Vandalism of The Heart
Scratch
a tragic love ballad on a wall,
Somewhere unknown and small.
Dust and mistrust
Falls
From overhead bricks,
So carve my name into each broken surface.
Make me wish I had it all.
Silvered shine
And poetic rhymes
Of how each word I’ve spoken is a tool
To make you believe
In love and signs.
Make me wish I had it all.
I’ll never find those decaying walls.

Night
I have so much freedom
Except at night.
My hands are always tied at night.
My mind is always running away
From something
At night,
My heart always breaks
That little bit more
At night,
My eyes dart around
At night
Searching for something.
A sign maybe?
Im held within these bland walls
That force the moon under lock and key
Outside of my complicated
Window frames.
My thoughts are always bound
At night
To circles upon circles
Of meaningless thoughts
Which is why I never sleep
At night.

“Curiously Serene
And
Shrouded in moonlight,
She provides
That soft
Cosmic love
That burns alight
And leaves each of us
In a trail of dust.”

Walk In The Park
I walk past
Womanly frames
Cut out of cold metal,
Masked hardened flames
And behind lies
a flickering
Image of potential.
It’s like looking through a
Keyhole
Having a realization that is essential.
Seeing life pass by,
Familiar and hesitant
Yet misshapen and existential;
That life is moving too fast
On the other side of these silver sheets.
A door that can be so easily opened
If you hadn’t lost the key.

All I keep thinking is
“It must be gorgeous to be inside his mind. All chaos and beauty and fire burning inside.”

“I am doing okay”
Everything feels good
Again,
Everything feels calm.
I haven’t felt that in a long time.
It’s a unfamiliar and uninterrupted
And unforgiving
Feeling.
But,
Everything feels fine
Again,
At least I think I know what ‘fine’ means.
Just going with the flow.
Just learning how to cope.
Just putting on this show.
Just trying not to feel
Broken
Inside.
But I swear that
Everything is normal again
And that I am doing okay.
Some days I listen to myself and I think
It’s sad that your sadness is your identity,
I then question myself naturally.
What does it all mean?
What does it mean to feel clean?
How can I stop myself from wanting to scream?
Too many thoughts.
Too many opinions.
Put it all on mute.

Hello, Hello friends!
Not so long time no see, eh? ✨
I’ve got so much to fill you in on!
Just here to let you know that I’m writing a poem a day... yes you read that correctly. I am writing a whole poem every single day for the month of October. It’s happening on my Instagram at the moment (@graciepoetry_) so if you want to join, please do! ✨ I am going to be posting some of my favourites from the month on this blog as well so I’m super excited about all of it! ✨
I updated the desktop version of my blog as well just in time. It’s looking pretty snazzy, right? Now all my work is in one place to find!
I also finished up an article with @adolescentcontent magazine on sustainability and ethical fashion that is currently live on their website! You know me, any chance I get to talk about sustainable fashion, I will 😝✨
How are you doing? Is it sunny where you are? How’s life treating you? I’m responding to all my inbox messages today so I can’t wait to catch up! ✨
Mhari xoxo

Blood Red Letters
I am over the background
Noise of shuffling shoes
And their spiked remarks.
To surround myself with these cascades
And flippant tongues
Is self-sabotage.
These square-cut beliefs
Of happiness are pinned up on walls
And are seething.
They leak poison.
They cover hearts.

Between You and I
There are always moments
That are meant to be fulfilled.
Crisp-to-touch air
In a broken down car
Or rather
The space before you say goodbye;
The comfort that it could one day invite.
These moments are the precious ones,
So subtle yet so overt.
I push against them often.

An Ocean of Strangers
I am in love with the ocean
In the same way that
I am in love with strangers.
A constant sea of people passing by
Reminds me that nothing is ever
The same,
And life is always moving
Forward.
Memories come back to me in waves
And almost drown me with the
weight they hold
But I am always kept afloat by the
Commuters and the office workers,
And the teachers
And the revolutionaries
That flood this town
With light.
