Normal overcompensating by calling Hermie his future boyfriend because he knows Hermie likes Scary more and he probably doesn’t have a chance, pushing Scary to make an apology to Tony when it’s really so he feels like he’s the one Scary’s apologizing to, wanting Scary to feel guilty and hurt because of how hurt she made him feel, trying to hype up Lincoln to make himself feel useful and appreciated, projecting his own jealousy onto Taylor and picking a fight when he knows he’s misdirecting his emotions and that Taylor’s not actually guilty of anything, watching everyone comfort Scary at every turn when he’s also so obviously hurting, feeling like he’ll never be the first pick even in his own family.

And eventually giving up because there’s no point trying to express that he feels like he’s pushed aside to the grass while everyone else is strolling together on the sidewalk, when he’ll never be worth walking on the sidewalk no matter how hard he tries.
