the day had been long, but filled with good times. jeremy had spent the day at tyler’s house, and though they were both twenty-four, they still lived at home. there was no harm, and no foul in doing that, especially since the inseparable duo had just graduated college. yes, it was a little late, but they had both taken a year off after high school. again, they were two peas in a pod, and may as well have been born as brothers. they met in the seventh grade when jeremy transferred over to another middle school in florida after his father had been relocated on business from utah. the change had been awful on jeremy, and to be frank, he wanted to do everything in his power to make the experience as unpleasant for his parents as possible, but after meeting tyler things seemed to calm down, and jeremy was able to have a better time in florida than he would have ever had in utah. florida was now his home, and utah was just a place that he had spent some time in, what with no family there in the first place aside from his parents, he couldn’t exactly call it home anymore. florida was where his parents were, where he was going to be for the rest of his life (hopefully), and where all of his friends were. jeremy’s life was amazing, if he had to say so himself, what with an online marketing degree under his belt as of a few weeks back, and a career opportunity already in the works. he had a pretty great car, great friends, and though he still lived with his parents, the house was downright just as great as the day they had moved into it. jeremy would be looking into his own home once he had a stable income that wasn’t just that of an intern, but even then, his mother cried at the thought of him moving out “too soon”. his father, on the other hand, didn’t care either way, as long as he kept in touch, and though his old man wouldn’t admit it, he would have rather him stayed local than to move somewhere else where they wouldn’t see each other nearly every day.
“hey, pop.” jeremy trudged through the door, his eyes just open enough so he could see. “are ya high?” his father joked with him, but knew damn well that jeremy wouldn’t touch any drug out of fear that he’d become addicted, as his father had been a alcoholic at one point that had been sober now for well over fifteen years. “funny, dad.” rolling his eyes jokingly, jeremy patted his hand against his father’s shoulder as he made his way up the stairs and to his room. apparently, swimming from nearly nine in the morning until seven at night was enough to knock a guy on his ass. tyler’s family had just had a in-ground pool installed and the duo was taking full advantage of it. truthfully, jeremy hadn’t seen much of tyler’s family in some time, what with classes having taken over his life before graduation, but now they were going to be sure to catch up as best they could. their families were both close, even their parents being buds and sharing common interests, but jeremy was an only child, which left tyler’s sister without a matching sidekick. peyton was someone who jeremy considered his own little sister, just from the fact that she was a few years younger than him and was his best friend’s sister. she was a nice girl, but they were always on each other’s nerves as if they were actually related. some of his other friends would talk about how hot she was when tyler wasn’t around, and jeremy would immediately step up and tell them to cool it. he hadn’t ever looked at her in that way. yes, she was absolutely gorgeous, but nothing would have ever went on between the younger girl and jeremy to begin with.
there were small spots of sunburn on his skin that were pretty red, and being brushed by his shirt as he lifted it over his head made them feel even worse. it didn’t matter. what mattered was that he had fun and that his life was finally starting, away from the aspect of school. letting his gaze fall to his window, which faced tyler’s home, he was met with peyton’s room. he hadn’t meant to stare, and he had every intention of looking away, but once he saw her come into view he just couldn’t tear his eyes away from her window. there she stood, in all of her glory, skin showing and all, except for the parts that were covered by her underwear and bra (thank god). she was dancing, and for a second, jeremy couldn’t help but laugh. she looked like she was having a good time, or so he assumed because he always had a good time when he danced around in his underwear, though he knew that if she caught him looking she would think that he was an absolute creep. however, he couldn’t resist picking up his phone and sending her a quick text in which he asked if she always danced nearly naked in front of her window. that wasn’t creepy, right? no, not at all.
