You know what being a bumbleby shipper for the past 5 years is like?

Every year we get a scene, nothing grand like a confession or a kiss, but a bit more intimate than a hug. And every year I see posts SCREAMING about it and saying "oh my god Bumbleby is canon! You can't tell me it's not canon look at this"

And every year I wonder. Do these people not realize it? Do they not see how weird it is that we are given JUST ENOUGH to say it's "canon" but not enough so that we still have to argue with people and make big posts with huge paragraphs on why it's canon?

And how come every year you see a scene that makes you go "its canon!!"... didn't you say that last year as well? Wasn't it canon before? Or is it that you don't believe it either?

Every year I wonder. They have the time and resources to develop the bees. Look at the dance scene in v7 (which doesn't exist btw). Yang and Blake separated from their team, hanging out with team FNKI. You can't tell me we wouldn't have gotten some great development from it, you just can't. But where is it? It would've literally took like 3 minutes at most to do it, but why bother when you don't plan to make the ship canon for at least 10 more years? You got the time after all, it's a "slowburn"

And as someone else said, there's a difference between slowburn and crumbs. Where's the "burn" here? Their relationship has been the exact same for the past 2 volumes, the EXACT same. Isn't a slowburn when it develops but slowly? Except that now it hasn't developed at all? And you guys literally proved it yourself by comparing v6 with v8 with the forehead paralels. Like wow we got the same thing as 2 years ago? Such development!

But on the bright side, every year at the end of the volume I get to see posts with "bees will kiss next volume! it will be canon!" and then when that volume comes around and ends they say "oh it's alright they will kiss next volume for sure! This volume wasn't the best moment for them to do it". As if the characters magically decide themselves when to develop or not. As if the writers dont CHOOSE not to develop them and drag it out. And yall keep lying to yourselves. "Its a slowburn" you say but then youre on the edge of your seat and posting "they will kiss" everyday, only to say there was no good opportunity at the end of the day. And when there's a good opportunity? Like v8e10? "Well it makes sense it's a slowburn I'm happy about the crumbs it's better than nothing"

Jesus... have some respect for yourselves, and look at what you post and say, cause clearly not even you believe yourselves when you say "it's a slowburn". And they will keep throwing crumbs for YEARS cause they see that you're happy just like this.

My entry for the 2020 Bumbleby Big Bang! A canon-compliant “what if,” set in Volume 7 and following Yang and Blake as they make the jump into their first date. It’s a long night as they dance around accepting their love for each other, while their friends all reflect on how far they’ve come…and how far they may yet go.

While this is a stand alone piece, I also intentionally wrote parts of it to call back to an older Bumbleby fic of mine. I won’t drop the story name, but if you’ve read it, then maybe this will read as somewhat of a sequel. If you haven’t read it, don’t worry! I specifically made sure this story stands on its own.

As she learns to let go and trust in the people who catch her, she falls in more ways than one when it comes to Yang.

Yang Xiao Long appears to be the only option Blake has left, but there’s something about her inky black hair and ferocious red eyes that seem unnatural on her. Yang is feared by almost everyone, but the more Blake learns about her new wife, the more familiar she becomes.

They also have a looming sense of responsibility to their villages inherited by the nature of their last name. When Yang is set up on ANOTHER blind date by her father, this time with the daughter of two prominent Faunus Equity activists after they give a presentation in Patch, she humors him because it’s not like she’s dating anyone for real any time soon. She isn’t expecting how easily she gets along with Blake, but eventually she recognizes a painful amount of herself in the other person.

Inspiration strikes one day; why not get married? It gets their parents off both their backs, and Blake a free ticket out of Kuo Kuana. Not to mention, free space to explore themself. What’s the worst that could happen? Both of them come to learn that none of Yang’s ideas are ever simple.

Blake has recently moved back in with her parents after a rather violent breakup. Kali insists that she goes along with Ghira to visit a local farm, where she meets Yang, the farmer’s oldest daughter and Patch’s local recluse.

One year, that’s what she had told her parents when she moved in with them. She’d take one year to get back on her feet and then return to the city.

But maybe a certain farmer can convince her that living in the middle of nowhere isn’t so bad after all.

Yang’s one of those people who can catch things that slip through the cracks, help where the law can’t. Sometimes, though, she just has to stir up the hornet’s nest. When she follows a trail of a murder and finds an injured woman, she’s quickly swept up into a desperate attempt to fight against less-than-legal justice. But there’s more to Blake than her situation, and there’s more to the situation than either of them realize.
