This is Arthur and Nico! Our origin is the equivalent of Tandem Philip and Collie, and they also have a common name for both "Arnica". As it was in the au, the old man here is possessed by child-god, and together they go to Nico’s home to his older brothers and sisters to help Arthur deal with his troubles with the head.

Arnica will have their own big comic story, but so far we’ve decided to do a crossover with these babies here >:3

You guys remember that post about people not understanding figurative language in books and criticizing it in a way that is absurd because of that misunderstanding/ignorance, to which a bunch of people responded that they couldn’t understand figurative descriptions because they had like aphantasia or just had trouble imagining things? What’s going on there ?

It’s a bit disheartening that a post about how descriptions aren’t supposed to be literal gets the response “some of us can’t imagine things vividly” when the point is that these are not literal things to imagine, they’re supposed to invoke certain emotions or recall things familiar to you or something. It’s literally an abstraction. Her neck was not literally a white pillar. It just means her neck was really white and regal and clear and smooth. like a marble pillar.

Maybe this too mean spirited and unproductive and bitchy of me to say, but do you think maybe the same people who can’t understand figurative language also don’t read posts they’re responding to?

It’s the lack of curiosity that gets me. If you don’t understand what “figurative language” means you can easily google it before drafting a response that would make no sense if you understood those words.

And like here’s the thing- I’m one of those people whose brains automatically renders a lot of figurative language in a literal way that can sometimes interrupt the story for me. But that’s a my brain thing not a writing thing. It never occurred to me to critique the writing over it because I knew what they were getting at with the descriptions.

Why am I posting about this it doesn’t matter and I have work in 3 hours fuckkk
