Song Of The Day #3
Today's song is...
WINTER FLOWER by YOUNHA (ft. RM)
Genius describes this song as Younha and RM teamed up to talk about struggle, mental health, self abasement, and where to find the source of comfort. After Younha's soothing vocals and RM's emotional verse, the song end with a wish of staying alive.

"시린 겨울바람 깊은 발자국 아래 홀로 피어나 내가 태어나고 널 만난 이유를 찾아서 헤매어"
("Freezing cold wind of the winter
Blooming alone under the deep footsteps
I'm lost trying to find the reason
I was born and met you")

Where'd You Put That Wednesday #1: BTS Albums
Hey there! On this wonderful Wednesday, we will be ranking BTS's albums from worst (let's be real, is still great) to their best! This list will not be containing Japanese releases and the Skool Luv Affair Special Addition (sorry!). Also, repackaged albums will be judged by songs that were added to the album (for example, YNWA will be ranked based on songs that weren't on Wings). Hopefully, you enjoy it!
WARNING: This is based completely on my personal opinion. If you think differently from this list, don't be scared and let me know! I would love to hear where people and agree and disagree. With that being said, let's rank these albums...
*Flash warning for some of the GIFs*
15. BE (2020)
I never really listen to these songs. Maybe it was because this was during a time where I wasn’t listening to them as much and exploring other music, but this album does not hit as much as the other albums personally. One of the good things about this album is that they produced an actually good EDM song. I can appreciate the increased production from previous years compared to this though.
Top 3 songs:
1. Telepathy
2. Life Goes On
3. Dynamite
-----
14. 2 Cool 4 Skool (2013)
BTS’s first project is very good even if it is very low on my list. It’s not that the album is bad but it just doesn’t compare to the rest of BTS’s discography. Everyone has to start somewhere.
Top 3 songs:
1. Like
2. We Are Bulletproof Pt. 2
3. No More Dream
-----
13. O! RUL8, 2? (2013)
Despite having my favorite BTS song (If I Ruled The World) this album overall can not compare to the rest of their albums. Although it still has some highlight BTS songs like Coffee, Paidogangson, and If I Ruled The World that I would recommend to every new BTS fan.
Top 3 songs:
1. If I Ruled The World
2. Coffee
3. We On
-----
12. Map Of The Soul: Persona (2019)
This is just the slightly worst version of LYS Her. I feel like BTS’s pop songs are so good but these are some of their worst when it comes to that genre. Both Make It Right and Boy With Luv were overplayed to the gods and Mikrokosmos is surprisingly boring. But the four other songs that feature on this album are some of their best though.
Top 3 songs:
1. Jamais Vu
2. HOME
3. Intro: Persona
-----
11. Skool Luv Affair (2014)
Their second EP Skool Luv Affair contains a lot of fan-favorite songs. I enjoy this album a lot but some of their future projects just overshine this EP. It does have one of their best songs AKA Just One Day which I can talk about all day and one of the greatest outros seen in their discography.
1. Just One Day
2. Outro: Propose
3. Spine Breaker
-----
TOP TEN
-----
10. Love Yourself: Answer (2018)
My least favorite album in the Love Yourself trilogy but still one of their better albums. Loved all the members’ solo songs but they don’t really compare to some other solo songs. Idol had such a good music video and it is probably my favorite from them. One of the upsides to this album is the fact that Euphoria is on it. Overall a good album just some of the songs aren’t completely my taste in music (ex. Seesaw, Love Myself, I’m Fine) yet I still enjoy them.
Top 3 songs:
1. Euphoria
2. Just Dance
3. Epiphany

-----
9. Love Yourself: Her (2017)
The first installment in their Love Yourself series, Love Yourself: Her was BTS’s step into greatness. I remember the excitement for this album after BTS gained some popularity from YNWA. When DNA hit 10 million, ARMYs across the world celebrated with joy. This album contains feel-good songs with many pop elements infused.
Of course, there are hip-hop songs in it as well which ties the album together nicely. The vocal line shines in this piece with Jimin’s solo and dimple. Overall, this album was a very important landmark to solidify BTS as a powerhouse that wasn’t going to leave anytime soon.
P.S. Her is their best outro
Top 3 songs
1. Outro: Her
2. Go Go
3. DNA

8. The Most Beautiful Moment In Life Pt. 2 (2015)
The second album in their HYYH trilogy and is definitely a stand-out album. This is a time where emo BTS can reminisce on their more grungy songs. They tackled deep subjects on this album which they had not done too much before (Butterfly, Dead Leaves, Whalien 52). There is a dark sound to this whole album that makes it addicting to listen to. You can tell the members tried really hard on this album and they succeeded.
Overall, a solid album worthy of a top 10. The only thing that doesn’t make it higher personally is that I do not listen to these songs as often as other albums.
Top 3 songs:
1. Ma City
2. Dead Leaves
3. Whalien 52

7. You Never Walk Alone (2017)
This album is very sentimental to me as it was the first album BTS released after I became a fan. Fond memories were formed out of this album that words cannot describe the gratitude I feel. Spring Day is the queen of BTS songs and it is very deserving. This album contains emotionally moving songs from longing to motivation to companionship, BTS was able to fit multiple moods into only 4 songs. Their artistry shines through this album while having addicting hooks that latch onto audiences. It’s one of their best.
Top 3 songs:
1. Outro: Wings
2. Spring Day
3. Not Today
Tumblr media
-----
6. The Most Beautiful Moment In Life: Young Forever (2016)
Despite only adding 3 songs to their discography, Young Forever shaped BTS’s sound. The EDM infectious sound of Save Me makes it a song that most everyone can listen to. The electronic almost dubstep instrumentals in Fire made for an amazing title track that every new BTS listener should hear. Then finally the sentimental laid back song called Epilogue: Young Forever will stay in the hearts of millions of ARMYs across the world.
These three songs set up what was to be done next in BTS’s career and leave a very strong impression.
Top 3 songs (or I guess the order I like them):
1. Save Me
2. Fire
3. Epilogue: Young Forever

TOP FIVE
-----
5. The Most Beautiful Moment In Life Pt. 1 (2015)
My personal favorite in the HYYH series. If I had to describe this album in one word it would be dramatic. This album pushed BTS onto the scene in Kpop quickly with I Need U being their first win on a music show almost 2 years after debut. The addicting beats of Dope, Converse High, and Boyz With Fun are complemented by emotional ballad pieces such as Love Is Not Over, Hold Me Tight, and Move (one of their best songs).
This album represents a moment in time where BTS was changing from their Hip Hop image into a well-rounded group that can do multiple genres.
Top 3 songs:
1. Move
2. Converse High
3. Outro: Love Is Not Over
Tumblr media
-----
4. Dark & Wild
The very first studio album from BTS, Dark & Wild is the essence of BTS’s hip-hop, R&B sound they debuted with. D&W is an album that has no skips whatsoever.
The more R&B-driven songs are something you have to go back to more than once (Rain, Outro, Let Me Know), while the Hip-Hop/Rap songs leave a great impression of what BTS’s rap line can do (Cypher 3, Hip Hop Phile, Intro: What Am I To You?). This album has some of their most hyped-up songs (2nd Grade, War of Hormone, Cypher) to some of their criminally underrated (Embarrassed, Could You Turn Off Your Cell Phone, Look Here). Even the interlude on this album is great.
A definite highlight in their career and they had only been on the scene for a year.
Top 3 songs:
1. Outro: Do You Think It Makes Sense?
2. Hip Hop Phile
3. Rain

-----
TOP THREE (aka where I write too much)
-----
3. Wings (2016)
Where. To. Even. Begin.
This album is the definition of a masterpiece. Wings are the second studio album in BTS’s career and deserves to be heard by those all over the world. This album is arguably their magnum opus. If TMBMIL Pt. 1 was dramatic, Wings is a whole opera.
The album starts off with Hoseok’s first intro and is one of BTS’s best solo songs. This song sets the tone for the whole album with elegant instruments placed under hard beats accompanied by Hoseok’s excellent rapping. Then we move smoothly into Blood, Sweat, and Tears which further expands on the gracefulness of this album with a stunning music video to go along with it. After the title track, the album goes into each member’s solo song. Each solo tackles a different subject that has importance to the members. Jimin’s song Lie is about being consumed by a lie you tell yourself and battling with your true self, First Love (my personal favorite solo lyrically on this album) from Yoongi is about his love for the piano he grew up with, and Jin’s performance on Awake is a constant fight between not believing your good enough but still trying anyways, just to name a few. After the solos, we experience some upbeat songs the BTS usually puts out like Cypher pt. 4 and Lost.
To summarize the huge paragraph just written, Wings was a landmark album created by BTS that fully shows what they are capable of while delivering amazing performances and visuals. This album is an emotional rollercoaster meant to captivate those who listen. Obviously, BTS has improved in terms of production, vocals, rap, lyricism, and things of the such, but it’s hard to deny that this is one of their greatest.
Top 3 songs:
1. 21st Century Girls
2. MAMA
3. Awake

2. Map Of The Soul: 7 (2020)
Their 7th-anniversary gift, MOTS 7 is a work of art. This is what I think of when the word BTS comes to mind. Introspective songs about one’s self and who you are. This album is a combination of what makes BTS great. Hype/over-the-top songs, laid-back acoustic songs, outstanding vocals, flexible raps, and most importantly, songs with meaning. Criticisms of this album are completely valid (please think whatever you want to), but personally this album is a top-tier amalgamation of BTS and their purpose.
The moodiness from previous albums like Love Yourself: Tear and TMBMIL Pt. 2 is carried over with Black Swan, Louder Than Bombs, and Shadow. There are vocal talents shining in Jin’s and Taehyung’s solo songs. You get the classic “why is this bear sensual but the lyrics are depressing” songs with Filter and My Time. Then obviously the classic rap song with *cough* Cypher Pt. 5 *cough* UGH! and the iconic vocal song with Zero O’Clock (which I thought was going to be a diss on ARMYs). The duo songs on this album are adorable with VMin and Namgi sharing their love for each other in their respectable (pun intended) pieces. The Eternal is like Young Forever where ARMYs are never going to forget such a song. We haven’t even talked about ON! (Side note: ON is their best title track and I will argue with anyone who disagrees). The only disgrace to this album is the SIA feature.
Altogether, this album got me and I’m sure thousands of others through quarantine. Hopefully, we’ll get to see these songs in concert one day as well. One of BTS’s best and one of the best albums to exist ever.
Top 3 songs:
1. ON
2. Outro: Ego
3. Interlude: Shadow
P.S. I need them to release an official version of Black Swan Orchestral Version that song is a masterpiece.

1. Love Yourself: Tear (2018)
Wow, we’re finally here.
My personal favorite BTS album. Where does one even start when talking about Love Yourself: Tear? Welp, on May 18, 2018, BTS released their anticipated sequel and the second part to the Love Yourself series. Life has never been the same since.
Words don’t begin to describe the excellence of this album. Singularity starts the album off with the all too well-known “why is this beat sensual but the lyrics are depressing” song. Fake Love hits us with the emo-esque vocals and dark beat. The Truth Untold is the vocal line at their best. Paradise and Love Maze (both HEAVILY underrated songs and are some of BTS’s best) have infectious tones that leave listeners hooked. Magic Shop gives ARMYs hope and appreciation towards the members. Airplane Pt. 2 and Anpanman display that BTS can still make light-hearted fun songs in an overall dark album. Outro: Tear is one of the rap line’s best songs with one of Hobi’s best verses. 134340 is that song. The only bad song on this album is So What but even then people say it sounds a lot better in concert than in the studio version.
To put it simply, while it might not be a complete fan favorite and some might be mad at my choice, Love Yourself: Tear from first listen has been addicting and enticing. Listeners can tell BTS put in work to make this album and personally I couldn’t ask for more. I pray for the day we get Love Yourself: Tear-ish album from BTS again. No one can look me in the eyes and say that this is their worst project. It’s just too good.
Top 3 songs:
1. 134340 (Pluto)
2. Love Maze
3. Anpanman

Billboard Hot 100 History
The billboard Hot 100 was introduced in August 1958 and originally ranked songs by how popular they were in the United States (mainly through radio play).
Although, they started ranking by sales around 1991. Since then, there has been a competition to become #1.
The first person to debut on the Hot 100 was Michael Jackson with You Are Not Alone on September 2, 1995.
Currently, BTS's Butter is sitting at number 1 for around 7 weeks and was just replaced by Permission To Dance.
