Thank you to everyone who came out to the Pancake Breakfast last Saturday at the fire house in Warners or cooked items for the bake sale. Since we had leftover supplies, we ended up making breakfast at the BVM Church in Syracuse after mass on Sunday. Between the 2 days we made a little over $1000!! Thank you all very much. A special thanks goes to the crazy people who helped out with preparing and serving all the food, not just one day, but on both days. I could not have done it without all of you ;)

A grandmother wanders through the space that used to be her home.   Four months after Super-typhoon Haiyan claimed her house, she finds herself living in a small two room shanty with 4 other family members.  Her new residence is constructed out of materials reclaimed from piles of debris like this one which surrounded her former home after the storm passed Tacloban.  She hopes it is only a temporary solution to her housing challenges and that one day she will be able to rebuild in the space she used to call home.

In Tanauan, a community outside of Tacloban, a massive tank, still filled with oil sits atop a home where it was placed by Yolanda. Inside, men from the power authority slide through chambers trying to create plans for how to safely disassemble the roadside curiosity.  Outside a little girl and her brother wander about in a landscape not meant for children.  After the storm, 34 neighbors moved out of their destroyed homes, and into theirs.
