worms are actually epic

why?

They can breathe underwater due to a slow metabolism and the fact they breathe through their skin

WORMS CAN ACTUALLY FORM CLUSTERS THAT COMMUNICATE WITH A HIVE MIND IN HIGH DENSITIES

They can regenerate lost segments of their body AND the number of segments in a worms body tells you how old it is (like rings of a tree)

Some worm species can CLONE THEMSELVES. It’s called parthenogeneses and is not currently very well understood 

They have five ‘hearts’ (aka five pairs of aortic valves)

Without worms, soil density would increase to the point where trees could not take up water :(

Worms demonstrate signs of ageing – they slow down and develop wrinkles. However, if you tweak a worm’s gene, you can put off the signs of ageing and make the worms live two or three times longer than other worms. Humans have the same ageing genes so it may be possible, eventually, to tweak it in humans too.

The largest ever worm found was 22 feet long (nearly seven meters )

There is a thing known as worm charming and it was used to charm worms from the ground for fish bait. It’s also a competitive sport.

they are an important part the ecosystem and they deserve more recognition!
