When you try to start playing sims again but you're a UNIX based OS user and you forget that downloading a ton of shit onto a Windows PC just willy nilly is a BAD IDEA
So you have to figure out *(more like your windows programming background bf does and you help when he gets frustrated)* how to make a boot key and completely clean reinstall windows... Like, I'm not SURE it was anything from the mods, but I did go from ridiculously good performance on anything I did to... bad. on anything. Right after transferring 100+ gb of CC from my old external drive from my mac and downloading a handful of new things and updates on script mods. So yeah I need help, fml lol

How To: Auto Height for Shoes
Tumblr media
Haiii! As promised, here is the tutorial to make it so your custom shoes no longer require a shoe slider!
Thank you to the bestie who took the time to pick through Madlen's package file to figure out how it worked. And of course, thank you to Madlen who did the majority of the work figuring out how to make this possible in the first place!
♥ Tut below cut ♥
~~~
Set Up Your Blend File:
We're going to add a plane that will act as the mesh for the SlotRay which will allow for you to adjust the height of your shoes!
Open your blend file that contains the shoes your wish to adjust. In the 3D View, press Shift + S and in the menu, select “Cursor to Center” In the 3D View, press Shift + A and in the menu, hover over “Mesh” then add a plane.
Now size this plane down as small as you can get it. You don’t want this plane visible in game.
Double check to make sure the plane has not moved from the center!! Your sim won't be centered in game if it has! If you see that it's moved:
Press "Shift + S" and click "Cursor to Center".
Then Select your plane and press "Ctrl + Shift + Alt + C", click "Origin to 3D Cursor".
Press "Ctrl + Shift + Alt + C" again and click "Geometry to Origin".
Navigate to the “Object data” tab and under “UV Maps” add a new one then name it “uv_0”.
Next, navigate to the “Scene” tab and under “S4Studio CAS Tools” set the cut number.
Depending on how many cuts your shoes have, you’ll want to adjust this number. For example, if your shoe has 3 cuts (0000, 0001, 0002) then this plane would have a cut number of 0003. Since my boots only have one cut, I will put the number as 0001. Now select your shoes and enter Edit mode. Select a face/vertice/edge on the very bottom of your shoes. Look to the panel on the left side of the screen (if it’s not open, press “N”). Under “Transform”, note down the number next to “Z” After that, save your blend file under another name so you can distinguish which is which. I’ll name mine “Boots_3_Height Cut”
youtube
~~~
Add a New Cut to your Package File:
We're going to add an additional cut in your package file for the new plane!
Open Sims 4 Studio, make a new package file for your shoes and import them. Go to the Warehouse tab and select your LOD 0, it will be the geometry with the largest file size. Sometimes you have to close then reopen the package to see the geometry. Duplicate this geometry and in the box that pops up, change the last character of the “Group”. It can be any number or letter as long as it’s not the same as the duplicated geometry. On the duplicated geometry, note down the Group, Instance & Type values. Find the “Region Map” and next to “Entries” click “Edit Items”. Add a new entry and in the “Layer” box, type the number you used for your cut. Since I used the cut number 0001, I will type 1. Keep the “Region Type” as “Base” and move to “Models” then click “Edit Items”. Add a new Model entry and paste the Group, Instance & Type values you noted down before. Save and close each box. Find your “CAS Part”, this is your swatch.
If you have additional swatches, it is a good idea to remove them and add them back once you are finished with this process.
Scroll down until you find the “Lods”.
Click “Level: 0” and next to "LOD Models", click “Edit Items”. Add a new entry and paste the Group, Instance & Type values again. Save & close each window and return to the Warehouse.
youtube
~~~
Adjusting SlotRays:
We are now going to edit the SlotRays for the new cut which will adjust the height of the sim for your shoes!
Return to the new duplicated Geometry and in the “Data” tab, find the “SlotRay Intersections” and click “Edit Items”. Add a new entry and find the “OffsetFromIntersectionsOs” box.
You'll want to change ONLY the middle coordinate number. That will be the height of the sim.
You want to take the “Z” coordinate that you noted down from blender and replace middle coordinate number.  If the number you wrote down is negative (i.e -0.01234) make it positive (i.e 0.01234).
In the “SlotHash” box, change the value from “00000000” to “FEAE6981”. This is the hash for the b__ROOT__ bone in the Sim's Rig.
Save and close the dialogs then return to the warehouse. Next, reimport your mesh and save your package file. You can now test your shoes in game!
youtube
Please keep in mind:
You have to do this for every LOD of your mesh
You can freely replace the mesh of your shoes and adjust the height since the cut with the plane has the SlotRay data
Animations may be off since EA hasn't made the game to support taller sims
CAS windows may move slightly if your sim is using poses/animations where they are leaning to the side. This won't affect gameplay
I recommend using Helgatisha's Stand Still in CAS mod to make sure your sim is absolutely centered
Hope this helped :)
Ok. Deep breath. I finished it! I managed to (after a ton of research and note-taking) set up 10 full generational challenges since my Mini 5 Gen version went over so well with everyone. Please use #VaultTecChallenge if you take it on! 👽 Once again... just to be thorough... Mods, Downloads and relevant cc below the cut.
-MODS- You need some kind of homeschool mod. The one I found was: Better Schools: Online Schooling by KawaiiStacie A mod that allows your children to attend school via computer. -BUILDS- If you don’t want to build your own vault, there are some vaults on the gallery that could easily be gently modified for this challenge. I looked up some builds, but I’m sure there are many more out there. If you build a vault and upload it to the gallery, tag it with#VaultTecChallengeso others doing the challenge can find it! >>Vault 148 by ChillyAcademic- This is by far the most detailed and realistic vault I have found on the gallery thus far. >>Fallout Shelter 14A by Hero_E92- A really good-sized vault that probably doesn’t need a ton of adjustment. >>Bunker by Mariedcause- A really great build that could work for this challenge very quickly. >>User RistoTCThas a set of modular vault rooms built along with a base lot to attach them to. Check their gallery to see them all. >> Fallout Bunker by erinmeakin- This is a large vault that would likely need some adjustment, but many facilities are already done for you.
-CC- There is a TON of Fallout cc out there to make your gameplay more true to the source material. I will try to list a lot here just to get you started. 👽
Kicking off this decade in fashion is our heir Zelda Darlington. She’s seen here just after her 18th birthday in 1919 through the early years of the 1920s. This covers her wardrobe during her last year in Henford and her first years in New Orleans.
Zelda’s wardrobe purposefully takes influence from two different worlds. The majority of her clothes still lean heavily into the mid to late 1910s; her silhouette is especially rooted in this era, with its tight but low-slung waist, tapered ankle length bottoms, and double hoop skirts.
This does makes sense as Zelda would still be wearing her clothes from this period, but it is also indicative of the more conservative, shy aspect of Zelda’s character. Even as she comes to the new world, it is difficult for her to leave her family and her past behind her.
However, we are beginning to see some evolution in her style. This is most apparent in her second going out look and her party dress (which she wears to perform at the jazz club). The former is meant to be one of Josephine’s old dresses, and it indiciates a shift in shiloutte which Zelda is just beginning to experiment with. The latter, with its nipped waistline and double hoop skirt, actually fits quite well into Zelda’s more conservative wardrobe. However, she’s paired it with a circlet and lace gloves, which show her beginning to blossom into the jazz singer that she has somehow become.
“If a tree falls in a forest, but there is no trunk, neither marks on the grass, was there even a tree?”
Yes I am back with one more specific-ass cc pack nobody understands… Yet! This was supposed to be the part two of my MAGIC Pack, which consists of hairtyles for male framed sims, but I got carried on while writing my book, halloween was next, so I thought… “Why not?”
Here’s a pack with the 9 planned hairstyles + 7 clothing pieces + my Halloween gift for you! 1 extra hairstyle, 2 extra versions of the clothing pieces and a mask, for your evil purposes, it being destroying my patience or not.
BIIIIIIIIG ENORMOUS THANK YOU for @pandorassims4cc who made the header poses for me ♥ I was going nuts trying to find something like that! Thank you for your ABSOLUTE KINDNESS ♥♥♥
PLEASE check the cc items bellow the cut for more details ♥ Also the Hair 360º
do u support early access ?
short answer: as a concept? I'm ambivalent. the way it works right now? I'm not really satisfied.
long answer: I don't see a problem with charging people $1-3 for, say, the chance to beta test your WIPS, or help name it/have a piece or two named after you.
and I could even see an argument being made for charging that or a couple bucks more for "sending CC requests" where a patron requests that a creator make a specific piece of CC in a specific style, (& like a whole entire set of CC would naturally be a little pricier than just one piece). hell, you could even have a special "birthday gift" type package in the style of @/plumbobteasociety.
idk I guess I'm mainly disappointed by the lack of patron-focused benefits. it seems like a lot of early access bloggers have an attitude of "I'm making this CC either way and I want your money but I don't trust you or your feedback." why not welcome the opportunity to be more creative and interact more with the community instead of just charging people for the privilege of downloading your stuff two weeks earlier?
I'm well aware that my ideas probably haven't even occurred to some people, which is why I'm taking this opportunity to bring them up.
if we use patreon benefits like these (paired with 100% free access to final product, fully tested CC) to distinguish CC creators who care about the simming community from those who don't, maybe simblr will start to feel as close knit as it used to.
