Just completed three chapters of a months-long idea (I already have all the ideas down in one doc).

I only succeeded in doing this by telling myself "This is for me. It doesn't need to be beautiful. No fancy writing, just the facts." So I ditched "show don't tell," I ditched "said is dead," and I ditched "kill your darlings." If I can't think of the best wording or way to say something, I just say it like it is: "The neighborhood got dangerous, so they left."

Also, I asked questions the whole time:

"They went to the mountain. It took three days." But what did they eat? "He hunted until food became scarce." And then what? "They started arguing about where to look for food, and because they were hungry the argument got bitter." So what did they do? "The dominant character ordered the other to do as he said, and the argument ended." How did that make the other character feel? "He complained the whole way, of course, and here's what he said..."

And that's how I finished three chapters! I went back in later and added details by asking more questions.

I'm already taken

"Damn it, Deku, STOP IT!" Katsuki throws a pillow at the greatest (and dumbest) love of his life. Danger Sense doesn't trigger with Katsuki, so he makes sure to throw something soft anytime he's frustrated at his boyfriend.

It all started this afternoon when Round Face sent a screenshot of a fan account to Deku. It's a Hero Dynamight thirst account. The account is just posting and reposting photos and videos of people "thirsting" after Katsuki. It cannot be helped because Katsuki's famous. He saves Japan every freaking day. Magazines sell better when his face is on it.

He doesn't mind all that, but it becomes bad when the whole world thinks he's single.

Katsuki himself ignores all of the attention he gets from that because for him, none of them matter, a fact that he keeps repeating to Deku over and over. And it's not like Deku doesn't have his own thirsty fanbase, either. But Katsuki can handle his own jealousy and possessiveness better--TO EVERYBODY'S SURPRISE.

But Deku, oh Deku just won't let it go. Like an obsessed, jealous boyfriend, he won't stop looking at the Dynamight thirst account as if it's Katsuki's ex.

He doesn't have one, by the way. Deku is his first love. He probably will be Katsuki's last too, because Deku will be the death of him if he keeps being a dumbass. 

Deku's phone is already slightly dented on the side, at the unconscious pressure from Deku's hands. What, is that 1% OFA? It tends to seep out unconsciously when he's raging.

Katsuki sighs. He doesn't use this move too often for fear of losing its effect. But this situation is an exception.

"Izuku, babe."

At that, Deku stops scrolling and looks up from his phone. "Huh?"

How can Deku not get it? Does he not understand that he makes Katsuki want to achieve everything every time his green eyes stare at him? Without waiting, Katsuki leans over and captures Izuku's lips. He takes Deku's phone in his hand and slides it in his own back pocket. 

He kisses Deku until he's breathless because there's no one else he'd willingly lose his breath for and Deku needs to understand this. There's no one else for Katsuki, except Midoriya Izuku. 

"We're going to watch the next episode of Brooklyn 99, laugh at what Jake Peralta is up to and then you're going to ignore all of those extras online, OK?"

"But..." 

Katsuki kisses him again, that will shut him up. 

Deku gives in.

They watch as Jake Peralta realizes that he's apparently still not over Amy Santiago. Deku falls asleep on Katsuki's shoulder, his phone completely forgotten.

Too bad their agency is against revealing their relationship to the public. Katsuki takes his own phone & opens the camera. Yep, too bad for their agency's publicists indeed because Bakugou Katsuki doesn't give a flying fuck.

He poses, snaps a photo & uploads it to his official account.

Before he can lock his phone, he can already see the RT and likes climbing fast.

Yep. He'll face the storm from their PR agents tomorrow. 

What are they gonna do? They can't afford to lose the #1 and #2 heroes.

In Katsuki's post, he uploaded a photo of him kissing a sleeping Deku on his forehead. The caption on it says, "Sorry not sorry extras, I'm already taken."

But yes I 100% agree.

Maybe it's my delusion, but I can't imagine Izuku would continue to admire Kacchan solely based on their friendship as kids. At least, not nearly to the extent he does.

I've said it before, I don't mean to downplay Izuku's experience in middle school. Even if the way I'm picturing those years, which is probably lighter than it may have been (if a bit confusing for both of them), then I still wouldn't blame him for hating Kacchan.

But he doesn't.

And that is a VERY important distinction to make.

Izuku doesn't admire Kacchan in spite of who he is and what he's done, Izuku admires him because he understands him; And Katsuki does in turn, even if he wasn't ready to admit that.

Katsuki's redemption is so amazing through the manga because we mostly get to watch the development behind Izuku's eyes, it's very compelling. There's just so much trust that Izuku puts into Kacchan's hands, even from the very beginning, and he's so fearless to openly admit "Kacchan's amazing!" so frequently. I don't think he would've been able to do that, unless he had gray moments like these (in the picture above) to reassure himself that their connection wasn't permanently lost... It just needed time.

So yes, I do think a scene EXACTLY LIKE THIS is very possible. Their relationship is super complex, it's more fun like that!

I love Bakugou with all my heart and I DO WANT HIM ALIVE-

But his story is over.

(implied spoilers for nonmanga readers, but I also don't remember where the anime left off soooo)

Bakugou has changed. He's grown a lot through this series and has become a fantastic character with a wonderful redemption arc but, narratively, there's nothing left.

The only way he can impact the story, reestablish his the importance he brings to it, and change it; He has to die and stay dead.

But maybe haha maybe don't do that bc I'll be sad and I want him to be loved and to be happy and TO BE A PRO HERO LIKE HED DREAMED OF SINCE HE WAS A KID

Izuku sat rigid, careful to keep his posture still and his breathing even.

He was

A silent statue.

A big heavy rock in storming waters.

A marble pillar-

"You're too fuckin' stiff."

Izuku relaxed, mumbling a quiet "Sorry, Kacchan." before the blonde muttered another curse and pressed closer.

Kacchan must be feeling pretty awful to use Izuku as a pillow while they waited for the next train.

He'd known there was something wrong the moment Izuku arrived to class and noticed Kacchan wasn't already in his seat. The feeling of 'knowing' persisted, as Kacchan's irritation spiked and his natural fireworks burst too easy behind a wirey sneer and narrowed eyes.

Izuku sighed, bravely glancing at Kacchan's flushed face, looking every bit as warm as the body pressed firm against his side, and he quickly returned to gazing back at the tracks. "You shouldn't have come on the trip if you were sick..."

His classmates and Teacher hadn't picked up on the not-so-subtle hints Kacchan's failing health kept dropping, until a few hours after they'd arrived at the museum. Kacchan was only human, after all, and his fever and temper finally caught up to him.

Izuku was instructed to take Bakugou home, as they lived close by each other, and he knew better than to try passing the blonde off onto another classmate.

Kacchan grunted, but it was unclear if the noise had come from a pain or if he was trying to make a snide remark instead of answering-- both of which concerned him greatly.

They must have expected Kacchan to get angry with him. Izuku had, briefly.

"You're a real pain, y'know that?" Kacchan griped- not whined- as he caught himself on the bench.

Izuku bit back a huff. It wasn't his fault that Kacchan was sick, but he was getting blamed for it anyway.

"Yes, Kacchan."

"Stop looking down on me, park it on the damn bench or lose your legs."

Izuku fell heavily next to him and automatically replied, "Okay, Kacchan."

"And lend me your shoulder," Kacchan hissed, "Touch me and die. Don't make it weird."

Izuku nodded, "Yes, sorry Ka-"

Kacchan curled into Izuku's space immeaditly and dropped his head against Izuku's shoulder, Kacchan's words finally registering as he screamed.

"-aaAAAACHAN-!"

"I said don't be weird!"

It was strange to see someone who projected an air of confidence and strength, untouchable, be reduced to shallow breaths and a whistling nose.

He was glad they were alone.

When it was just the two of them, Kacchan was... Different.

Not nicer by any means, but without an audience Kacchan was less likely to create a show or take offense to Izuku's sole gaze. The displays of raw and impressive power dimmed to a quiet warm glow for them to enjoy together. Softer and quiet but no less amazing.

Irate and fierce Bakugou Katsuki became subdued and passive Kacchan.

Or maybe he only pretended to see a difference.

As soon as the blonde was able to walk on his own two feet without fear of collapsing, he was probably going to politely thank Izuku for his unneeded service with a punch to the gut.

Izuku's stomach rolled, anticipating the strike, but it settled when looking down at Kacchan's serene sleeping face didn't cause the blonde to jump from his comfortable position to rip his throat out.

The less people between and in front of them, the better; And seeing as how Kacchan wasn't firing on all cylinders, he didn't count either. The distance Kacchan had put up in their youth was gone, no longer dictating how close Izuku was allowed to be.

Right now, the only person between him and Kacchan was Izuku.

It's a startling thought, but he found it quite calming.

It had been quite some time since he'd been the one to hold the reigns in their relationship, aside from his daily stubborn decision to never stray too far away. It was assuring to know that this was still an option. That Izuku was still okay with this and with them.

Kacchan may have demanded the shoulder attached to Izuku's presence, but Izuku would've offered it even without the excuse of sickness.

Because he cared for Kacchan and always would. His admiration was inevitable as it was steady. If Kacchan never looked back, he was content to continue watching from afar.

Always waiting for the other with an open heart and safe place to be just Kacchan.

Mha fic idea #34

Alright, another fic idea but this time.... Bkdk angst. 🧡💚

Amnesia Quirk!With a Twist!

You've been warned.

At the height of their prohero careers, Izuku is hit with an amnesia quirk. Only, he seems to have lost just the memories connected to his husband Bakugou Katsuki. It might be a bit awkward, but can still work and live his life for the month it'll take for the memories to come back.

And they do.

His first memory, it comes back the same day he'd been hit.

Their first date. An amusement park with crepes and smiles and holding hands-

And as the days pass, more and more memories replace the blank space in his mind. Of all of the good times they've had together. Memories of their wedding, their anniversaries, birthdays, fun times, winning a good battle, childhood memories that mysteriously cut off...

An apology.

It lacks context, but these memories make his heart sing. Izuku couldn't stop himself from forming a crush on the blonde even if he tried. These feelings are even further reinforced by the frequently retrieved memories. He spouts praises in a way that feels familiar and his heart blossoms with delight over how perfect they are together.

Izuku's constantly showing his affection and appreciation, but as the month continues Bakugou starts to act strangely. Bakugou is careful to disengage from the warm hugs and flirty smiles, reminding Izuku that "things weren't always like this" and shying away from Izuku's approval that "He's not perfect, he's made mistakes."

This does not deter Izuku. He's head over heels for this man and every new memory he just sinks even deeper...

That is.

Until the good memories run out.

There's a little less than a week to go when one arrives. It's not too bad, maybe a bit confusing, but Izuku doesnt mind it.

But they keep coming. Pieces to some of the other memories that leave some of them a bit more bittersweet. Memories where Kacchan's harshness was less funny, more frustrating. And then scary.

Izuku is shattered. Their romance had seemed so wonderful and easy, almost like a dream, and he's losing it with every new memory gained. They feel tainted, nothing about them seems real; Like there's some kind of caveat to every whispered promise.

He's frustrated with himself, confused and upset and not understanding why these memories were hidden from him to save so much heartache til the end and it just keeps getting worse.

Kacchan had warned him, but he couldn't have known it would hurt so much.

There aren't any good memories left. Nothing to soothe this ache- the betrayl- and he can't help looking at their relationship differently the closer they get to the worst of their fights and arguments. Things that even Katsuki knows he can't explain...

Sidenote here:

I've noticed in amnesia!quirk fics that when it comes to the angsty memories between bkdk, like their middle school experience, there are usually still some good memories to soothe the amnesiac to remember and return to their partner.

This is probably since most of the memories are returned

A. Chronologically

B. Randomly, as plot dictates

C. All at once

These types of fics are great, don't get me wrong! I eat it up. Amnesia fics are great for angst fodder.

I'd just love to see if anyone else had this thought of the memories coming back based on progression of Good ones to Bad ones (to Worse ones). I like that there is no redemption from the quirk. It rearranges the perception of the person it affects in such an awful way.

Bkdk would seriously have their work cut out for them at the end of the month.

Fic Idea: 1

Okay. Imagine a bkdk soulmates au where both Izuku and Katsuki are quirkless and know they're soulmates. Quirklessness is significantly more rare than in canon like .05% of the population or something (I really feel like they didn't do the math on exactly how common something that's 20% of the population is lmfao like in a school or 600 kids that's like 120 people. It's literally 1 in 5. Like if there are 5 people in a room odds are 1 of them is quirkless. It's so fucking dumb. Just not rare at all. In your average grocery store there's gonna be 20 quirkless person in there with everyone else. Like my city has less that 2% black people and 6% hispanic and I still see these people all the time! Every time I go out! TWENTY FUCKING PERCENT IS AN INSANELY HIGH PROPORTION. Like 20% of women have been sexually assaulted and no one pretends like THAT'S rare!? Ugh. Dumb. Anyway. I digress.) Mitsuki is pissed/disappointed/resentful that Katsuki is quirkless AND that his soulmate is quirkless. So she like throws herself into finding a way to make someone NOT quirkless. Masaru really doesn't agree so Mitsuki just takes Katsuki and leaves to continue her insane search for a witch doctor.

The LOV functions a little differently than in canon, namely that the Dr is willing to be paid to experiment on people who contact him so he can better his ability to produce nomu/soldiers for AFO. Anyway Mitsuki finds him and pays him obscene amounts of money to experiment on Katsuki to get him a quirk. After numerous surgeries, drug therapies, and lots of fuckery, he finally gets Explosion when he's like 7. He basically grows up in this facility. Sometimes being taken there for just one procedure, sometimes being dropped off for a few days.

Obviously his body isn't built for Explosion so he ends up rupturing his eardrums and having to get implants to hear. His bones aren't built to withstand the recoil, his soft tissue isn't either. So he ends up with all sorts of metal mesh and crap wrapped around his bones and shit to hold them together when they inevitably fracture due to the strain. He gets nose bleeds and migraines when he uses his quirk for too long or goes too hard. And he's got early onset arthritis from all the damage that's been done testing/training the Explosion and from the surgeries. Literally looks like he's been used to teach how to do disections. Not to mention that all the drugs and shit they used to help his body acclimate to the quirk have messed up his stomach and intestines so he's gotta eat a pretty bland diet otherwise his body struggles with it.

Just has severe chronic pain but he just deals because he's literally never known anything else and also he's never been taught how to do anything other than schoolwork and fighting. He has no hobbies. No interests except medical knowledge because he wants to understand what they're doing to him and he can't do shit with that because his hands are all fucked up. Writing is hard enough, imagine having to try and give someone an injection or literally anything else.

So cut forward several years. Izuku gets OFA and they both get into UA. Katsuki's first reaction is "that fucker LIED to me!" Which fades pretty quickly cause they were like 4-5. If Izuku really did lie to him then it was probably just a little kid trying to make his friend and soulmate feel better. Not some malicious gag. So he doesn't say anything. Izuku is overjoyed to see Kacchan and that Kacchan has a quirk. They both talk to each other about their quirks a little before class and Izuku is just extremely awkward about it.

Then the fitness tests happen and Izuku breaks his fucking finger using his quirk and Katsuki's like "OMG INKO DID THIS SHIT TO YOU TOO" and he's pissed. Just so unbelievably pissed. Angry beyond belief that someone would do that to Izuku. The kindest human on the planet (from what he remembered) and his soulmate. But he doesn't do anything right then. He hardly knows Izuku anymore and he can't prove shit.

So they get closer as they go through the first semester of UA and Katsuki just straight up refuses to meet Izuku at Izuku's house because he doesn't want to see Inko. They always meet at a cafe, or a park, or something. Katsuki also starts helping Izuku practice his quirk because the dumbass clearly has 0 control over it and that's just gotta change.

Eventually Izuku gets Katsuki to come over to his house and Katsuki's just being a complete dick to Inko who is just so confused and a bit hurt/offended? Like wtf Katsuki? And it eventually culminates in Katsuki chewing her out over acting like she cares when she clearly doesn't because she obviously paid to have Izuku tortured just because she couldn't stand for her son to be quirkless. And he also lectures Izuku about "why the fuck are you defending her?! She hurt you!"

And Inko and Izuku are both like... "Katsuki? Is there something you want to tell us?"

And Izuku ends up having to tell Katsuki and Inko about OFA and All Might and they convince Katsuki to tell them about all the shit that happened to him.

Bonus points if Aizawa restricts Katsuki from using his quirk fully during training until he's build up more stamina/endurance because he's ALSO hurting himself since he keeps getting nose bleeds during training. Then when Aizawa insists that Katsuki go get checked out by Recovery Girl and Katsuki blatantly refuses, Aizawa suspends him, gets hella chewed out by Mitsuki, and becomes suspicious that something's going on because Mitsuki just keeps insisting that Katsuki's been cleared by their personal doctor. Nedzu gets involved, they find out about the whole human experimentation thing and Nedzu absolutely goes to town, just so fucking triggered and angry. They raid the facility, get it shut down, get custody of Katsuki, and Recovery Girl starts fixing some of the shit they did to him. Would be adorable if Inko ended up with custody but I have way to many Dadzawa feels for that 😆

What would make Deku/Bakugou become Villains?

On twitter, there was talk about what it would take to make Deku and Bakugou become evil/villains and I’d like to bring my commentary for that here.

I think people often forget hero/villain in BNHA’s world and society does not equate to good vs. bad all the time, and that’s very important when trying to decode the motives of Bakugou and Deku. When you can do that, you can critcially wonder what would bring them to a point to sway away from the paths they’ve been so determined to follow in canon.

The most trivial thing you can do to establish kinship between people in anime-manga.

The highlights (shine) on the hair, characterizing the structure of the hair!

Just compare.

Jiro's family - Kyoka went unambiguously to her mother in terms of her hair structure.

Bakugou’s family - Katsuki inherited his father's hair shape and hair color as a mixture of dad's and mom's hair color.

Asui’s family, all of the children clearly took after their mother.

Midoriya’s family - aside from the objectively different hair color of Inko and Izuku (although we haven't had an official manga dye of Inko yet), their hair structure is obviously different. Inko's hair is smooth and shiny; while Izuku's hair is more matted and shaggy.

Even when compared to the other frizzy character, Shindo Yo, the difference is noticeable - Shindo has completely homogeneous color and hair texture.

However, of the characters we know - a similar hair structure as Izuku's... have brothers! Especially the older brother Afo!

Even in the manga, their hair structure is similar - the only difference is the color and length.
