Since I seem to be the only one posting Subwoolfer gifs on Tumblr so far, here's one I made from their TikTok so that it could be shared with greater ease and less context:

I wish I could empathize more with all the disgruntled Spanish voters but after the televoters demonstrated a clear lack of taste by ranking Blanca Paloma, arguably the best vocalist that evening, third-last I can't really say I'm too bothered.
Anyway, super excited for Chanel to burn the Eurovision stage to the ground in May! In the face of the naysayers and as Rayden expressed it perfectly: A llorar a la Calle de la llorería.

Benidorm Semi-final #1
I'm still shook by Chanel going all Fuego on us - elevating a merely decent song to unimaginable heights with a killer performance. Especially impressed by the choreography, so challenging and memorable, wow.
My mind is still blown by Blanca Paloma, too! The first out of all NF performances that had my jaw on the floor throughtout the entire song. Stunning staging and her voice - clear as water and yet so heavy and suffocating as if I've sunken to the ocean floor. There's an ancient energy permeating this performance that crushed me in the best way possible. These two entries felt the most Eurovision-ready for me by far and I would be overjoyed to see either of them win Benidorm.

Pabandom is naujo 2022 / "Sentimentai"
youtube
Such a sensual and immersive entry! What I really love about Monika Liu is that she's such a natural performer. Her mimics and gestures convey that she feels completely at home right on that stage; the way she moves and plays with the camera, it all feels so effortless.
Musically it's so intriguing as well. The song is constantly evolving, going through new delevelopments every few seconds with ear-catching transitions in-between. Oh, and the Lithuanian language has literally never sounded more attractive and exciting to me than here. I'm scandalized that it's been more than two decades since we've heard a fully Lithuanian song on Eurovision (Ieva's two lines at the end of her 2018 song lasting whole five seconds hardly count).

As for the staging: The beginning looks stunning with the golden light rays illuminating Monika from behind like a movie-star of a bygone era. While the background images that appear afterwards feel stylistically fitting, they're not cohesive enough to really elevate what's already a strong musical delivery and performance. The sudden change between seemingly random colors don't really make sense to me. A more thought-out color palette would do wonders and I think there's a lot of room for the staging to really dabble into the 20s aestetics here. I want more extravagance, more Art déco!
Overall, I desperately hope for this act to be chosen for Turin because I believe it has all the fundamental ingredients for an entry to make a lasting impression and to be remembered for years to come.

Festival da Canção 2022
My first impression is overwhelmingly positive! After listening to all songs several times these two emerged as my top 2 favorites and were added to my playlist on the spot:
FF – Como É Bom Esperar Alguém : The warmth in his voice and the vibrant tone of it, all combined with the bare-stripped bass accompaniment envelope me completely like a heart-felt embrace; And as the song progresses with the violins kicking in, it gains a grandiosity that gives it a memorable and dynamic finish.
Pongo e Tristany – DÉGRÁ.DÊ: This is giving me LIFE. Honestly, this is electrifying; among all national selection songs so far this has evoked the most visceral reaction from me. The trance-like atmosphere, the change in rhythms, Pongo's energizing vocals, it drives me WILD.
Other entries that also made a strong impression on me were Fado Bicha – "Povo pequenino" (so surreal and so yet distinctly portuguese) and Jonas – "Pontas Soltas" (so gloomy and dramatic).

Out of all national selections this year "Thank God I'm An Atheist" is probably the song that I will remember the clearest for its lyrics. I love how deceivingly sweet Olivera's voice is in contrast to the somber and almost depressing atmosphere. There's certainly bite behind her words (lesson learnt: don't bring a knife to a firefight) but also a fragility that deeply affects me. I'm so living for the existential anxiety she's serving us.
