After Time
Days go by, things change, time does not stand still.
Can you tell me how many things you've lost without realizing it? Like a hair tie that fell somewhere, a crumpled receipt from a store that accidentally fell out of your pocket, or a pencil that you lent to a classmate for a day and then forgot about. Thoughts are lost just like things. Some moments are gradually forgotten, or replaced by false memories. Even now, many in Piltover and Zaun would like it to be just a lie, but...
War hardens, leaves scars, makes people unite, and then raises a stronger and tougher new generation. After the battle between Zaun and Piltover with Noxus, much has changed. The streets were much quieter and emptier than before. All over the city you could see destroyed houses and roads, just waiting to drag you down under the rubble if you suddenly stepped in the wrong place.
After Jace and Victor went missing, Ekko headed down to find Vi sobbing bitterly. He quickly grabbed his friend and led her away from the destroyed hex gate. Down below they found a wounded Caitlyn. According to Vi, Jinx died sacrificing herself to kill Warwick. And also Ekko hadn't seen Heimerdinger since he'd gotten out of the other universe. Maybe the yordle really was dead. Did he really decide to sacrifice his life for the boy? It was impossible to say for sure. Everything that happened after was like a fog...
Now, on the bridge that connected Zaun and Piltover, many people gathered to honor the memory of the dead. Slowly, the lights of burning papers with names began to rise from the bridge. Sitting on the roof of one of the Zaun houses, Ekko cursed himself. Even though he saved everyone, he did not feel happy. The city was still partially destroyed, too many people died in this terrible war. Even if things didn't end as badly as they could have, he couldn't help but envy the other Ekko. The Ekko who had it all together: no war, no senseless losses, no hextech, just a place where everyone was happy. But this timeline Ekko was now forced to remain alone with himself and his thoughts.
Looking at the paper in his hand, he sighed quietly, then set it on fire. The paper flew up, caught in the wind and slowly burning. Silently grieving his loss, he watched as it rose into the air and began to gradually disappear. Now Jinx was gone. The poor boy's heart broke even more with that realization. He didn't want it to end like this.
It was quite chilly outside at night, but it didn't seem to bother Ekko much. He watched as the last embers of the paper burned right before his eyes. No, not now. He didn't want to say goodbye to her so early. But it was too late now.
It was one of the few times Ekko allowed himself to cry.
Soon a new council was assembled. Sooner or later, the residents will rebuild the destroyed parts of the city, the population will increase again, and this war will forever be written into the academic history books...
The days continue to pass, things continue to change, and time still does not stand still...
