how do y’all pick one song that sounds like love??? i feel like there’s just so many. maybe it’s because my relationship spans 20 years, so i have these touchstones over two decades of songs that have always sounded like love.

numerous tracks over all the mixtapes and playlists we’ve made each other over the years. every song you suggest to me because you heard it that one time, and it made you think of me, so you saved it to tell me about it at home, to see how i liked it.

or even tracks that may not sound like love to everyone else, but i know the way we’ve laid together listening to karma police and that sounds like love to me. the songs of every concert we’ve gone to, screaming the words side by side or separated by the pit but still together? those sound like love.

been thinking a lot about anticipatory grief lately. i love you so much that i know losing you will devastate me. i haven't lost you yet but i already miss you. we still have time, but it won't be enough. i think about what i would say at your funeral, and say some of it to you now cause i need you to know how loved you are before you go. you will go where i cannot follow, but you will never really leave me. it won't make it hurt less but it is a part of healing somehow.
