Toast with honey and sliced bananas on top. A close second is cornflakes with frozen berries mixed in. Always with a hot mug of green tea
If I ask nicely will people reblog this and tell me what their most common breakfast is? Not your favorite necessarily, just what you have for breakfast most frequently? 🙏🏽

Hey, amidst the chaos of... everything on the internet, pay attention to Hawaii/Hawai'i!
There have been plans from a non Hawaiian organisation to build a 5 acre parking lot, 13 lot subdivision and a comfort station for tourists on the ridge of the sacred Pololū Valley!
This project doesn't acknowledge Pololū Valley as a wahi pāna (a celebrated and storied place in the cultural traditions of Hawaii/Hawai'i) and instead treats it as just plain land that can be sold to a highest bidder.
Pololū Valley is anything but that.
So please sign the petition to stop this project! As of writing this, 883,470 people have, but we need more!
Petition to protect Pololū Valley
Reblog to reach more people, please! Don't just like and move on, sign the petition and make sure more people see this!

I know there are people out there who genuinely felt empowered by this archetype and to each their own. I get the sense that the writers WANTED any girl audience members who watched a female character take on so many important tasks to FEEL empowered, like "Look how smart, strong and tough she is."
but growing up I always HATED the 'Responsible girl' archetype. The boys got to have fun, and be spontaneous, while the girl of the group had to take on the burdens and that sucked. Even more so she was often made fun of for being a 'stick in the mud' taking on all the tasks that the boys of the group used their weaponized incompetence to get out of doing.
And on top of that, you'd think someone who does all the important tasks of keeping the group on track would be 'Team leader' but nope. That role had to go to the "Cool" main character who who'd just coast by with luck and instincts. How shitty is that?
And what's worse, is that you'd get misogynists ass holes in the fandom complaining about how much it pisses them off that "the girls are presented as so much smarter than the boys", as though anyone ASKED for their female representation to be joyless, stick in the mud, mommies to boys their own age.
this has been discussed before but reducing female characters to the girlboss braincell holder in the name of combating misogyny in fandom is ironically also a form of misogyny

@somthing-lavender Thanks!
Are there any comics that take place during the time when Lois Lane was pregnant? It doesn't have to be apart of the main plot, just some stories that happen to take place during that particular time period in Clark and Lois's relationship. I know she's pregnant for a little while in Injustice before things get sad but I was thinking of something more fun.
Like imagine Clark going a little overboard making sure his wife is safe and comfortable, sometimes to Lois's annoyance.
He hears the baby kicking miles away and quickly races home in time to be able to feel.
He's handing a villain over to police custody
Superman: "When will you learn that crime doesn't-"
*pauses, suddenly looks up like a dog who just saw a squirrel, thinks to himself "Is Lois going into labor?... No, false alarm."
Superman: "- Pay!"
Also Lois wouldn't let being pregnant slow her down one bit.
*Lois and Jimmy are looking over a disaster sight.
Lois: "I think I'm gonna be sick."
Jimmy: "It is pretty gruesome isn't it?"
Lois: "No, it's just morning sickness."
Or imagine if Lois was caught snooping as she does and was discovered by a security officer.
Officer: "What are you doing here?"
Lois: "Uhh... OH NO, I'M GOING INTO LABOR! QUICK GET HELP!"
*Officer runs off to call an ambulance while Lois continues her snooping.

So yellow solar radiation gives Kryptonians extraordinary powers and red solar radiation puts them on par power wise as an average human, but they still evolved to gain nutrients from sunlight wherever they are right? Even if the red sun didn't give them super abilities, it was giving them the needed vitamins to live. As such food, water, regular sleep, regular exercise, etc, I imagine those things were more optional for them. We know they CAN eat and sleep. Clark does it whenever he wants, so clearly they have all the necessary organs, it's just that it's not needed to thrive and survive.
That must mean that they had a very different relationship with food, drink, sleep, and exercise than we do.
That kinda fascinates me.
Do you think eating and drinking in general was like some kind of treat for them? Like they only consumed food at special occasions? What would their recipes be like if they never needed to worry about nutritional intake?
What about sleep or exercise? Were those just hobbies? Maybe some Kryptonians were born with a disability that made absorbing sunlight more difficult for them and they needed to supplement consuming food and drink, sleeping, or exercise.
I dunno, It just kinda fascinates me what kind of culture would spring up among a people for whom, sleeping, eating, drinking, and exercise was a choice they could opt into or out of instead of it being necessary.

Y'know what I love in fiction? When a character is made to wear something not ideal for the situation, but fuck it, adventures are happening right now and it's gonna be a while before anyone can change outfits.
Woken up in the middle of the night by an emergency? I'm saving the day in pajamas I guess.
Villain has kidnapped me and forced me into a pretty dress? This is now my kidnapper strangling outfit.
Have to knock out a lackey, steal their clothes as a disguise while leaving them tied up in their underpants in a broom closet? Oh no I've been caught! Oh well! Not my personal style but I'm gonna be lookin hella fly while I'm blasting my way outta here.

I have a few concerns with the "Everyone on Krypton has powers like Clark does on earth idea".
How did they construct their world? Things are made with the expectation you can't just break them with your bare hands. If I accidentally push on a pull door nothing happens, but if a superhuman were to do that, it would get destroyed. Does everyone on Krypton just live in homes that they can turn to rubble by accidentally tripping over the coffee table and smashing into the floor? What materials would they have to build something solid and sturdy for them?
That leads me to the next concern. Clark's powers are a reminder that the world he lives in wasn't made for him in mind. There's no accommodations for the way his body is. He dreams about a life on Krypton because he knows that he wouldn't have to take the extra precautions he does on Earth and there are plenty of stories that explore that aspect of him. (For example there are stories where he temporarily looses his powers and he's able to experience going out drinking with friends and getting drunk for the first time) That would go away if he was always meant to live as a super powered being.
The red sun radiation is a good weakness for Superman. It makes him de powered without making him writhe on the floor in pain like Kryptonite does. Thus opening up story opportunities where he has to break out of a trap using his wits.
I do however like the idea that Kryptonians were able to absorb red sun light and not necessarily gain extra human abilities, but absorb nutrients the same way plants do. Maybe they don't gain super strength but they can live off of the red sun rays in a way that makes consuming food, or needing sleep optional. Maybe everyone on Krypton isn't SUPER strong but they are jacked in a way that comes from always having the exact right specific nutrients that your body needs to be in top form, and being able to absorb light being common knowledge would then lead to scientists like Jor EL researching how a kryptonian body reacts to absorbing other kinds of light and that being how he comes to discover Earth as a place he could send his baby.
Superman Ideas That “Stuck” (and Should They Be Unstuck?), Part 1: Powerless on Krypton
Tumblr media
This post is also on my independent blog, Small Screen Superman - go there for an even better experience!
A lot of things about Superman and his world change over the years and across media, but some things rarely if ever change, even if they weren’t that way from the beginning. That’s to be expected, especially with things from very early on, such as Superman’s powers.
While it’s nice to have a certain amount of consistency, I actually consider it a positive of the Superman franchise that it has such a wide variety of different interpretations. So sometimes it feels like a bit of a shame if certain ideas end up being used everywhere, especially if I think there’s potential to the way things were before that idea was created.
In this series, I’m going to discuss aspects of Superman canon that have been implemented widely since their introduction and potential advantages of not sticking to them all the time. First up:
Kryptonians have no powers in their native environment
This is a very old idea, likely the oldest idea I will discuss in this series – you have to go back to the Golden Age to escape it. It has a clear purpose: make it easy to make sure almost all Kryptonians died when Krypton exploded. Superman wasn’t nearly as strong or invincible when he was first created, so it used to be easy to believe that all his people would’ve been wiped out by their whole planet exploding, but as his powers grew more and more through the years, this idea became “necessary”.
Of course, I put “necessary” in quotes because it’s not like this idea is absolutely necessary. I certainly don’t blame them for going with this all those decades ago – it’s a simple and easy solution. It also has the advantage of making Krypton simpler and easier to write and conceptualize for in general. A world full of extremely superpowered people sounds pretty crazy. Could random citizens destroy the planet or conquer other planets if they wanted to?
So it makes sense this idea has survived so long and been implemented into almost every Superman continuity. In and of itself, though, I’d say there’s nothing really logical or interesting about it. It’s pretty unbelievable that a species would evolve to be able to do such amazing, incredible things that they’d never be able to do in their native environment. OK, a lot of things in Superman are unbelievable, but usually in a way that makes stories more interesting. This idea, if anything, does the opposite. A world of supermen sounds like it could be very interesting to me.
I don’t think you’d have to worry too much about random Kryptonian citizens causing destruction as long as you established that the technology of Kryptonian society could prevent this. For example, you could have important objects and structures be invincible themselves, and make there be a forcefield around the planet that can only be passed under special circumstances.
Of course, you do need to solve the central problem of why almost all Kryptonians were killed by their planet exploding, but there are other possible solutions. For example, you could make Kryptonians have powers in a red sun, but be less powerful than they are in a yellow sun. The powers of Kryptonians under a red sun could be at the level of early Golden Age Superman, or even early Post-Crisis Superman. This solution would also be rather logical: the idea that Kryptonians would evolve to be able to absorb yellow sunlight (which they would never normally be exposed to) and get powers from it is strange, but the idea that they evolved to be able to absorb red sunlight and get powers from it, and they could get even more powers from a young and vibrant yellow sun, makes more sense.
Tumblr media
Another idea I’ve had is that maybe instead of pieces of Krypton becoming radioactive after its destruction to become Kryptonite, this could happen before and be a part of the destruction process, poisoning all the inhabitants of Krypton.
Should it unstick?
Overall, it’s not surprising this idea has stuck around, but it’s an idea that I think mostly exists for convenience or simplicity as opposed to because it adds interesting storytelling possibilities. And I personally see a great appeal to Kryptonians being inherently super, and the simplicity and logic of this idea. But ironically, reintroducing this idea might be confusing to people since it hasn’t been seen for a very long time. And I admit that it simply can’t be as simple as it could be back in the early Golden Age since you still need some explanation for why there are so few survivors of Krypton’s destruction.
However, for me personally, it would be so cool to see a version of Kryptonian society where everyone has Superman’s powers. Very little time and attention was spent on Krypton in the early Golden Age, so we never got the chance to explore a planet of supermen in detail.
Other than potentially being confusing due to it not being the case for such a long time, the only other major disadvantage I can think of is Superman losing his weakness to red sunlight, and I already explained how this could be kept. Admittedly, this adds another thing that needs to be explained and thus more potential for confusion. Personally, I wouldn’t consider it a deal breaker if they eliminated Clark’s weakness to red sunlight altogether, but it would be at least a little limiting to storytelling.
All this being said, I admit that I’m pretty unique for even caring about this at all, and even I will concede it’s not exactly a big deal. But I feel like a Krypton with powered inhabitants at least deserves a try in some form of media.
Will it unstick?
All things considered, Kryptonians will probably always be unpowered on Krypton in mainstream comic canon, and the same can probably be said for live action films and other high profile media. But spinoff media is more flexible, so I can see the idea of powered Kryptonians on Krypton being explored there. In the My Adventures with Superman show (which has already made some big changes from Superman tradition), there is a scene where Clark is shown a hologram of Krypton and it features a yellow sun turning red (seemingly because of something artificial). If this means what I think it means, Krypton used to have a yellow sun until it was artificially and recently turned red, and therefore Kryptonians had powers on their native world until recently. But we probably won’t know any details until Season 2 comes out.
youtube
Another possibility is that it might be used by non-DC entities when Superman enters the public domain, particularly because when this happens, people will be drawing on the earliest Superman media. I’m unsure if simple concepts such as Kryptonians not having powers on Krypton are able to be copyrighted, but if they are, non-DC entities won’t legally be able to use it, and thus will have no choice but to bring back how things originally were.
Conclusion
I’ll admit that Kryptonians having or not having powers on their home planet is pretty insignificant in the grand scheme of things, even by Superman lore standards. After all, the planet gets destroyed when our hero is a baby. But I’m the kind of person who enjoys when aliens are significantly different from humans biologically, and with Kryptonians being so human-like in most ways, it seems a shame they don’t even get their superpowers (their only major difference from us) while on their home planet. We’ll just have to see if My Adventures of Superman, or any other Superman spinoff, decides to play with this idea.

I imagine they all like documentaries.
Clark likes learning new things and is very much a nerd.
I’ll bet Jimmy grew up on those crazy history channel documentaries that somehow tie everything back to space aliens. On days when he’s sick, he lays on the couch with a blanket and pillows and marathons them while Clark makes him Ma Kent’s chicken noodle soup recipe.
Lois only watches the most well made and award winning documentaries. Anything less and she’ll pause the video and rant about how the interviewer is clearly asking leading questions, or how the explanation by experts are obviously edited in a way that promotes the filmmaker’s bias over the truth.
when they have movie nights together, documentaries are the one type of film they can all agree on, but they don’t do much agreeing after they press play. Jimmy and Lois argue while Clark keeps trying to interject, “would anyone like popcorn?”

what I find pretty interesting about this set up is that it’s a mystery that both the audience and the characters within the show are trying to solve.
Yeah, WE know that the planet exploded but there’s been so many variations of HOW it happened. Sometimes there’s a natural disaster, or Brainiac is responsible, or the Kryptonian people did something that led to the planet’s destruction and those little details shape what kind of enemies or allies Clark meets in the future.
also it was pointed out to me that the reason why the multiverse was introduced into the show so soon was so that the writers could be freed from the expectations of having to include EVERYTHING in the Superman mythos and only focus on adapting what they want to adapt. (For example, if fans started clamouring for an episode where Superman meets another superhero because he HAS to in all his incarnations, they can easily say, “oh that’s happening in another universe. It’s canon, it’s valid, it’s going on over there, we’re just not focusing on it here.”) so in a way the show has an easy way out to pick and choose what will be adapted.
So here we are, trying to put together the mystery of what happened to Krypton with the clues given to us and so are the characters in the show except they don’t have the knowledge of Superman mythos that we do, so we’re watching them put the pieces together in a way that’s logical from their point of view, but totally off the mark from what we know.
I just realized something about My Adventures with Superman.
This is the first (I say first because I have no idea if it will still be the only by the time Gunn's version comes around) iteration of a Superman story that breaks one of the few major behind-the-scenes writing rules about introducing a new Superman story:
It doesn't start the show with either Krypton exploding or the Spaceship crashing.
All other reintroductions to a "new" or "different" version of Superman in the comics, the movies, or the TV shows, all start the story with either one of the two things. So much that you can argue it's as much as a trope as audiences seeing Uncle Ben die everytime Spiderman get revamped, or every Batman movie having to show us the damned blood-covered pearls in Crime Alley.
Just 8 simple words that explain it all
"Doomed Planet. Desperate Scientists. Last Hope. Kindly Couple."
So much so that comics even lampshade it when introducing evil Superman parallels like Ultraman.
Tumblr media
"Doomed Planet. Desperate Scientists. Last Hope. Duplicitous Bastards."
But My Adventures with Superman very noticeably don't do that, and that's very much by design because this version of Clark is meant to know nothing and so the showrunners and writers made it so that the audience is in the dark as much as Clark is.
And it works to a wonderful degree because this means the audience spends all of Episode 1 getting to know Clark Kent: Junior Reporter first. We learn the overgrown corn-fed dork who can fly and break sinks before we get a syllable of Kryptonese. We learn about Krypton's fate in Episode 2 as Clark learns about it, but this decision also goes on to do something spectacular.
It also goes to prime the audience that this story of Krypton is going to be different from the version of Krypton and Jor-El and Lara-Lor-Van most people know, and that becomes more and more prominent as the show goes on.
And the Krypton we see hints of is fucking scary!
Tumblr media
The show is going wholesale in subconsciously putting us in Clark's shoes because it plays with our familiarity and curiosity of what Krypton is like until we get to Episode 8: Zero Day and we see what the visions and codenames of Nemesis Omega and Zero Day mean. And it invokes the feeling of more dread and terror than hope of seeing any more Kryptonians, and that's without introducing us to the known Evil Kryptonians in the lore. (Zod, Ursa, Faora, Jax-Ur, etc.)
Starting with us not seeing Krypton exploding or the rocket ship that Moses'd him to Earth also later leaves the ambiguity of whether Clark truly has the title of Last Son of Krypton in the last episode climax and end-credit scene. It throws a lot of what we expect into flux while still staying true to the roots of the character at the same time, because it never confirms or denies anything. We're just left to speculate and flounder as Clark is.
That's just a wonderful example of how a story choice can have such a knock-on snowball effect that can pay off in establishing an atmosphere.
And it's all because they refrained from using a proven tried-and-true intro rule to do something new, like they do for a lot of the series.
And I just think that's neat.

Sudan is going through a famine, and with Ramadan coming up (this year it'll start March 10th), it would be nice to donate so that families can have food and medicine.
With the exchange rates for many of us, even a small donation could help in a big way, you don't need to donate the full $30.
