselves into thinking you always have the moral high ground. Watch yourselves; humble yourselves; check yourselves for signs of cult behavior and internalized prejudice. You are always learning. You will always be learning. Do not allow yourselves to get a power trip from brushing off marginalized voices.

Ok so, I just remembered how people in the comments of a tiktok video were being assholes, and I want to rant now :3
The video showed two wheelchair users at a train(?), who had just arrived to their stop to find nobody was there with a ramp so they could leave the train. One of them blocked the door so it wouldn't close, and this lasted for 15 minutes. The train was stopped for said 15 minutes. There was a button by the door, that said that it'd contact the driver when pressed. It didn't. People offered to go find the driver, and they came back with the news that there were no people in the platform to put the ramp. In the end, passengers had to go out, and place the ramp themselves, before the train could carry on. The wheelchair users had warned they were coming, and asked to have the ramp put there so they could get down. The platform turned out to have workers, they all just ran away because they'd never encountered the situation in which they needed to do this simple task.
Because of the workers' negligence, the train was forced to stop for 15 minutes.
Everyone's comments?
"Why did they block the doors and stop the train? So selfish" Selfish were workers who refused to do their job.
"What if someone had needed to get to their stop urgently? They shouldn't have stopped the train" It wasn't the disabled people's fault, it was the workers who were negligent.
"Why didn't they just wheel themselves down those steps?" They shouldn't have to risk their (expensive) chairs just because people didn't do what they were paid to do.
"If I had been in that train I would've been pissed, how dare you stop it" And you probably wouldn't have even thought about fixing the problem yourself, would you?
"Entitled assholes" Ok I'll leave you stranded in a train with everyone who could help you get down outright refusing to. Let's see who's an entitled asshole now.
If someone fights for accessibility, as much as it might be a bother for you, you do not have the right to be mad at them. If someone fights for accessibility, it is exclusively the fault of a world catered exclusively for able-bodied people.
So next time you think, "hey the consequences of these disabled people fighting for their rights bother me", instead of blaming them for this, help them solve the issue. This way, next time they will not have to fight at all.
Able bodied people, go out and fight for a fucking accessible world if you're not an asshole.
[ Able-bodied people are encouraged to reblog this post, but try not to derail ]

There's a few media properties I won't make art or fic for.
Not because I don't enjoy them, and certainly not because I have any moral objection about doing so.
But because I do not want to end up as the subject of the test case for Disney v The Organization for Transformative Works. Equally so with anything Kadokawa puts out, and Universal. The people who are brave enough to write fic for things owned by those IP holders while knowing exactly how litigious those corporations are have wills of steel.
I'm just gonna stay in my safe pond with things that have much less litigious IP holders.

It's important to remember that Luigi Mangione is being framed for murder. The "evidence" they have on him is absolute clown shoes absurd.
They're trying to win this by swaying public opinion. That's why they're doing movie deals about it and staging ridiculous photo ops.
They're gonna try to give this kid the death penalty to cover up for their own gross incompetence and in the hopes that they scare the working class out of trying to fight back.
Please don't help them do this by using his name as a synonym for political assassinations. Please do not perpetuate the idea that he's guilty.

for no reason whatsoever here’s a reminder that if you consider yourself a leftist/punk/abolitionist/anarchist/radical in any sort of way and get called into jury duty, you are to become the most square person on earth during the jury questionnaire!!!
don’t be that guy who says fuck the police in the jury questionnaire! that just gets you sent home! if you want to generate change, interact with the case and use your jury vote for good! ESPECIALLY if it’s a high profile case!

I don't wanna hear one more bitch saying that contacting your senators&reps doesn't work
Btw, this is FAR from getting rid of the land selloff from the BBB. Keep at it. Mike Lee specifically is notable because he's from Utah, the state that's pushed for that sell off very heavily for mining income.

I was called a genocide denier for *checks notes* telling some fans to stop being bigoted towards Jews.
"Hey it's really important to not target a minority with dehumanization and bigotry-"
"GENOCIDE DENIER!"
It's the exact same silencing tactic the Right has used for decades now. Be loud and obnoxious in the face of facts and when you're confronted on your shitty behavior. Yell some buzzword, make wild accusations, beat your chest.
You're right - that is the exact same silencing  tactic.
This has a name.
It's called Moral Bludgeoning.
It's using a false binary morality as a tool to gain an advantage in a disagreement, rather than engaging in reasoned discourse.
The goal of the tactic isn't truth, understanding, or justice. It's enforcing obedience. Control through social punishment.
You said something they found threatening - that people in a supposedly righteous movement were behaving in a way that was, in fact, bigoted.
Grappling with that would require introspection, accountability, and nuance...and their movement punishes those things.
You were pointing out information which doesn't fit into their binary, the binary which assures them they're good people. They needed to shut you up fast before they risked feeling less than utterly righteous.
The people doing this often aren't stupid , but they're always frightened.
They're terrified of complexity which kiddies the narrative.
Terrified of being cast out of their peer group for failing to adhere to the narrative.
Terrified of losing control of the narrative, because most of them derive their sense of personal legitimacy from the narrative.
So they flatten. Nuance becomes complicity. Dissent becomes betrayal. Complexity or moral ambiguity become denial.
You're also right that Moral Bludgeoning is used by both the right and the left.
Both extremes use it to keep the middle silent.
On the far Right, you see this play out in culture war accusations:
Criticize police abuse? You must be a Marxist anarchist terrorist!
Question US military spending? You hate America!
Say trans people should have rights? You're grooming children.
On the far Left, it’s the same energy, but different buzzwords:
Ask for civility toward Jewish people? You're a genocide apologist.
Note that Hamas isn't progressive? You’re a racist colonialist.
Point out antisemitism in "anti-Zionist" spaces? You're weaponizing your trauma to silence Palestinians.
It's never about the truth, it's about making the social cost of nuance unbearable.
Tactics like Moral Bludgeoning are enforcement mechanisms of rigid ideologies.
Healthy movements can tolerate disagreement, but ideologically rigid movements (right or left!) treat any deviation as a threat.
That's why you'll hear the same people screaming about "freedom of speech" one minute, then shrieking “DENIER” the next.
It's not even really hypocrisy in their minds, because they believe their cause grants them moral supremacy which entitles them to do almost anything. And that includes the entitlement to silence you in the name of righteous justice...and be as antisemtic as they like.
The real power of this tactic is in how it bypasses reasoning entirely and goes straight to two of our most powerful emotions: shame and fear.
You nailed this too:
"Be loud and obnoxious in the face of facts..."
That's exactly the tactic. The louder and more confident the accusation, the more it floods the emotional bandwidth of the conversation, making any reasoned dialogue impossible.
It works because people fear social isolation more than factual errors. No one wants to be the next target, so the mob roars together to drown you out.
The tragedy is that you were trying to do what they claim to care about.
You didn't defend war crimes or deny suffering.
You were doing the thing that movements need in order to remain sane: holding your own side accountable to its stated values.
Movements sometimes die from internal intolerance and ideological purity tests.
I think this is part of why the SDS movement of the 60s and 70s fizzled out. I think Occupy Wall Street fell victim to endless internal policing around privilege, language, and ideological orthodoxy and meetings devolved into ritual purity checks instead of coming up with and promoting actual policy ideas. I think this is a good explanation for what brought about the Reign of Terror in France.
The inability to tolerate nuance is where intellectual rot begins.
The people who did this to you aren't fighting oppression. They're just enforcing ideological purity at the expense of reality. It's an old and stupid game.
Can I tell you, though, how much I appreciate this Ask?
It's more evidence that there are many in the large middle who are repulsed by both ends of the Horseshoe. There are many who still care about evidence, reason, pragmatism, and avoiding ideological groupthink.
There are still people who know that justice requires complexity. There are still people who don't think standing up against antisemitism is something to be ashamed of.
Thinking critically and voicing those thoughts makes you feel like a threat to people on either far end of the political spectrum, all who rely on false binaries and performative loyalty.
So keep doing it.
Let them rage. Let them shriek their buzzwords. Just hold the line.
You saw clearly and quickly that this was not about justice, it was about obedience...and you didn't bend the knee.
Do you have any idea how much that pisses them off?
Well done, Anon.
