Sadly I must share my mom passed away unexpectedly this week leaving us heartbroken and without our anchor. We’re planning a remembrance celebration for next Wednesday January 18th at Knox Presbyterian Church in St Thomas. She has left a large empty space in my life, much bigger than I expected, which feels more bearable with everyone’s loving wishes and hugs. The success of our holiday sponsorship program for local at-risk youth is due to all our helpers and donors. And this year's efforts were generously supported by the amazing St Thomas Railway City Rotary, Harvest Hands and our good friend Asviny. Big thanks are also extended to those who provided individual sponsorships to those youth who could use some additional support and attention. Our goal is always to show youth (our future leaders, builders, parents, mentors, neighbours etc.) that our community is invested in their surviving and thriving. I am one of a group of holiday elves who prepare gifts for youth in our community who otherwise may have very little for the holidays. A part of this gift is some "from the home" baking. We started planning in early November and by time we assembled the tins of goodies, we had received over 75 dozen cookies from approximately 25 bakers, all to be assorted and lovingly packed into 65 donated tins.
