[TRANS] Newsen - Interview with Park Minha (Part 2)
Transitioning from singing to acting, becoming an actress after leaving [a] group has become a common happening. Park Min-ha, or Nine Muses’ Min-ha who became actress Park Min-ha, met the public with her new title.
Park Min-ha acted as a writer in an investigative journalism program, Argon’, called Kim Jin-hee in the tvN drama ‘Argon’ that has ended on the 26th of September. In the drama, Kim Jin-hee was made a mole by news bureau Yoo Myeong-ho (acted by Lee Seung-jun), and a character that put [her] team and team members in danger.
This is a drama that Park Min-ha did after leaving Nine Muses for a year and three months, and with regards to the end of ‘Argon’, she said, “It was the first drama for me after starting out as an actress. It was a new feeling. [My] mindset is a little different too. I think it was a meaning start.”

Park Min-ha has tried acting before while being in Nine Muses with ‘Plus Nine Boys’. ‘Argon’ was the next one. How have she prepared herself as an actress?
She said, “Since it was a year long, I prepared myself a lot during that period of time. I was watching ‘Another Miss Oh’ and fell for Senior Seo Hyun-ji. I loved the dialogues. And so I looked up the dialogues and practiced with it. I think I have to mix the things I felt during the hiatus, and things I thought and learned while filming ‘Argon’ in the future,” and laughed.
[She] talked about being an idol-turned-actress too. She thinks the best idol-turned-actresses are Seo Hyun-ji and Park Hee-von. She said, “I like both Senior Seo Hyun-ji and Senior Park Hee-von. Both of them were from the group, MILK. I think they act really well, and make people who watch them feel comfortable too. I too, want to become an actress that the public can view upon comfortably, or feel good about me one day.”
Among the idol-turned-actors/actresses that promoted around the same time as her, she picked Im Si-wan to be the best. Park Min-ha and Im Si-wan were both from the entertainment agency, Star Empire. Park Min-ha promoted under Nine Muses, while Im Si-wan promoted under ZE:A.
She said, “Si-wan oppa is an idol-turned-actor that was acknowledged. I think he’s doing really well. We didn’t get many opportunities to talk in the past since we were busy, but we met once before he went to the army. We talked a lot about acting. Since he doesn’t have the answers too, we both thought about them together. I wish to have another talk like this again if there’s an opportunity after he gets discharged,” and expressed her thankful heart. She also talked about her future goals.
“I think it’s natural for idol-turned-actresses to get prejudice. But I would like to think that it will be alright if I prepare well and show [the public]. I think that’s the homework I have to do. There are lots of things that I have yet to show. While acting as Kim Jin-hee, I thought I could do other roles well. I’m still an unpolished stone. I hope to polish myself through different works. (Laughs)”

[TRANS] Newsen - Interview with Park Minha
‘Argon’ Park Minha “First work after leaving Nine Muses, time that was like a dream” (Interview)
From Nine Muses’ Minha to Actress Park Minha, [she] made a new start. [She] starred in ‘Argon’ only after leaving Nine Muses for a year and three months. Park Minha said, “It was great to make this new start by working with good actors/actresses and with this good drama.”
After debuting in Nine Muses in 2010 and promoting as a girl group member for a long time, Park Minha switched paths and became an actress last year in June. She made a start with ‘Argon’ (by scriptwriters Jeon Young-shin, Ju Won-gyu, Shin Ha-eun, directed by Lee Yoon-jeong, originally written by Gu Dong-hee, produced by Daydream Entertainment) after a short yet long hiatus of a year and three months. Although she was in the drama ‘Plus Nine Boys’ while promoting as a Nine Muses member, it is her first time appearing with the ‘actress’ title.

In an interview with Newsen in the afternoon on the 27th of September, to express how she felt promoting as an actress instead, Park Minha said, “When I first entered the new company, even taking the car was awkward. I felt that a lot especially during meal times. I can only order one item. [We] used to order a few different items and ate them together,” and “I contact and meet up with the members a lot more than expected. Since we can’t meet when I’m filming, I called [them] during my filming breaks because I wanted to chitchat with them.”
When asked about how she spent her time during her hiatus, she said, “I prepared a lot in terms of acting. There were no promises and might end up becoming a long wait. I didn’t know if I was going to make it. I worked hard on having mind control myself. Because I wouldn’t be able to start if I entered a slump or do not have the energy required. I think I just kept focusing on prepping myself.”
When asked about ‘Argon’, the drama that broke her hiatus and her first drama as an actress instead of a Nine Muses member, Park Minha said that there’s no way else to describe it except it being special to her. She also said that the filming site and chemistry between the cast were good. Although it was a short 8-episode drama, Park Minha said, “It felt like a dream because we really worked like a team in unity,” and smiled.
She said, “I was worried about having chemistry with the seniors, but they take care of me a lot more than I expected and we were able to work in unity and with synergy so it was really good. Because we were always in the office, [we had synergy] despite it only being a short time. An 8-episode long drama is rare, and everyone felt sad when we had to part,” and “I learned a lot from watching my seniors act. It’s different from how I imagined them to act when I read my scripts. I thought to myself, ‘so it can also be expressed through that way too’.”
[She] also talked about her character, Kim Jin-hee, being a spy or mole in the drama. Due to the difficult family situations, Kim Jin-hee acted by Park Minha bought daily necessities using the company’s money, and was caught by news bureau Yoo Myeong-ho (acted by Lee Seung-jun) who made her a mole for him. And she caused Yook Hye-ri (acted by Park Hee-von), who brought the cue sheets, lots of trouble because of it.
Park Minha said, “I didn’t know the character is a spy when I first started, and I think it was more interesting because she had more story to her character.” She also said, “I wasn’t burdened by the spy role, but I was a little burdened by the scene where I had to confess to Senior Park Hee-von when I received the script for it. I told her that I was concerned about it, and she told me to just act comfortably. We filmed that at night, and I even dreamed about talking about that scene with the director when I was taking a nap in the car that morning after,” and laughed.
She also said, “Senior Park Hee-von and I are seniors and juniors from the same middle and high school. We are both idols-turned-actresses too. We used the same waiting room too. I relied on her a lot in the drama, and also followed her well outside it,” about her senior, Park Hee-von, with affection.
‘Argon’ that Park Minha is in ended on the 26th. The first episode of the follow-up drama, ‘Because This Is My First Life’ starring Lee Min-ki and Jeon So-min, will be airing on the 9th of October at 9:30PM.

[TRANS] Yonhapnews - Interview with Park Minha
‘Argon’ Park Minha “First challenge after leaving Nine Muses… Thankful for the good piece of work”

“This was the first drama [I] took after leaving Nine Muses and I was really thankful and happy to be able to take on this good piece of work and meet nice actors and actresses through it.”
Park Minha (26), who acted as Kim Jin-hee in the well-appraised tvN drama ‘Argon’, said this in an interview that happened in Gwanghwamun, Seoul, on the 27th.

Park Minha, who debuted in girl group Nine Muses in 2010, left the group in June last year and turned into an actress instead. Although it is hard to stand alone after having members who would stand together with [her] on stage, [she] looked forward more than she felt afraid as she “wanted to try going on a new path”.
Kim Jin-hee was revealed to be a mole sent by Yoo Myeong-ho (acted by Lee Seung-jun) in the drama.

“I didn’t know my character was a spy when I first got casted. The Nine Muses members called me too and asked if I really was the spy. However, what I felt wronged about was that if [I] was going to suffer this much mentally, [I] should’ve spent more money, but I realized only at a later time that I didn’t even spend that much? (Laughs) Anyway, I’m glad to be able to have a role in this drama.”
Even though the scene where Kim Jin-hee revealed to Yook Hye-ri (acted by Park Hee-von) that she is the mole was the most memorable, she said, “I didn’t know it will be revealed like this. My heart hurt when I read the script.”

Regarding the ‘idol-turned-actress’ prejudice, Park Minha said, “Although there is that [prejudice], I believe I can overcome it if I do well,” and “Senior Seo Hyun-jin who is great at being natural in her roles, or Senior Park Hee-von also debuted as a girl group member, but they are working in the acting industry without being labeled as that (idol-turned-actress). I respect them.”
She, too, emphasized, “I want to become an actress who doesn’t make the viewers uncomfortable but instead make them feel good when watching me act too.”

[TRANS] Chic News - Keyword Interview with Park Minha
(Keyword interview) New actress Park Minha’s #Instagram, #Work_That_She_Wants, #Dream

With her milky skin and long limbs, actress Park Minha’s appearance while walking over was just like a model. Although she was the Park Minha who showed many colorful charms while being in Nine Muses, she was preparing to show a side that she hasn’t showed before and as a character in a drama. Chic News has recently met her and talked about a variety of things in a building at Nonhyeon-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul.
Park Minha has three Instagram accounts. An account that only has food photos, an account for photos taken with a film camera, and also an account for her daily life. Part of the reason why is also to get closer and be able to communicate with her fans.
“Fans call me ‘Bap Minha’ instead of Park Minha’ because I love to eat. Because I love to eat, the photo album in my phone was full of food photos. There was nowhere to upload them and I was just keeping them, but when I opened the account and uploaded them, there garnered lots of interest. Now I pick and upload them with a sense of duty. I couldn’t upload any photos for a while since I was filming, but I’ll start uploading them again now. My favorite food are meat, raw fish, soy sauce marinated crab. (Laughs)”
“It’s the same for my film photo account. I got into photography last year and bought a film camera. I took photos at the filming sites of ‘Argon’ too. I’m the kind of person who needs to feel like going out for me to get out. (Laughs) Out of all the places I’ve went to, I liked Jeju the most. I go there a lot since it’s near, and I love it every time I go. It’s a place where I feel relaxed.”
Just like how much [she] wanted to let people know that she’s starting out as an actress earnestly with ‘Argon’, her acting image had no boundaries too. She picked “a work that women would be able to relate” as the image she wanted to show to the audience.
“I think dramas that revolve around women’s stories like ‘I Need Romance’ or ‘Age of Youth’ would be fun. After all, I think there would be more ‘chemistry’ between women, and that dramas revolving around women are more relatable. Women are more emotional in a way, which is why I feel that it would be more interesting. An actress I would like to work with is Senior Jeong Yu-mi. I like the comfortable and lovely feeling about her. I’d like to try the romance genre too since I haven’t tried it before. I’m okay with acting with someone older, younger or same aged as me.”
When asked about how Park Minha pictures herself to be like in 10 years’ time, on the 27th of September, 2027, instead of giving a vague answer like ‘an actress with a certain image’, she gave a more detailed answer.
“I hope that day would be a press conference for a drama or the premiere for a movie that I’m the lead actress in. Although I’m not a fan of the procedural/thriller genre, I’d like to try that once so I wish for that to be the genre. It seems hard, but I’d like to challenge it after working harder.”

[TRANS] Legend Baseball Interview with Minha
Q: How was your first encounter with Legend Baseball (screen baseball) like?
A: I was a little worried at first but I think the short, special lecture by the two members, Yang Jun-hyeok and Lee Jong-beom, really helped. At first, it was set according to my skills and after I got a feel of it, I was enjoying [the game] during the second half of the shoot.
Q: If there is something you would like to do together with Legend Baseball in the remaining of this year, what would it be?
A: Like there is a ‘baseball goddess’ in the field of baseball, I want to be a model representative for screen baseball and that is a small goal I have. I think this great opportunity would act as a stepping stone [for me] to gain interest in not only screen baseball but also baseball.

[Trans] Esquire Korea - Park Minha, Not Afraid
Park Minha, Not Afraid Afraid to be alone. But confidently preparing for her future activities. From ‘Nine Muses’ to Minha.

No qualms. Active. Park Minha posed in front of the camera without hesitation. It was to the extent of us doubting if she was the same person with the shy laugh when we first met face-to-face.
It was something of a different color as I haven’t had many solo pictorial shoots. I usually did them with the members from Nine Muses.
Park Minha, who was in girl group Nine Muses, left the group after 6 years. It wasn’t because of any particular problem that she had with the group. It was just because the futures each drew were slightly different.
I’ve always wanted to go into acting. I even majored in Theatre and Film in university but I became a member of Nine Muses by chance. I took up the challenge as it seemed like it will be a great experience. There were really many things that happened. I dedicated my youth to it. (Laughs) We are all sisters.

You must have been very sad since you guys have been through thick and thin for 6 years.
I’m really looking forward to it. The members are really busy individually but there’s a limit to showing that. We said to actively work from our individual places.
It’s like a start right from the beginning. There still isn’t a bar set for Actress Park Minha. You seem really determined.
It’s a little awkward since I have to do everything myself now. I have to get used to this new environment. I’m not a young kid either. But I am lucky to have nice people around me who are reliable and that gives me courage. I’ve been receiving acting lessons too. I’ve also been taking care of my health through exercising.

It seems like you have changed a lot of your lifestyle patterns in order to be born again as a good actress.
I was actually a homebody. Nowadays, I go out to meet people. I also do observation of people and try many different possible experiences. There can be so much to learn about acting from human relations. You can’t do anything with a passive or negative personality. I think it’s really important to do something about oneself.

As soon as you graduated from high school, you entered society and only chased after your future that was in front of you. Rather than passiveness, it was more like you only knew to run even without knowing which direction you were heading to.
It was to the extent where I did not know what to do on rest days. Recently, I realized there are actually so many things I can do in my free time, even if it’s only a little. It’s just that I’m not trying when there are plenty of things that can be learnt. I wonder why I had so much fear when there are so many fun things to do. I’ve been learning how to play the piano and taking photographs with my film camera recently.

You will need rest time from time to time. No one is going to tell us things like ‘who am I’ or ‘what should I do’. But life without that means nothing much.
I’m not rushed. It’s only the start now. I have so many roles I would like to try but that’s not something I can fulfil in a day. I have to do it one by one in an orderly way slowly. That is why I’m choosing my first work carefully. I’ve been auditioning a lot too. You’ll see the image of Actress Park Minha within the first half of the year. Please look forward to it.
She recommended the Japanese movie <Glasses> at the end of the interview. She told us that the line she remembers the most from the movie is “What’s important is that you’re not impatient”. And let’s all have a new year that we are not afraid of and forget the wise words.

[Trans] Allets - Bloom, Minha
Bloom, Minha Prettier than the flowers in winter and spring.

Park Minha, girl group Nine Muses’ ‘꽃단애*’ who catches everyone’s attention on stage. Taking a new direction, her preparation to meet the public through screens as an actress is now done. Allets got to meet the girl who is like a winter flower that grows its petals even in the harsh weather.

Attractive navy silk blouse that fits all outfits, G-Cut. Minimal-lined ivory knit dress, editor’s collection. Mesh-material choker, H&M. Gold drop earrings, Pilgrim. Gold bracelet, MZUU.
The photoshoot was done with the theme ‘Bloom’. I feel that this is a concept that matches you very well, what do you think? I’ve always liked flowers. It’s to the extent of my SNS ID having the word ‘blossom’ in it. I liked the concept the moment I received the draft. I filmed a video today too and I’m really curious as to how it will turn out.

Deep green angora cardigan, 8seconds. Asymmetric-cut skirt, Johnny Hates Jazz. Grey suede stiletto hells, Helena and Kristie. Pearl earrings, editor’s collection.
How did the dream of being an actress come about? I went to an acting school under my parents’ advice when I was in high school. At first, I thought the acting industry was a whole new, different world, but I found it really fun after trying it. I think the interest in acting built up gradually.
What did the members think of you moving towards being an actress? Um… Hyuna unnie said that it’s a must for me to film a historical period drama and brainwashed me with it. She wants to see me acting in a hanbok. Also, I haven’t started anything yet since entering the new agency but the members said they want to attend my press preview and congratulated me (laughs).

Comfortable bocaci sweater, Vanessa Bruno. Unique hem-cutting skirt, V Lounge. Two-toned beige ankle boots, Aldo.
When did you get convinced about being an actress? When I was filming my first drama <Plus Nine Boys>, I had fun and enjoyed myself like I was at a picnic. Before filming the drama, I thought, ‘Can I really go into acting?’ but as I was filming it, the thought became ‘I really wanted to act’ and that was the moment of realization.
Do you have any role you want to try or want to be like any actor then? Like ‘Romantic Comedy Queen’ Jung Yoo-mi in <Discovery of Love>, I want to try having a role that many people will be able to relate to. In order to break the idol-turned-actress prejudice, I am working hard while watching other singers-turned-actresses.

Asymmetric cut flower-patterned slip, Low Classic. Oatmeal-colored oversized cardigan, V Lounge.
I’m looking forward to seeing ‘bloomed’ Minha in the future. If you have a dream future, let us know what is it. Although I don’t know how or when I’m going to bloom, I hope to be someone who can firmly endure the process. Someone who can withstand the cold, warmth or wind and persevere until the good day where she can bloom again.

Ruffle-sleeved neck blouse, editor’s collection. Drapery-looking black knit dress, Joseph.
youtube
Although she said she doesn’t know when and how she will bloom, it feels like she is already a flower that has started blooming on this day. The toughness behind the soft-looking face can be felt. Looking forward to the fully bloomed girl in the future.

*I’m not sure how to translate 꽃단애 exactly but it’s one of Minha’s nickname from her Nine Muses days that has to do with the word ‘flower’.

[TRANS] AddyK - Minha x Meditation (Part 2)

How is pilates good for women? You can stretch and correct your body form at the same time and it is fun how you get to use different exercising equipment. You can control the intensity and that helps when you’re doing any movement. I think it’s a good thing how people who are exercising for the first time can follow easily too.
Have you seen the effect of it yet? I notice my posture a lot more now as compared to before. When people are in a relaxed state, their postures tend to become bad. My body should’ve been in an uptight mode and since I usually exert the strength in my abdomen, there are faint lines where my abs should be. If only I started earlier… It’s a pity.
Wearing a shirt over sportswear and going out is a comfortable look called the athleisure look. If you had to meet a friend after you exercised, which look would you pick out of the ones you have worn for the shoot today? The look with the grey snapback. It doesn’t look like a training wear, comfortable and I think you’ll still look cool if you wore it out.

The first broadcast you appeared on was the Chuseok special program, WooSully, after joining a new agency. How was the filming? It was an appearance by chance. Heo Kyunghwan oppa was in it too fortunately so it was a comfortable and fun shoot. It wasn’t a huge role but maybe because it was a Chuseok special so many fans saw it. I only came out for a short while but the fans really liked it so the thought of preparing quickly and creating chances to show my face came to my mind after that.
While you were promoting as a singer, you first made an acting appearance through <Plus Nine Boys> but now that you’re officially promoting as an actress, it seems like you’ll change even if it’s just mentally. Because I’m promoting alone now, I pay more attention to my surrounding. I pay more attention in whatever I do now as compared to before and can’t help but be wary of my actions. Because I have to show a good image, I feel burdened. I have to be more responsible.
Any roles that you would like to try? I personally want to try a Cinderella-like role but don’t all girls dream of that too? (Laughs) I don’t mean a cringeworthy role but rather a female character that receives love from various male characters like the story. For example, I want to try a character with a lovely image like senior Jung Yumi in the drama <Discovery of Love>. Dramas with broadcast stations as the main plot seems fun too and I also want to try playing a role of a detective specialist. I want to try every role. Dramas allow me to live as different characters and tell different stories so I want to try various roles.
Any actor or actress that you want to work with or role model? Senior Seo Hyunjin. She debuted through a girl group too. Senior Seo Hyunjin has broken the prejudice of idol-turned-actresses with her lovely and natural acting. <Let’s Eat 2> had left a great impression on me when I watched it and it seems like we will match well when it comes to food. (Laughs)
It seems like a great idea for you to do <Let’s Eat 3>. Would you like to act in a drama or movie with food as a theme? Yes! I don’t mind even if I have to film all night if it’s a drama like <Let’s Eat> or <Late Night Restaurant>, that’s how much I want it. If I get a character that eats really well, I have confidence in it.
Minha with a nickname ‘Bap Minha’. I was wondering if you were the one who made the ‘Bap Minha’ account and it really was you. I wasn’t one who take food photos initially. I fell for the great visuals of good food. I’m not taking them to show them off but rather I feel good when I see them after a long, tiring day while lying on my bed. It seemed like my account will get mixed up if I upload too many food photos on my personal account so I was wondering what to do. I feel like I have to be responsible for the additional account I made all of a sudden. My friends are not the only ones who are seeing the photos I’m uploading but the fans as well so I pick what I post wisely because I feel like I can’t make any random recommendations. My friends told me to make Bapsta (Bap + Instagram) too. (Laughs)
You did the athleisure look for this shoot but what’s the style you usually like? I like basic, simple and clean styles. I wear basic items a lot and I like casual styles like matching a shirt with jeans or skirt. And knitwear that’s seen more often nowadays with the changing season. I have knitwear in all sorts of colors at home but whenever I see a knitwear that catches my eye, I think ‘I have to get this!’ and buy it impulsively.
Autumn is a reading season. Is there any book you would like to recommend to our readers? <I Am Still Far From Being An Adult>* by writer Kang Sehyung. I read this a few years ago but because the book feels very relatable so I read it a few times. Every time I read this book, I’ll feel like writing a book like it in the future. Something that can provide small, little comfort in our daily lives.
*The Korean title of the book is <나는 아직 어른이 되려면 멀었다>
If you were to look back at this year? It’s a year that I made a new challenge and a new start. Like making a huge change in my life by stepping out of my comfort zone and entering a new place? I think I won’t be afraid of what’s to come in the future. (Laughs)

[TRANS] AddyK Magazine - Minha x Meditation
Seasonal change that makes people feel smaller, the athleisure look that allows people to move freer is dazzling.

Looking forward to Actress Park Minha. It feels emptier now as compared to when you were still having group activities. Although it used to be noisy because there would be 4 to 5 people in one car as we move around, it feels lonely now I’m the only one in the car. The same goes for mealtime. In the past, a few items will be ordered and everyone will share them but now, I will face the trouble of thinking what to eat… At times like those, I will start thinking of the other members automatically.

Because there is much more alone time, it seems like you are able to do the things you like more often. When there is free time, I will feel like learning more new things. I’m into learning Chinese and started exercising recently. There is a want of picking up new things. I do not have any special hobbies but there are things where I am learning and do okay in like playing the piano, calligraphy, watercolor painting, etc. I want to showcase more of Park Minha’s emotions through my hobbies. (Smiles)

You’re doing the athleisure look for the pictorial today, what kind of exercises are you doing right now? I learned yoga in the past. It’s good to meditate but because it needed flexibility and didn’t feel like I’m working out, I stopped doing it. Fortunately, I inherited my father’s good physique genes but I didn’t know the importance of exercising when I was young so I’ve never really done any real exercises in my 26 years of life. I started doing pilates recently. Although figure is important, I felt the need to exercise as time goes by. I’m enjoying it and I even have the thought like ‘if I knew it was this good, I would’ve started earlier’. I used to think exercising as a tiring thing but I’ve been wanting to do it every day recently and if I were to skip it for only a day, my body feels heavy so I’ve been doing it consistently.
