Leonard Nimoy as a person exudes such an aura of elegance that trekkies ROUTINELY forget that Spock is the clumsiest motherfucker on that whole damn ship, zero competition. Have we as a nation already forgotten about that time he accidentally alerted the Romulans to the Enterprise's location by tripping and landing on his console?? On the Riviera (1951). An American entertainer impersonates a wealthy aviator and flirts with his lookalike’s neglected wife.
This movie is genuinely delightful. High energy, buoyant, with great costumes and some really, really fun musical numbers. Danny Kaye is particularly great, bouncing between characters, accents and musical genres, he brings his a-game to the film, and terrific chemistry with Gene Tierney and Corinne Calvet. It’s a very enjoyable way to spend 90 minutes. 7.5/10.
#I dare not say it in the tags but I have Lore and History with this movie#you may dm me if curious…
