dp x dc prompt: dead on main au where danny leaves the joker's body on jason's doorstep as a courting gift
in this au, danny lives in the ghost zone full time. (he's also a little unhinged.)
along with the power boost he gained as the king of the infinite realms, danny's status as a half-dead half-alive being makes him develop the peculiar ability of knowing the cause of death of all ghosts and undead he encounters.
he meets jason on a visit to the living realm and falls in love with the revenant at first sight. since his ability lets him catch a glimpse of his crush's death, he decides killing the joker would be the best way to win him over, so he hunts down the clown, unalives him and wraps his dead body with a nice green bow and sends it to jason via portal along with a bouquet of asphodels.
cue the bat clan freaking out over the unknown entity who just gifted a corpse to their undead family member with no explanation whatsover.
(danny probably should have remembered to leave a note.)
jason is both creeped out and charmed.

"If You Want My Husband, You're Gonna Have to F#cking Kill Me."
So, Dead on Main is the best, right?
So, Jason and Danny are secretly married. It's was an accident; somehow, those two managed to do a ghost courting ritual and acceptance without realizing it--Danny's a halfa, Jason is a remnant, neither one was informed that ghost marriage was thing. The two go on an adventure in the Ghost Zone to disolve the marriage, but over the course of the journey, surprise! The two develop feelings and decide that they prefer being married. Maybe it gives them a power up, lets them know how the other is doing/feeling? It's nice, to have someone who's always there for you, that's all their saying.
Obviously, they don't tell anyone. Or at least, no one knows they're still married.
fortunately, it comes in handy. Red Hood, Red Robin, and Stabby Robin got captured by a pissed Black Mask or maybe the League of Assassins... I'll go League, bc less guns. Jason's injured, about to be killed, when Danny bursts through the door, says the title line, and starts ripping through the goons.
he's so pissed, he doesn't even transform, he's using entirely his parents weapons and he's good with them. (no murder Danny, sorry. But he'll probably get covered in other people's blood thanks to the concussive effects of his parents weapons on humans.)

What if we combine the concept of Danny being Bruce’s bio kid, and the concept that Danny can’t be the ghost king just yet, so he’s the prince and someone else has to be the official regent? Because that then opens up the possibility of Bruce randomly being summoned every time someone tries to summon the Ghost King because as far as the realm is concerned he is Danny’s parent, and they’re asking for the ghost King, not the ghost Queen.
This could lead to scenarios like:
-Cultists trying to summon the ghost king only to summon Batman.
-Cultists trying to summon the ghost king only to summon Adoptions Georg Himbo Bruce Wayne
-Batman being in the middle of a meeting at the watchtower only to suddenly be whisked away to a slumber party full of teenagers who didn’t expect this to work, and are 100% sure they didn’t do it right because how the fuck else would they get Batman?.
-Bruce Wayne getting yoinked all magic-like in the middle of his own gala, only to show up two days later with torn clothes somewhere wildly far away.
-Ra’s and Talia fairly reasonably assuming that Damian is the prince of the afterlife because Talia fucked the ghost king, and Ra’s being mad that he had no idea about any of this. -Bruce having a fucking aneurysm because he can’t figure out why the fuck all these attempts to summon the ghost king end up summoning him, because he can’t remember doing a single thing that would earn him such a title.
-The rest of the batfamily desperately trying to figure out when the hell Bruce became the ghost king.
-Alfred preparing a post-summoning kit/routine because sometimes Bruce gets sent back, and is both very disoriented and definitely not allowed to go on/finish patrol afterward.
-Finding out he has a son he didn’t know about because a ghost came up to him and told him to get his feral child under control.

Heir of a Tyrant
Upon discovering that Danny was the rightful inheritor of both the Crown of Fire and the Ring of Rage, Vlad executed a de-aging scheme by instructing Skulker to poison and attack Danny. The poison transformed Danny into a child, rendering him too young to claim the throne. As an older Halfa, Vlad intended to seize the position of Proxy and rule the zone with Danny as his ward. Jazz, however, could not allow this to happen and fled Amity Park with her newly-turned toddler brother. As Jazz attempted to flee, she landed in various cities, yet Vlad's followers persisted in their pursuit. Fortunately, even though the heroes typically disregarded Amity Park, they were now determined to safeguard them. From Wonder Woman and Superman to the Flash and even the Green Arrow and Black Canary, along with Martian Manhunter, they all came to their aid. It was heartwarming to see how ecstatic little Baby Danny was whenever an alien or space hero appeared, while he was utterly uninterested when a mundane hero was around. Green Lantern won him over by mentioning that he was a Space Police officer and part of the Airforce. Danny found nothing wrong with this Space is Space! Jazz believed that Wonder Woman was somewhere in the middle since Danny liked her but not as much as the Alien Heroes. Nonetheless, he did not detest her or find her dull. Jazz believes it might have something to do with Pandora. In a meeting of the Justice League, the heroes gathered to discuss recent events they had encountered. To their surprise, each of them had encountered a green monster that they had to fight. The alien heroes in attendance spoke about how cute the toddler was that they had seen, as well as his red-haired caretaker. This caught the attention of Wonder Woman, Superman, Green Arrow, Black Canary, and Martian Manhunter, who were surprised to hear about the others' encounters. Batman spoke up and asked why the monster was hunting the toddler and the babysitter. Shazam explained that they were beings from the Infinity Realm, and that he had heard about this place from the Gods. However, he suggested that John Constantine might know more. When John Constantine confirmed what Shazam had said, the group turned their attention to the captured Vulture, hoping to get some answers. They learned that the toddler was actually the heir of Pariah Dark Throne, and that the Ghost had been sent to capture him and bring him to their boss. Their boss wanted to take the toddler's crown and control the Realm for himself, by making himself Danny's guardian.
As they learned by Shazam, Zatanna and John's shocked faces, Pariah was a Evil Dark Tyrant that was sealed by Ancient for a good Reason too. And someone who wants to take his place would be the same, the most important thing at the moment would be to find the duo and protect them, and make sure that the Boy will not grow up to be a Tyrant or be used to take control of armies and realms.
All the Planning the Justice League and Justice League Dark did for the weeks, was to be kicked out as Bruce saw the tiny toddler Black Haired blue eyed toddler and just changed the whole plan to just adopt the Duo.

My fave dc x dp trope is Danny treats all his everything like normal and doesn't try to hide it, but is shit at explaining, and it drives BatFam up the wall.
"Yeah, I'm just trying to enjoy life. I've only got 40 years before I gotta go be king full time, ya know?"
Tim: franticaly searches for which countries still have monarchies
"I mean, I never doubted that my parents loved me. It's just nice that they aren't trying to dissect me anymore."
Bruce: Alfred! Call the man!
"Yeah, I need to drink a cup a day to stay healthy."
Jason: gibbering
"Huh? No, I'm not suicidal. I just like watching the stars. I'd like to get closer, but I didn't want to get Batman on my tail... oh... could you maybe... not tell him I said that?"
Steph: giggling
"Oh, you like to hang out here too? Cool. he's my fave gargoyle. A good listener, you know?"
Dick: *blink* Right. Can never have too many good listeners... holy fuck, have you guys seen the flying adoption bait?!?!
"Oh, you're Signal aren't you? Sorry, I'll try to turn it down."
Signal: "MY EYES!!!"

So.
Jazz, Danny, and Elle move to Gotham for school. Jazz and Danny both at Gotham University while Elle decides she wants to go to high school.
Elle meets Damian and Jon and they just click. Flash forward a little and Elle is kinda crushing on Damian and Damian is trying to figure out what these feelings are toward his new friend.
The teen awkwardness is peak and the opportunity for cringe is plentiful.
Insert families’ perspective here.
The Bats are suspicious why Damian is coming home late from school sometimes and why he’s acting weird. It’s Dick that gets it out of him first of course and encourages him to bring Elle over sometimes instead of always going over to her apartment. Just-
“Father, may I bring someone over after school?”
“Damian, you don’t have to ask if Jon can come over.”
“He’ll be coming as well.”
Bruce actually looking up from whatever he was working on.
“You’ve made a new friend? Someone other than Jon?”
“That is correct.”
“Who is it?” Bruce asks after some silence.
“Her name is Elle Nightingale. She is in three of my classes.”
Bruce blinks.
“‘She’?”
“Yes. Elle is a girl, obviously. I didn’t realize you were going senile in your old age.”
Cue mass teasing from all of his siblings and even from Bruce about having a crush, especially when they see how he acts around her when she visits with Jon.
They predictably will do a background check on the girl and her family, immediately raising questions. Why was she homeschooled before 10th grade? Why does the eldest sister have custody? Why did they change their last name and move halfway across the country?
Then there are the Nightingales.
When Jazz easily sees the little blushes and the side-eyed glances, she sits Elle down for The Talk much to the horror of the teenager. Other than some supervision, she just gives them small encouraging smiles every once in a while, making them blush even more.
Danny on the other hand is between teasing his little sister and laughing at the young love, and going into protective brother mode and giving Damian subtle threats if he ever hurts his baby sister. He’s actually pretty okay with Damian (the kid seems too old fashioned to pressure Elle anyway) and they surprisingly bond over the most random things like dogs, finding new vegetarian recipes, and different mechanics or weapons Danny tinkers with in his free time.
I just think it would be super cute and funny. Especially when the families meet and it’s kinda chaos.

What is instead if making the deal while pharia is in charge, they attempt to make it while dannys already been kings for centuries
So ra al ghul wanted better standing in the infinite realms and get access to better Lazarus pit water
So what dose he do?
He offers his grandson as a bride... and if the king dosent want a bride it'll be an offering none the less
So the LOA kidnap damian and prepare to travel to the infinite realms to try and make a deal with the ghost king
Talia, finding this out, runs to bruce (who has spent the last 3 days without sleep trying to find out where damian is) and explains everything
They call a meeting and explain that Ra is trying to gain standing in the infinite realms by offering damian as a bride, every member looses it, dick tim and jason are all foaming at the mouth and loading up weapons left and right because that is their 12 YEAR OLD BABY BROTHER FUCKERS
So talia is driving with the batfam to get her son back while re-evaluateing her opinion of the batfam because they've gone fucking nuts
.
.
.
1 day later they arrived in the infinite realms and immediately decided to break into phantom keep
Thats where damian is being held and they have no time to loose
When the wall they crashed into cleared, they are met with the sight of damian playing with a glowing green puppy, A white haired being with a flaming crown talking to a tied up Ra al ghul and a living armor stand with a flaming sword watching over damian
Dick, still foaming at the mouth, walks up and punches Ra in the face, turns to the guy with the crown and says
:look i know they offered you a bride but-
: if you this im accepting this your more crazy then him
The white haired guy points to damian who is still playing with a dog, looks dick in the eyes and said
: that is a child! He. Is. A. Child. And im not a pedo

I like to think that when Jason is baking everyone immediately turncoats and become the bestest sibling™️ ever in the world so he’ll share.
Like Damian is about to do one of his look alive sneak attacks on Jason but everyone tackles him like NO NO NO NO! he’s baking
Dick immediately goes to the book store and buys one of those hardback, guilt classic books as an “impromptu gift for my favorite Jaylad! Oh, what are you baking! Looks great!”
Cass shows him cat videos/pictures as he measures out the ingredients.
Damian goes up to him and watches pretty much everything he does in quiet curiosity before offering a terse compliment and leaving.
Tim orders high quality Dutch process cocoa gives it to him without a word
Duke doesn’t really have to do anything he’s on the premium list with Alfred.
For Bruce seeing his kids genuinely enjoy a hobby is enough.
Steph just openly begs.
Jason is aware of all of these bribes and attempts to get in his good graces but that’s not gonna change the fact that this croquembouche is for his crew.
Good thing he made two.

Room For Adjustment
In their defense, the wording was vague.
“A circle, diameter of five feet, with an asteroid drawn in the center. The astrological symbol at the time of summons should be inscribed at the four corners. Leave room for adjustment.”
It was simple. And they really did need to meet this entity. They had to determine whether or not it was a threat. So they set up the summons in the middle of nowhere, an empty plain in Texas. Nothing was surrounding them, nobody could get hurt if negotiations went poorly. Between Wonder Woman, Captain Marvel, Zatanna and Constantine, they were fairly certain they could handle the singular entity that was summoned.
“Leave room for adjustment.”
Once activated, the circle grew.
It went from five feet in diameter to fifty. The ground began to shake and crack. An eerie green light shot up from between the earth, and two gigantic clawed hands began to pull themselves out. A head of white hair came next, followed by a long, serpentine body. Despite the size of the circle, the being still had to layer it’s tail over itself in order to fit.
Those present had the sudden feeling that they should have brought more magic users.
Who summons me?

Me too Dani 😩
Idk I'm feeling angsty, Danny most definitely is blaming himself for not getting there sooner cause maybe then she wouldn't have had any time to think and come to that conclusion. But really I picture her having felt that way for a while, it's got to be so taxing knowing you're a “failed” clone. Seeing the person you were supposed to be standing in front of you as you crumble because you're biologically unstable, because you were never really meant to be made.
I love her! I don't think those things but gahhh!

Out of Touch Part 4
Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, AO3
TW: Mild gore, mentions of blood, mentions of gun violence
_________________________
Danny was vaguely aware that someone was trying to tuck him in. He’d been fading in and out of consciousness since he’d stopped to rest. At first, he figured he must be dreaming. Nobody tucked him into bed anymore. He was a 16 year old not a toddler. But it was nice that someone cared. He didn’t want to encourage this behavior though so he pretended not notice.
It wasn’t until he heard the crinkling of plastic and the shuffling of cardboard that his sleep-deprived brain registered something was off.
His bed did usually have plastic in it. He wasn’t in his bed. He tried to remember. He was in Gotham. He had been flying toward his apartment. But he was having a hard time holding his ghost form and then-
Oh shit.

Omg! YES yes! This is perfect! This is everything I was thinking. Written beautifully ❤️ Thank you for that!
Dp x Dc Crossover
Danny and Ellie somehow get tangled with Cadmus and frozen for study later. Obviously it comes to the JL’s attention and they all go ‘oh no another clone’. Anyone’s choice of who they think it is or if it’s a collection of people they took DNA from and meshed together to make these two sassy children.
Would be funnier if they came to DC universe by accident and didn’t have time to really learn about it before capture. The result being they have no idea superheroes are a thing and the heroes just thinking ‘these kids were traumatized and held captive, they don’t even know who Superman is!’ and cue another layer of hilarious misunderstanding.
When confronted about the whole clone thing, Danny immediately defends and protects Ellie. Obviously. Then they notice he was not defending himself, to which Danny goes ‘I’m not a clone!’ The heroes look at each other in clear doubt. ‘Oh he was in denial or seriously didn’t know who he was made from. That will make this harder.’
I may have started something though…
They found a discrete laboratory hidden in plan sight, underneath an office building. When researched, they found connections to Cabmus.
Considering the last encounter they had with the organization, they wanted to be prepared. Hence why when the small team noticed Batman walking down the stairs, Superman followed behind with a tight expression.
“Report.”
Red Robin stepped forward.
“Two cryo-stasis containers holding two nearly identical people. The first a male, approximately 13-14 years of age. Stable. The second a female, younger, approximately 10-11 years of age. Also stable, but her stats are lower than the boy’s.”
“What do you know?”
“Virtually nothing,” Connor says casually. “There are no documents left behind, digital or physical, and there are zero labels on these things.”
They arrive toward the back of the basement where the two frozen containers were sitting upright. One unit obviously smaller than the other most likely holding the girl. Batman has to peer down into the larger unit to see the boy’s face. Frost collected on his eyelashes and black hair like a forgotten doll. No movement from either forms, not even breathing.
“So we don’t know who they are made from,” Superman pushes, clearly displeased.
Batman keeps looking at their faces. The curve of their noses, the shape of their jaws, the positioning of their cheekbones. They didn’t look like Connor. No, they reminded him of someone else.
“We suspect hybrids of some sort,” M’gann contributes. “A mixture of different heroes if I had to guess, but there is no way of knowing with our lack of information without waking them up.”
“Can’t you look into their minds?” Clark questions.
M’gann squirms at the directness and Connor steps forward to defend her. Tensions rise.
“No, sir. They are frozen so there is hardly any brain function except to keep them alive. They aren’t even dreaming.”
She looks them over sadly, obviously distraught with not being able to connect to their minds in anyway.
Batman turns to Red Robin, the younger already watching him.
“You see it too, right?”
Batman grunts. Yes, he saw it.
“Is there a way to move them?” Batman brings back the focus.
“The containers are connected to the buildings power and then a back-up generator in case of emergencies. We’d have to switch the power to something mobile and there’s no telling what kind of effect that would have on the kids,” Connor explains, against the idea of moving them.
“It’s six in the evening. Most everyone in the building above as gone home for the day,” Red Robin helpfully adds.
“Evacuate the rest. Then call a medical team.”
“Wait,” Superman interrupts as the three younger heroes jump to do as instructed. “You’re not thinking about waking them up now, are you?”
“You have a better idea?”
Batman doesn’t even look at him as he studies the stats on the old screen connected to the nearest pod. This one holding the boy. He’ll be the first one out seeing as he’s the more stable one.
“They could be dangerous. They could try to attack us.”
“That’s why we’re here,” Batman deadpans. He didn’t state the obvious that they were children who had been frozen for who knows how long. If anything they’ll need reassurance that they were safe, not weapons in their faces as soon as they wake up.
Clark was not happy with his decision, but as long as he didn’t antagonize them Bruce left him alone.
It wasn’t long before they were ready to begin. Three medical personnel stood several yards back behind the heroes. Red Robin begins the defrosting procedure and they have to wait maybe an hour before the door slides open. There is a breath among them as they wait for his eyes to open. Instead they hear a cracking of thin ice and the boy falls forward without the door holding him in place. Connor is the one to catch him before he hits the floor face first.
Superboy turns him to lay him flat on the floor, the boy’s body still stiff with cold. Frost makes his hair and eyelashes brittle. His lips are a faint shade of blue.
“He isn’t breathing,” Connor informs quickly.
One of the medics push forward first, oxygen mask in hand.
“Bring the thermal blankets. We need to get his core temperature up,” the woman urgently instructs.
They get to work quickly in warming up the boy who is too small and fragile. After several minutes of the medics squeezing air into his mouth and rubbing his limbs and chest to get the blood flowing, the boy takes a breath. Then another. He coughs roughly, his throat scratchy, and starts to shiver.
“There we go.”
He whimpers and tries to move his hand, but the action is jerky and unpracticed.
“His eyes,” M’gann informs them, finally able to get some brain activity. “He can’t open his eyes. The ice-“
Connor takes a water bottle the medics brought and poured the room temperature water over his eyes to melt the ice holding them together. The boy jumps in surprise and tries to turn his head away but Connor continues until he can manually wipe away the ice and water from his eyelids.
Blue eyes. The boy has bright sky blue eyes. They aren’t the Krytonian blue, but they were still familiar.
He blinks and squints and looks around, breathing picking up at the people surrounding him and the unfamiliar environment. M’gann, sensing his distress, kneels down and sets a warm hand on his leg.
“It’s okay. No one here will hurt you. You’re safe now.”
He doesn’t relax, but he seems to at least understand her. He studies their uniforms and then her face before his eyes flick to something behind her and they widen. His breath stutters in his chest, making him wheeze out on the exhale.
They look behind the green skinned girl to see the smaller pod still holding the little girl, no change in her status.
The boy reaches out a shaky hand toward it, scraping against the cold concrete in his lack of energy to lift it.
“She’s okay too.”
He opens his mouth to speak, licks his lips, tries again.
“-ou-,” he rasps. His breath hitches and he’s coughing again. They help him onto his side.
“You want us to get her out?” Red Robin interprets.
The boy squints through the tears from the lack of oxygen at the hero. His expression is scrunched in discomfort and worry. As enthusiastic as he can manage, the boy nods.
“Okay, we can do that. You just have to wait, she needs to thaw out, just like what we did with you,” Red Robin explains to the boy.
He nods again in understanding, his eyes glued back to the girl in the pod. He still shivers harshly and his breathing isn’t regular but he’s not panicking and in no shape to attack them, so it seems like they were in the clear with that one.
While the girl is thawing, they get him more comfortable with warm blankets and get him to drink some water for his throat. He still wasn’t moving much except to curl up on his side and breathe on his colorless fingers. Every time he swallowed he cringed like he was drinking acid, so talking was off the table for now.
The boy was fighting sleep by the time the container door slide open. Connor was there and holding her before she could fall like the boy had.
Superboy lays the girl down close to the boy, seeing the pale hand reaching for her. As soon as he backed away the medics were on her to get air in her lungs and warm her body same as they did for the boy.
The boy watches, quietly holding her hand. Siblings it looks like it. Seeing them side by side was startling. They seemed to be clones of each other, one just younger and the opposite gender, but they were the same.
It was concerning as the number of minutes increased and there was no change. She didn’t breathe or move. She looked dead.
“Get the defibrillator,” the medic ordered, urgent.
The boy surprisingly wasn’t panicking, instead he held a hard determination that made some of the heroes curious.
Pushing himself up onto his elbow, he leaned over the girl and started weakly pushing the blankets out of the way. Thinking he was just helping to make the medic’s job easier, M’gann helped until her torso was exposed.
“You need to back away so they-“
She stops when she sees him tug at the girl’s white shirt to get into direct contact with her skin, hand pressed to her chest.
“What are you-?”
He narrows his eyes in concentration.
Red Robin unconsciously takes a step back when the boy’s blue eyes change into a glowing toxic green, illuminating the girl’s face, frost shining in the light. The hand pressed to her chest also starts to glow the same green until it seeps into her skin like she’s absorbing this weird energy. It reminded them of Starfire actually.
The green in his eyes fades as soon as the unknown green energy is lighting up her entire torso just under the skin. He pulls away and looks expectantly at the medic holding the defibrillator. She flinches into moving, setting the machine down and charging it. She’s hesitant to touch the green energy but the boy nods in encouragement, not looking concerned for anything but the girl’s health.
“Clear!”
It takes one shock for the green energy to disperse through her body and cause her to gasp. The girl starts coughing harshly and the boy pulls her to lay on her side facing him. Connor quickly helps the boy to cover her in blankets. The boy goes as far as tucking them around her and taking one of his own blankets to pile on top. He was moving more easily now even if it was sluggish.
M’gann gasps quietly just as the girl starts sobbing, whining when the act of crying hurt her throat. The boy pulls her close, wrapping his arms around her and tucking her under his chin so they could barely see her. They watch as he calmly comforts her until they are both eased into unconsciousness.
Batman give Superman a pointed look as he passes him. Clark doesn’t respond.
“Get them to the Watchtower med bay,” he orders.
It’s Superman who picks up the pile of two children tangled together and wrapped in layers of fabric, nearly throwing them at how light they both weighted. The three younger heroes follow behind, Tim mumbling about “Lazarus pits” and “Jason”, M’gann twisting her fingers in anxiety, and Connor keeping a close eye on the two kids being carried by his original.
It’s unsurprising that it’s Connor who volunteers to say with them when they are settled down in the med bay, still clinging to each other in sleep.

I'm losing my shit imagining full grown Local Feral Raccoon Man Fenton moving into the shitter of Gotham. He just took a look at Batman's 'no metals allowed' rule and thought there wouldn't be many issues to it. He's accidentally moved in right across from Red Hood's most common apartment.
Now Jason Todd has just gotten notified that someone suspicious moved in right across from the hall from one of his more frequent apartments. Oracle did some digging, and he immediately set off a bunch of red flags. The man is late twenties with, like, eight doctorates but no significant job. Came from some hick town that started as some government experiment some years back. An older sister who was a child physiatrist. A disconnect from birth parents, taken in as a ward by some local legend/myth barely mentioned globally. Former godfather is filthy fucking rich. Not in a good way, either.
So when Jason catches his first glance at the man, it immediately pings him that something is just overall wrong with him. He's average height, around five seven or eight. He looks taller, given the fact that he's thin. Skin and bones, hasn't eaten in a week kind of thin. His hair is fluffy, shaven on the sides but not the back. His hair poofs up, giving him odd horns. His skin is tan, coated in freckles, something that definitely wasn't something you saw in Gotham. He always had a brown rat somewhere on him too, which made Jason really confused the first time he'd seen it.
The way he dressed? Screamed for Jason to punch him in the face. He wore baggy black cargo pants, with a loose band shirt with cut out sleeves. His boots had inch-tall platforms but he walked with hardly any sound. He always wore long fingerless gloves, always black. What really got Jason? Was the fucking cartoon lab-coat the man always wore. The slightly off-kilter safety goggles that were always on his forehead. The man had to have different lab coats, too, because some had different stains, or tears.
It had to be a fucking joke, Jason thought. That or he was cooking meth. But the man was good. His door had eight different locks, his windows were practically bolted shut and had a one-way tint on them. His walls were sound proofed, and Jason only ever got minimal glances inside of it.
Jason's suspicion for the man jumped when he got hired as the new Chemistry teacher at Gotham Academy. The school Timothy and Damian both currently went to.
So Jason leaned against the hall, right beside his door. He waited, patiently, until Daniel emerged from the stairwell. He was looking down at his severely out-dated phone, carrying a backpack over his shoulder. Jason figured he didn't see him as the man walked closer.
"Any reason you're waiting for me?" Daniel snapped his flip phone closed, looking up at Jason with tired eyes.
"Just waitin' for you, babe." Jason grinned, winking. It was just recon, he told himself. Another part of himself called him a big, fat, fucking liar.
"Oh?" Daniel shifted, raising an eyebrow. A little smirk came to his face and Jason grinned a little wider, leaning towards him. Jason tried not to laugh seeing his rat in his hair, glaring daggers at him.
"I figured I'd do the neighborly thing and welcome you to the building." Jason says.
"Really?" Danny steps closer and Jason feels absolutely feral.
"Well, yeah. There's so much to tell you about this place. Like how the elevator has been out for thirty years. Or the rat on the third floor does a little dance if you give him mozzarella cheese, but won't take pepperoni."
"Why don't you tell me more?" Daniel moves in closer, teasing Jason before ducking under his arm to unlock his door. "I'm Danny Nightingale, by the way."
"You can call me Jay. Or anything you want, really." Jason turns around to him. "Going to invite me in?" He asks.
"What are you? A vampire? I left the door open for a reason." Danny drops his bag by the door, and Jason is filled with a sense of victory. Danny takes off his shoes and Jason is a little caught off guard with how much the shoes are lifted. He does a hand symbol over his chest, and brings his hand to his forehead. He holds his arm out and his rat clambers down and onto the side table he has by the door, scrambling down and further into the apartment.
The apartment is... Surprisingly normal. The loveseat has a hand-crocheted blanket on it with a floral pattern on it. Plants hang from the ceiling, like. A lot of plants. The TV is outdated, with a curved screen and a VCR. A laundry basket sits overflowing next to the couch, and the kitchen is clean and pristine.
Danny steps into the kitchen, starting a kettle with hot water. "Anything I need to know about you Jay?" He asks. Jason gives a little grin watching him half-climb the counter to get to his tea collection. Jason takes note of the collection- a very well stocked kitchen. Several different teas, mostly centered in helping sleeping, relaxation, to fight anxiety.
"Well, I've got a wild family."
Danny scoffs, setting two mugs on the counter. "Don't we all."
"Anything I should know about you, Danny?" Jason asks.
"Nothing that comes to mind." Danny hums. He takes off his lab coat and peels the gloves off his arms. Jason finds himself watching Danny watch him analyze his electrical scarring. Jason takes off his jacket, setting it besides Danny's as he joins Danny in the kitchen. "Nothing to say?"
"I have plenty of my own, trust me." Jason watches Danny pour the water. "This one? My younger brother got a new sword." Jason lifts the bottom edge of his shirt, pointing to the stab wound Damian had given him. "This one, my first time taking off a tire." Jason lifted the shirt to his chest, pointing at the one he got when he was four.
It's a night that Jason finds himself enjoying. Danny fixes breakfast in the morning, and Jason thinks he'd be okay with Danny being around forever. Then thinks about what Roy would say, that he always fell hard and fast.
Then Danny comes back into the bedroom, wearing Jason's shirt, and Jason thinks he's absolutely screwed if this man turns out to be a villain.
