flumpool

Hello! How are you? These days, I just think about that I don’t want to leave here :(  Anyway, I’m going to write about another band, flumpool.

 At first, I can explain the meaning of their band name. It has four members so that their first letter is “f.” “Lump” usually means a big block. As you know, “pool” is the area of water. Then they created a new word. Their attraction is not only music but also talking. Because all members are from west part of Japan(Kansai), their talking is really funny. I always enjoy hearing it.  

The reaon why I want to introduce you this band is that they are also popular in Taiwan! I’m sure some of our classmates are from Taiwan. Actually, they will perform in Taiwan this October. If you have interests, you should go. They have performed several times in Taiwan. Also, they collaborated with a famous Taiwanese singer, Mayday.

This is the video of the collaboration. Usually, he sings songs in Japanese but when he performs in Taiwan, he tries to sing in Chinese.  He studied Chinese a little in his university and kept studying it after he graduated from there.  

The vocalist Ryuta usually writes lyrics and the guitarist Kazuki writes music. Thier songs are not so rock, it’s really pop and catchy. That’s why I think it’s easy to listen for everyone. 

This is one of the most famous song of them. Actually, I have a plan to go their concert in November. I can’t wait!!!!!!!!!! I hope you like them.

UVERworld

Hello! Today, I’m going to introduce the other Japanese cool rock band, UVERworld.

They are a group of six. They started their performing in 2000. “UVER” is a coined word after German word “uber” and “over.” “uber” means “get over” in German. At first, it has 5 members, but in 2014, new member joined as a sax part. 

The vocalist, TAKUYA∞ writes most of their songs. The part of his name “∞” means infinity, so he tries to say that his possibility is infinity.

Interestingly, they usually call their fans “crew.” This is because they think they are on the same ship with their fans. Therefore, “crew” can feel familiarity with UVERworld very much. 

Their live concerts are emthusiastic!  “Crew” are attracted by TAKUYA∞’s message. He always talks about his dream with passion. I think that's why they are loved by lots of teenagers.

They don’t like to perform in TV. So they are not so popular in Japan. But, especially among young people who like to go music festival, they are enormously famous. This is worth to try.

RADWIMPS

Today, I’m going to write about a quite young band, RADWIMPS.

It includes four members, a vocalist, a guitalist, a bassist and a drumer. RADWIMPS are named after American English slang. “rad” means cool or excellent, “wimp” means a weak and cowardly person. Accordingly, RADWIMPS is the group of COOL WEAK MEN!

In 2001, the guitarist, Mr Kuwahara asked Mr Noda to be the vocalist. Then, they created RADWIMPS. 

The Vocalist, Yojiro Noda used to live in US in his age of 6 to 10. Therefore, he uses so many kinds of English slang or natural phrases in his songs. It is so interesting for me. This is the song that he uses English mostly.

Last year,  they supervised all music of the movie which is called “your name.” Then, they won outstanding achievement in sound recording of 40th Japan Academy Prize. Although, “your name” is Japanese animation movie, you can watch it in English. Honestly, I’ve never watched it yet... so I also have to watch!

This is the main song of the movie. It is too famous!!

They have so many kinds of songs so that I can enjoy their music.

L’Arc~en~Ciel

Hi, eveyone!

Today, I would like to introduce you one of the biggest rock bands in the world, L‘Arc~en~Ciel!!!!!!!  L’Arc~en~Ciel means RAINBOW in French.

The leader of this rock band, tetsuya founded L’Arc~en~Ciel in 1991. At first, they were performing around Osaka, but they made a major debut in Tokyo in1994. 

Can you believe they are almost 50 years old!!! I think they look so young and cool! All of members can write songs so that they have variety of songs.

The reason why I recommend you L’Arc~en~Ciel is that they are famous around the world. They have performed in Paris, Shanghai, Taipei, Souel, Hong Kong, Bankok, New York, London, Singapore, Honolulu and Jakarta. It’s amazing! There are so many people who can’t speak Japanese but CAN sing their songs!

How wonderful it is! They sing their song together beyond the differnce of races and religions.

Also, they are the first Japanese bands who performed at Madison Square Garden(MSG). MSG is the most famous place to do concert in New York.

I’m proud of that Japan has such a great band!

By the way, the vocalist, hyde has another rock band which is called VAMPS. It is also cool. Baisically they perform overseas, so their songs are usually written in English.

BUMP OF CHICKEN

Hello everyone, how are you doing!

Today I'm going to write about one of Japanese rock band, BUMP OF CHICKEN.

They started to play in February 11th,1996. So this year is 20th anniversary year for them.

BUMP OF CHICKEN has 

Vocal/Guitar: Motoo Fujiwara

Guitar : Hiroaki Masukawa

Bass: Yoshifumi Naoi

Drums: Hideo  Masu

Almost of all their songs are written by Mr. Fujiwara, the vocalist. He also draw the artworks for their albums and goods of concerts. They are friends from their childhood. Thier music are kinds of pop or rock. They are loved by many people incluing people in same field. For example, Kazutoshi Sakurai from Mr. Children said “I want to be a member of BUMP OF CHICKEN.”

They have rarely shown in media, they had not been in broadcast TV show by 2014.  I was really excited to see them on TV at that time. They performed “ray” in the TV show. It is on of my favorite songs.
