Happy Cyborg 009 Day! It's still going strong 61 years later, with a new anime and second stage play announced!! I wanted to celebrate with a deep cut, closet cosplay of Francoise in her tweed suit disguise.
A woman after my own heart lmao

The basque has since gotten closures, and I found some ivory gorgette I bought for a new Serenity gown like years ago. I ended up using metallic thread for the narrow hem to bring back that iridescent detailing I had originally planned. There is a load bearing skirt slip under that, that helps shape the georgette and keep it from looking sad.
The push up balconnette cups were lined in a beige jersey before assembly, and covered in that same sanded/brushed satin before hand finishing the top to prep for ballet elastic straps. I'm awaiting some more bones and underwire, so the bust hasn't been heat formed yet lol. They almost look like paper plates on the mannequin!
My garter design has also been transferred with frixion pen on the same satin as everything else. I just need to finish painting it on before sewing the trims together. I'm also finishing up the armor patterns while I wait for hardware, and so far it's been easy sailing. I hope sewing the real thing doesn't throw me any curve balls.

Love Angel Salvia (Wedding Peach) Project Thread

I've started working on Salvia and am taking a fun "wedding-night-battle-lingerie" approach with a bit of ballet construction influence too. If you're looking for a well rounded resource book that includes patterns I can't suggest Amanda Halls Making Tutus enough. McCalls M7615 bodice looks like a great basic base to build balconette cups into, and will surely make an appearance again as I bought it with a few costumes in mind.

The garter has me torn in two directions so I'll likely be making two main bands and seeing how they go with the full costume before deciding. Generally speaking though I'm carrying over the motif from the armored garters into a 90's full frilled abomination. The look of armored garters I like on paper but not in practice. For the first option I've made a repeating pattern guide to transfer to the fabric with a light table. The other option I will share later, but has already taken a few hours to pattern out one detail lmao.

Had some time today and surprised myself by knocking out the bodice, skirt slip, basque, and ballet panty for Salvia. I caught a mistake on my paper pattern for her balconette cups and fixed that, thankfully hadn't cut the parts out of foam yet so it was fine. Once those and the bones are in I should be able to fit the strap elastic without too much issue.
As for my skirts, the store I bought my metallic chiffon from really botched the cutting. Like by a full foot I can't cut my skirts from it and the price has since tripled (tariffs). So, trying not to focus on that too much because it's such a motivation killer. I'll rummage through my stash when the bodice is completed and see if there is anything to work with, otherwise I will pivot entirely to something else. In the meantime I did have an old sanded satin remnant from joann that I managed to squeak her slip out of. Silver linings.

*sad trombone* I won't go into details at risk of annoyed ranting, but my skirt fabric for salvia has had several issues I'm waiting to resolve. SO in a twist of fate I am back again to working on Akari. If anything this is forcing me to finish the idol outfit and decipher my year old notes.
I'll try and share more WIPs this next week, maybe that will help get back into the groove. With the state of everything it's hard to find opportunities to do something I enjoy, but I'm trying to prioritize that within reason.
