Today is the birthday of the man I discovered 3 years ago. Yes, I am a little late, but better late than never. He is still one of the best movie stars there ever was for me. Happy birthday Errol Flynn.

Gregory Peck
After seeing Breakfast At Tiffany's I wanted to see Audrey Hepburn's other famous movie too. So Roman Holiday it was. The start was good and funny, but I was not prepared for what was coming next.
I saw a gorgeous man walking home, late at night in the middle of Rome. He was tall, handsome, well dressed and I haven't even heard his voice yet. What a man. Princess Ann did not realize what a handsom man she was about to meet. Welcome Gregory Peck, into my heart.
Breathless I saw a romance blossom between Ann and Joe. How they sat at a sidewalk café, how they drove through Rome on a Vespa and how they danced under the stars. The best thing was visiting "The Mouth Of Truth". The joke Gregory played on Audrey was priceless and had me laughing for days. Even now I have a smile on my face thinking about this wonderful scene.
Ofcourse I wanted to see more of Gregory, so To Kill A Mockingbird was the next movie I saw. And I was in for a treat. Another great movie. And a well deserved Academy Award for Gregory. I only discovered him a few weeks ago, but a favorite he is for sure.

Audrey Hepburn
After seeing Gone With The Wind I was ready to see more classic movies. The next one was Breakfast At Tiffany's. I was in for another treat as Audrey Hepburn stepped out of the taxi and into my heart. I knew about her, seeing her on TV for Unicef many times when I was younger. For me no other than Audrey could play Holly Golightly.
Ofcourse I knew about Audrey as I saw her on TV in interviews and her work for Unicef. I even have an umbrella with photo's of Holly Golighty and I see her photo's everywhere. She became one of my favorite actresses. I write a review of the movie in another blog

Clark Gable
I wanted to see an old movie and my mother had a DVD of Gone With The Wind. So I took it home and on a rainy day I popped it into my DVD player. I was in for a treat. A beautiful movie. I loved what I saw and then I saw him. He was watching Scarlett going up the stairs at Twelve Oaks. His smile made my knees buckle. I was so happy that I was seated, I am sure I would have lost my footing. Who was this man with the wavy dark hair and mustache. Clark Gable, a name I heard before, but never payed attention to. I knew for sure I have been born in the wrong age. First Errol Flynn, now Clark Gable. They don't make them like that anymore.

3 years ago I discovered Errol Flynn through a friend of mine. He played Errol in a TV series in the 90s. I found it on Youtube and downloaded it. I am glad I did as it is no longer on Youtube. I watched it and got curious about the real Errol. So I bought a boxset with 4 movies. The first movie I saw was The Adventures of Robin Hood.
I was in for a treat. Errol leaped onto the screen and into my heart. It was a great movie. It might be an old one, but I loved it. Basil Rathbone was a great evil Sir Guy of Gisbourne, Claude Rains a cunning Prince John, Eugene Pallette a very funny Friar Tuck (I love the scene in which Robin steals his fish), Herbert Mundin and Una O'Connor are a great couple as Much and Bess. Olivia DeHavilland an outstanding Maid Marian. I thoroughly enjoyed this movie.
