Pairing: Young!Platonic GN Reader/Arthur Morgan

Word Count: 4,104

Arthur had promised last night around the campfire he’d take you out this morning for a training session before he had to leave on a mission. Today was that day. 

You waited near the horses patiently while Arthur packed up his things near his tent. It was an exciting day. You’d had some experience shooting and scouting but nowhere near the amount that Arthur has. He was like a father figure to you, having convinced Dutch to allow him to take you under his wing a couple years ago. You’d been inseparable ever since. 

“Ya ready, kiddo?” Arthur asked as he approached, adjusting his hat atop his head. 

“Ready, Arthur.” You smiled at the man, nodding. 

“Alright, now, you stick close to me. We’ve gotta ride out pretty far to avoid bringin’ any attention to camp, okay?” He explained, placing his hand on your shoulder. 

Once again, you nodded, understanding the gravity of the situation as well as the safety measures that had to be taken. 

“Let’s go.” He nodded towards your horses.

It didn’t take the two of you long to get to an open spot far away enough from camp that you wouldn’t attract any attention with the guns. 

Hoping down off your house, you helped Arthur place random cans and bottles around as targets. 

“Okay, scout, c’mere.” He waved you over to where he’d positioned himself a good ways away from the targets, wanting to give you enough room to aim but also wanting to make it simple enough for you. 

“You see that bottle, there in the middle, I want you to take that one first without my help, okay? Then we’ll see how you need to adjust.” He patted your shoulder, stepping off to the side. 

You smiled excitedly, taking his previous spot to line yourself up with his rifle. You steadied your breathing, lined up your shot, and..missed. 

With a slightly deflated and defeated look, you lowered the rifle. 

“Hey, it’s okay, kiddo. No big deal, we can fix that.” Arthur approached, helping readjust the rifle. “Alright, now line it up.” Arthur waited for you to line up the shot. When you did, he nodded. “Good, now breathe real slow. Always take the shot on empty lungs.” As you did so, he nodded. “Good, kiddo. Now, give it a go. Take the shot when you’re ready.” 

He stepped back once more, assessing how you do. 

You followed his instructions. Deep breath in, slow and steady out, and fired on the last bit of air out. You hit the target dead on this time. You smiled triumphantly, looking to Arthur. 

“Good job, kiddo! Proud of ya. I knew ya could do it.” He smiled, reaching over to ruffle your hair playfully. “Almost as good as your uncle John now.” He snickered. 

“Pa, that’s not fair!” You smacked him away, scowling at him. 

“What? It’s true! Now, c’mon, try a few more.” Arthur chuckled, bumping you on the arm with the back of his hand.

Bonus: 

That was the first time you’d ever called him Pa. It was something that stuck and continued on for a long, long time. Arthur eventually trained you enough to go out on missions with him when you wanted to, never really straying too far from you during the entire ordeal. He hardly ever let you out of his sight; didn’t want to chance anything bad happening. 

Arthur did go on to get married to a nice partner and all of you did leave the gang behind. The three of you bought a farm out west when Arthur’s name was cleared and farmed together for the rest of your lives together. You all had a nice, happy, calm life after. And you did keep in touch with various gang members, seeing them all once in a while, even going on hunting trips with Hosea, John, and Charles sometimes.

Lenny Summers - I love Lenny, he's so cute! I actually can't picture Lenny being sexual in like any way. I know he's in a gang and literally kills/has killed people but like...I don't know I just can't lol. I will write LOADS of fluff and things that allude to smut but nothing graphic for him.
