𝐀 𝐟𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐥, then the slayed monster perishes into threads of ephemeral green-blue. Narrowed pupils wander from this fading being to its executor, the blond’s words met without too much emotion showing on the Deepground Soldier’s mien. Gratitude was definitely absent, and a small frown of his brows betrayed his confusion.

“Since when are SOLDIERs in charge of charitable work as vermin-exterminators?“ Weiss’ tone stays cool, neutral. He leaves out how easily he could’ve taken care of this, giving his inquiry priority. 

        “  ex - soldier,  ”  he corrects.  the buster sword is returned to the soldier grade magnetic harness on his back with maybe a little bit of a flourish.  arms fold themselves casually and cloud regards the other with much of the same indifference.  “  i’m a merc.  ”  

        and,  also similarly,  puzzlement seeps into cloud’s features and he wonders if he hallucinates the subtle glow of his eyes.  he doesn’t recognize him,  though,  so it’s unlikely that they’d been at shinra at the same time.  “  i’ll take any job for the right price.  ”  it’s a bit more forward than cloud would like,  but he can’t deny to even himself that he’s curious.

posts in the wee hours because i’ve been spending my days just.  trying to plat remake finally.  i just got the second round of dresses so i’ll be getting everyone to 50 & maxing out materia.  i’m at 11/12 types for that one intel and i plan on maxing 8 mp up materia for my hard mode run  ...  wish my luck :’)

        cloud is accustomed to stepping into the bar and being met with the sight of denzel waiting at the window or door  ---  the sound of fenrir’s engine is distinct enough in this part of edge that such a rumble hardly belonged to anything else.  but never this late.

        “  denzel ?  ”  more of a murmur.  his voice has never been particularly loud,  not without any added effort for the benefit of those closest to him.  keys and phone are discarded briefly at the bar.  usually,  tifa  ...  ---  she’s probably upset with him.
