but they just couldn't- they weren't ALLOWED to have just ONE thing for themselves???

all they wanted was Enver Gortash, just for a little while, just for a moment. They had to beg their father for just a short time with him, where they could rule by his side, before destroying him and then themselves...

but they didn't get to have it!

let's say the dark urge died because they realized they could not go through with the plan, they could not kill enver gortash.

let's further say, that they allowed orin to get the drop on them, because they knew gortash could handle her, the way he could never handle them.

let's say that they sacrificed themselves for gortash to live.

isn't it positively WICKED that in the end, it mattered not?

they couldn't save enver gortash from themselves.

he would die by their hands regardless. directly in one case, and indirectly, through the netherbrain they raised together, destroyed by their own plan.

they died for him, but it wasn't enough to save him.

they were his biggest threat, his greatest partner and ironically his greatest weakness, so they quietly took themselves out, but it wasn't enough.

they gave him their life, but still took his in the end.

I was playing around with the free cam mod and Gortash's coat is so worn down??? like????

He bought this, what, years ago and never properly took care of it? It has scratch marks all over it, likely from brawls or heists, and it's barely as fancy as all the gold on the lapel would want us to believe it is?

Man spent everything he had on that coat and then never figured out how to maintain it

So I'm eating my dinner and while I'm doing that I'm wandering around in Baldur's Gate, trying to find waypoints, then I stopped when I met a Steel Watcher. I decided to take a closer look at the design.

What if Gortash hugged Durge when they showed up at the coronation, though. To drive a wedge between them and the party before he even opens his mouth? To hopefully pull them closer to his side immediately with a show of just how worried he was about them? Out of genuine affection and delight at seeing them alive and more or less well? Who knows! Maybe not even him!

I like to think that sceleritas referred to Gortash exclusively as "the Master's Banite whore" even to his face

Forever thinking about how Gortash tells Durge “welcome back to Baldur’s Gate — welcome home” while Durge is just ,, standing in the middle of a hallway in a fort outside the city. Like not only is Durge not even in the actual city yet, they’re also not in a house or residence of of any kind. And yes sure the city’s close enough, I guess, but still it’s “welcome home”?? Emphasis his?

What did you mean by that, Enver? Is Durge’s home wherever they’re with you or something??

You might be delusional, but so am I, because I also wanted to scream when he said that. Because listen, the map doesn't lie, you're not in the region of Baldur's Gate, you're in a whole different map, of Rivington and the outside of Baldur's Gate. Wyrm's Rock might be in Baldur's Gate technically, but it's more like a weird segway point to Baldur's Gate.

So.

because I am insane... I choose to gnaw on the words "Welcome Home."

are you my home, enver???? are you the only true home i've ever had, more than the streets of baldur's gate, than the rotten and dilapidated temple of bhaal below, choked with its rivers of ichor, than the briny sea breeze or the grime of the lower city we both used to roam?

What if right before durge meets Gortash in act 3, Sceleritas appears trying to convince them not to go. Sceleritas would know he was a large part of the reason durge strayed from Bhaal. Like i can see Sceleritas telling durge to send a lackey (their friends) in their place. When durge presses him for a reason why he literally is not allowed to explain anything. The most he says is “he’s trouble, master” which obviously makes Durge want to meet him more
