That post that's like "stop writing characters who talk like they're trying to get a good grade in therapy" really blew the door wide open for me about how common it's become for a character's emotional intelligence to not be taken into consideration when writing conflict. I remember the first time I went to therapy I had such a hard time even identifying what I was feeling, let alone had the language to explain it to someone else. Of course there are plenty of people who've never been to therapy a day in their life who are in tune to their emotions. But even they would have some trouble expressing themselves sometimes. You have to take into account there are plenty of people who are uncomfortable expressing themselves and people who think they're not allowed to feel certain ways. It also makes for more interesting conflict to have characters with different levels of understanding.

the answer to “why did they cut this scene” from any Thor movie is most definitely because of time constraints, anything that isn’t directly impacting the story (yes even scenes that have good character work and might impact the story in a character development way) is getting chopped, hope that helps
#i'll admit i may think “why take that out and leave in the interminable fight scenes?” but that's on me for watching an MCU film#the paradox: i would not be in mcu fandom to complain about the mcu if the mcu were actually made to suit my own specific tastes#maybe the film in my head would be better (doubt tbh) but it would also not make eleventy billion dollars and spawn 342 sequels

#looking at my ao3 numbers i def lean towards m/f pairings#there's no great thought behind that i think it pretty much is just your classic bi ��por que no los dos?” thing#(i'm pretending these categories allow for all the characters to be actually bi regardless of who they're kissing in a specific story)#and there's probably some element of “at least there is ONE woman in this story” in there as well#to answer other ppl's comments: it's not that m/f ships are inherently bad there's just more of them about so you get more crap ones#a writer probably had to FIGHT to get an m/m pairing onto film or print so it's less likely to be a “might as well make them kiss” scenario#and non-canon ships always have the advantage that you get to invent all the romance stuff for yourself so it's always to your liking#there is no sarcasm in my desire for media to have enough non-straight pairings that crap low-effort ones become a common problem#i hope one day all humans will have easy and free access to a large number of shite canon ships of their own preferred type <3#polls#tumblr#shipping
