A Jedi Once Said...
I love absolutely anything and everything Star Wars. There is a specific reason why though. Star Wars is something more than just a movie saga. Star Wars instills wisdom and valuable lessons. Star Wars teaches you life lessons. All characters in the movie sagas are there to teach valuable lessons. I personally am a Jedi. I am a Jedi for many reasons. For one, the code of conduct is something I try to follow. To become a doctor, you must encounter the training it takes to become a Jedi, and to learn the ways of the Force.
~There is no emotion; there is peace.
~There is no ignorance; there is knowledge.
~There is no passion; there is serenity.
~There is no chaos; there is harmony.
~There is no death; there is the Force.
~The peace and justice of the Galaxy will be guarded, and all life in any form is and will be respected.
~For my ally is the Force, and I use its powers to serve and protect the innocent from evil.
~I seek goodness, and defend it from the Dark Side. I have dedicated my life to the Truth, I am the Light.’
~I am Jedi
The Code of conduct is special and very few have what it takes to be a Jedi. Jedi’s never give up on anything. They use the force. The force is what drives them to be better human beings and use their powers for good. Using the force can be tough, especially when life can throw Sith Lords into your life. That shouldn’t be a reason to worry. Being a Jedi and following the Jedi Code of Conduct will help throughout this premed journey believe it or not. How does this pertain to becoming a doctor? might you ask, well... being a Jedi means that you are on the Light Side, and that means that you have nothing but wisdom. Wisdom that was bestowed upon you through time. Here is the catch, you are not all of a sudden a Jedi though.
All of a sudden being a Jedi over night is unheard of. You start your journey as a Padawan, which is a Jedi in training and which means you are learning the ways of the force through another Jedi, specifically a Jedi Master. Becoming a Jedi Master is no easy task. You must realize you have talents and that you might be able to help. You do not become a Padawan in an instant. Its a destiny. It is a calling and it is something you have to feel. The force is something you have no idea about as a kid, and you have no idea that training to become a Jedi is going to happen until something significant happens in your life. You run into the right Jedi and you then figure out you have this hidden talent of the force. Training to become a Jedi is hard. There are days where it will be so hard and that you want to quit, but Jedi Master will not let you quit, because that will lead you to the Dark Side. See becoming a doctor is a lot like training to become a Jedi. The one thing about Jedi’s which is wonderful, is that they believe. They believe in the Force no matter what, no matter how tough things might be with their family lives, whether they are getting attacked in the town of Tatooine by the Death Star. They always believed and they never gave up on their dreams. The one thing about a true Jedi Master, is that they always believed and they never gave in to the Dark Side, no matter how strong the Dark Side is. They never let their emotions get to them, they used peace and they always keep their cool, no matter what chaos (harmony to us Jedi’s) is going on.
Premeds are Padawan’s, we do not take the easy way out. We find a way to believe in the Force. We find a way to keep bettering ourselves as future Jedi’s. See medicine is all about learning and gaining knowledge. There is no ignorance, there is only knowledge, which we are getting passed down to us from our Jedi Masters. Our Jedi Masters could in fact be our mentors in medicine. The goal is to teach the ways of the Force that was passed down to us from our Jedi Masters to your future Padawan’s. Your Jedi Master never gives up on you and they always believe in the Force, so that one day you too can become a Jedi Master. Being a Jedi Master, comes with a lot of hardships. Any Sith Lord would take the easy way out and decide to go a different path, and be apart of the Dark Side. As you grow during your undergraduate years as a Padwan, you gain wisdom. You never stop learning wisdom as you are training to become a Jedi, and when you are a Jedi Master. The wisest in the Galaxy are the Jedi Masters for a reason because they believe and trust in the Force. They believe in themselves and in others. They do not compete, they encourage. You are a Padawan for a reason.
When you start believing in the Force as a Padawan, beautiful things start to happen. You do not procrastinate, you get ahead. You help others in the classes who might be struggling. You are not ignorant and you are not cocky, you just want to use the Force for good, and to start making a difference. You become wiser as each day goes by. You learn that being a Jedi is a path that you are willing to take. No matter what, know that the Force is with you, and that you are one with the Force. Whether it takes you four years or eight, continue to believe in the Force young Padawan, because the more you train and the wiser you become wile using the Force, the greater chance you get into Osteopathic Medical School or Allopathic Medical School. While you are studying and gaining the knowledge you need to succeed, remember there is no ignorance there is only knowledge. Remember the path it takes to become a Jedi Master is not an easy one. It comes with failures, and thats okay. When Luke Skywalker couldn’t move his ship out of the river/pond in Dagobah, a very wise Jedi Master had very wise words to young Skywalker which go a little like this: Try not! DO or DO not, there is no try.~Jedi Master Yoda...Guess what happens after Yoda says that quote... I bet you already know! ;) You do not need be the best in the class to become a Jedi Master, you need to embrace the Force and allow the opportunity grow as a Padawan. You need to fall down and get back up and continue to use the Force!
Chirrut Imwe in Rogue One, was not a Jedi, but he was really close to being one. I can tell you right now I consider him one, because he never stopped believing in the Force. He is the example to lead by as a Padawan. He was for sure a Padawan. He always believed no matter what was going on. He always used the Force and he was able to kill off fleets of Imperial soldiers, because he used the Force and he used his Jedi senses to be able to defeat them. He never gave up. You must believe in order to do what he did. On your journey as a premed and becoming a Jedi Master, you have to believe and you have to realize that it is not an easy walk in Endor. You need to use the Force and use your Jedi instincts. You know what is right. You know what is wrong. You must do no harm yes, or forever the Dark Side you shall go yes. Do not fear, things happen for a reason. You are this far in the Jedi training Young Padawan, do not give up now. Believe in the Force and forever a Jedi you will prosper to be yes. Use the Force wisely. Use the Force for peace. Failure in the process of becoming a Jedi is expected. Do not fear. Trust in your instincts. A Jedi you will become, but until that day Padawan, remember.... I am one with the Force, and the Force is with me. ~Chirrut Imwe
My Young Jedi Padawan’s,
~May The Force Be With You.

Welcome to The Mind of A Premed
Okay so, I am a typical premed student who is currently getting straight A’s, and finals for start on Monday, and I can for sure tell you I am going to crush them! Yeah that sounds too good to be true here. I want to welcome you all into my crazy insane life. I am currently a sophomore at a very small liberal arts school, majoring in Biology with a minor in Chemistry. As well as that I am a collegiate athlete, but right now due to injury, I have decided to take the season off again and to just get back to being healthy. I am a collegiate swimmer. Something I will talk about later I will explain my story as I continue to write.
I am no where near perfect. I am an average student in the classroom, but I do not let that effect me. I have severe ADHD, so it means that I have to study even harder. No matter what I can promise you that, you are not alone the process of getting into medical school. I do a lot of side work and I learn the best at the hospital at the clinic on the sidelines. Whatever it may be, as long as it is not a lecture and basically told, “HA EVERYTHING FROM LECTURE IS FAIR GAME for your next exam”. I am a very hands on learner. I like to help and I like to learn also by being asked question. I am no where near perfect, but I know I will be able to make it!
Medicine was a calling. Osteopathic medicine to me is a calling and a passion as well as sports medicine. Medicine is fascinating and I love the fact that you never stop learning what so ever. My life is crazy and I am a crazy person, but I know at the end of the day it will be worth it. I want to be able to make an impact when I am a doctor. I don’t care about the money and I don’t care about working with high up sports teams, if I get the opportunity to ever land a sports medicine fellowship. I want to go and give back. I want to honestly go to third world countries and travel and make a differences in others lives. I think thats a huge reason why I decided since I was a young child that I wanted to become a doctor. Medicine is not for everybody, but I can tell you this, medicine is for me. Osteopathic medicine is for me. I will do whatever it takes to one day have D.O. after my last name.
Guys I hope you will continue to follow this Padawan’s journey to becoming a full blown Jedi Master D.O.!
