Talking about Mayday in America as a teenage girl is so funny cause people hear “Taiwanese Band” and they think of like an idol group but then I’m like no, they’re 50 years old.
Las Vegas concert slayed ✨ my beloved Xiao Bing Chih was the opener

I finished lost you forever and really enjoyed it however I hated the whole “it was all a dream” segment in season 2 for many reasons
I think it would be 10x funnier if instead of the whole dream thing, Cang Xuan time traveled. Like he did try to kill Tushan Jing, Xiao Yao found out, poisoned herself and died. CX realized he fricked up and researched ways to time travel or maybe his dead parents sent him back idk. If there can be this hallucinogenic karma tea why can’t there be time travel? So he time travels back, doesn’t order the hit on TSJ and everything plays out like in the drama. It doesn’t sound like it would make much of a difference but having CX actually be responsible for XY’s death and deal with the consequences would make it more impactful. It wouldn’t feel like a waste of two episodes. It also helps explain why CX backs off of XY and TSJ’s relationship. It feels a lot less bittersweet than the novel where XY has to live knowing her brother tried to kill TSJ.
I chose to believe that Cang Xuan is a time traveler

I am now a wowkie da/wowkie zhang/da zhangwei/大张伟 fan
he’s mostly known in the west for singing 眼光彩虹小白马/Sunshine Rainbow White Pony as a meme song cause it sounds like he’s saying a slur so I started listening to it ironically but now I am a genuine wowkie enjoyer
I really like 万物盛开法则 and 我怎么这么好看. But my rn favorite is 只为自己开的花 which translates roughly to flowers that bloom only for myself. It’s a song about struggling but still being positive. The song is for the movie YOLO. It’s surprisingly serious for a wowkie song.
wowkie has had an interesting career. He started out as a teen in a band called “The Flowers” or 花儿乐队. It’s considered China’s first adolescent band and introduced pop punk. I’ve heard a cover of their song 嘻唰唰 on TikTok/Douyin a lot. The flowers had a few controversies but I think the most well known are the plagiarism cases. The same song 嘻唰唰 has a few similarities to Puffy AmiYumi’s (the teen titans singers) - K2G/Kimi Ni Go. Plagiarism isn’t cool but it was like 20 years ago so I don’t think it discredits wowkie.
Besides music I just think his aesthetic is very fun. His album covers are very hyperpop/maximalist core especially for mandopop standards. His fashion is also very unique especially during The Flowers era. His spiky bangs and brightly colored hair streaks are iconic. In the sunshine rainbow white pony video he wears a rainbow dash suit. He is my fashion icon.!
wowkie core is real

TFboy/TFfamily Basics
If you were to ask me who the biggest Chinese boy idol group is, I would say the TFfamily but they’re not just one group. When I first learned about the TFfamily I was pretty confused and googling in English didn’t really help. So I’m gonna try to summarize the knowledge that I have about the TFfamily. If information is wrong please let me know! I’m mainly using wikis and google translate so it’s totally possible there are flaws.
TFboys (1st generation)
If you interact with a lot of Chinese media you have probably already seen a TFboy. In 2023 they held a huge 10 year reunion concert. If they’ve already had a 10 year old career they must be in their late 20s or early 30s, right? But no, they debuted in 2013 when they were 12 to 13 years old. The members are Jackson Yee, Roy Wang and Karry Wang. It’s hard to contextualize how popular these three teenage boys were and are especially since they’re not talked about in the west. It’s pretty easy to find information about them in English and they do have a wiki page and K-pop profile page.
TF stands for “The Fighting” but not like physical fighting. Ya know how like in k-dramas they say “fighting” or in anime they say “ganbare” in Chinese they say “加油” (jia you) which is like a cheering phrase. The TFboys English name is used a lot but their Chinese name is 加油男孩 (the fighting boys). TF also stands for the entertainment company, time fengjun entertainment or just TFentertainment based in Chongqing. The TFboys were the ones to really start the TFfamily machine so people don’t really refer to them as the 1st generation, but timeline wise they are the first.
TNT/Teens in Times (2nd generation)
TNT officially debuted in 2019 but there was a lot of work happening before they debuted. To explain how the TFfamily machine works, I like to imagine they have a big warehouse of young Chinese boys with bowl cuts who are trained to sing and dance. I believe the generation refers to when they joined rather than age. For example, Ding Chengxin from the 2nd gen is 22 years old while Roy Wang from the 1st gen is 23 years old. They only have a one year difference but they’re in different generations. Each generation has a large group of trainees but the number of members to join the group and debut is small.
Before TNT debuted, there was tyt which included 4 future members of TNT plus another 2nd gen member named Yao Jingyuan. That group disbanded (I don’t really know why) so they created a new idol show called typhoon project which featured all 7 future members of TNT. It was originally supposed to be an elimination style show where there would be only 5 members in TNT. But the members and audience protested so all 7 members could debut together. The members are Ma Jiaqi, Ding Chengxin, Song Yaxuan, Liu Yaowen, Zhang Zhenyuan, Yan Haoxiang, and He Junlin.
Transform Project (3rd generation) + ??? 4th generation
To be honest I don’t know much about the 3rd and 4th generations. The 3rd gen is getting their own show right now on IQIYI named Transform project. On the poster of the show, it features 13 boys so I assume some will not make the final group because 13 is a crazy number of members in a boy group. I will watch the show I’ve just been busy watching the Rap of China 2024. The 4th generation members are pretty new so I don’t know much about them. According to Kpop profiles, there’s 16 members?!? Sometimes it’s too much for my brain.
Links
This wiki has the names of members and their birthdays you just have to scroll a bit.
Typhoon project engsubs
Young TNT trainee performance - becoming Superman
Tf family 2nd-4th gen games 2024 no engsub yet (like the Olympics but just TF family/colors refer to the generation)
Tl:dr - China loves young boy idols with bowlcuts and they’re not slowing down anytime soon
