I won this deck, The Tarot Apokalypsis, in a contest last month and it finally arrived in the mail. This is an absolutely beautiful tarot deck. I especially love how the cups are the Eleusinian Mysteries but also how the other suits represent other mythologies such as Hindu mythology being reflected in the pentacles, Egyptian mythology in the wands, Norse in the swords, and a mix including some Hebrew mythology as well as others in the major arcana. Each card is beautifully designed and really packed with symbolism that I can't wait to unravel. Just wanted to share something I've been working on for the past week or so in my free time. I'm building a website using #react and #typescript. Of course, all I've done so far is build a few components but I'm already happy with the results especially since I don't code day to day anymore in my full time job. One component draws a random #tarot card with more data about it in the back end. I'm planning on adding in more spread options. Then, I plan to build up as big of a data set as possible with the goal of feeding that into a #machinelearning algorithm so that a bot can do more advanced readings for folks. I've also built a component that takes in a birthdate and time. There's a field to get the location that uses Google Places and Google's Geocode APIs to accurately get the latitude and longitude. From there, I use a few libraries I found to generate and graph out a birth chart. I'm currently learning to read birth charts and am using this to learn more as I go. Overall, this doesn't look pretty yet and obviously isn't even close to done but I wanted to preview what I've been working on with all of you. This is our evil eye that we keep hanging in the house for protection. I also have a couple of beads with the evil eye on my pronoun necklace that @barbaradoingstuff made. In Greek, we call it the μάτι, which just means the eye. According to legend, people can cast a curse through a malevolent glare. This symbol originated in Ancient Greece as a means of protection from such a curse. People will often cast this curse when they’re jealous of someone and want them to fail. In a sense, your negative energy can manifest in harm to another person. I love the symbol of the evil eye for what it represents: protection from those who look at you with envy, judgment, or hatred. In a sense, it is a shield from negative energy harnessing the negativity and repelling it back to the sender.  If one is truly introspective, they’ll also see the evil eye as a reminder not to look negatively on others. Jealousy and hatred of any kind can not only harm others but ourselves. The negative energy that we dispel can easily be returned against us so we should ensure that we only release positive energy out into the universe. It’s as Jesus Christ said (though conveniently ignored by far too many Christians), “Judge not, that ye be not judged. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.
