What happens when a browser finds SSL The browser attempts to connect to an SSL-secured site. The browser asks the Web server to identify itself. The server sends a copy of your SSL certificate to the browser. The browser verifies that the SSL certificate is trusted. If it is, it sends a message to the server. The server returns a digitally signed confirmation to initiate an encrypted SSL session. Encrypted data is shared between the browser and the server. Encryption protects data during transmission Web servers and browsers rely on the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) protocol to help users protect their data while transferring through an encrypted channel exclusively for private communications over the public Internet. Each SSL certificate consists of a pair of keys plus verified identification information. When a Web browser (or client) points to a secured site, the server shares the public key with the client to establish an encryption method and a single session key. The client confirms that it recognizes and trusts the SSL certificate issuer. This process is called an "SSL handshake" and initiates a secure session that protects the privacy and integrity of messages. Strong 128-bit encryption can calculate 288 times as many combinations as 40-bit encryption. That means a security that is more than a trillion times stronger. At current computing speeds, a hacker with the time, tools, and motivation to perform an attack using brute force would require a trillion years to hack into a session protected by a SGC-enabled certificate. To enable strong encryption for most site visitors, choose an SSL certificate that enables 128-bit minimum encryption for 99.9% of visitors.

In this publication we will explain in detail how to use organize and modify reports in Salesforce.com or Dummies. Using Salesforce.com reporting tools can save the time and energy of sales managers. With Salesforce.com reports, managers do not have to spend as much time searching for sales data and organizing. In this article, you'll review step-by-step instructions on how to use, modify, create, and organize reports in Salesforce. How much time do you waste each week trying to prepare reports for your manager, your team or yourself? You need to chase the information down, put it in a useful format, and then hope you have felt the data. By the time you've done all this, the information is probably outdated despite your best efforts. Have you ever felt less confident with details or totals?
If this sounds like a familiar problem, you can use reports on salesforce.com to generate updated data analysis to help you measure your business. While you and your teams regularly use salesforce.com to manage your accounts, opportunities, and other customer-related information, you do not have to waste time wondering where to find the data and how to consolidate it-instead, salesforce. And unlike other applications where business users often have to spend precious time relying on more technical people to create their custom reports, you can do it yourself in minutes without geeky programming. Finally, because you'll love the Reports tab, be sure to check out my explanation on how to keep your members organized in easy-to-find folders as your knowledge universe expands. Finding Information All your documents are available from the Reports home page. With information, you can present your data in different formats, select a seemingly infinite number of columns, filter your data and subtotal information, just to name a few resources. And, like other non-sales pages, you can quickly find the details. So, for example, you can go from the Reports homepage to a main report to a main record simply by clicking the links. Navigating the Reports home page When you click the Reports tab, a list of all available documents sorted by folders appears. Salesforce.com comes standard with a set of deformation and predefined folders (as pictured in Figure 15-1) that are commonly used for partnerships, marketing, support, and more. You can not save a custom report to a default folder. You are an administrator, consider creating custom folders for your important functional areas that ultimately override this default folders.
On this page, you can do the following: Click the green arrow on the left side of a folder to hide or show reports for a folder. Click the gray arrows on the right side of a folder to move a folder up or down the page. For example, if you want to see the Lead Reports folder at the top of the page, simply click your arrow above the gray to move the folder one position at a time. To view the report, click the report title. Either the report appears or you see a wizard that you need to follow to generate the report. In Custom Reports, click the Edit, Del, or Export links to edit or delete a report, or export your data to Excel.
Click the Create New Custom Report button to start the report wizard. If you have permission to manage public reports, click the Report Manager button to organize reports. Displaying a report When you click a report title or run a wizard report, a report page is displayed based on the criteria that have been defined. For example, in the Reports for Opportunities and Forecasts folder, click the Oleity Opportunity link. The Opportunity Pipeline report appears, as shown in the example in Figure 15-2. This report is one of the most commonly used standard reports on salesforce.com. A basic report page on salesforce.com is divided into two or three parts: Report Options: This section is at the top of the page. You can use it to filter and perform other operations on a report. For details on reporting options, see "Filtering on a Report" later in this chapter. Report generated: This section shows the report itself. What is visible depends on the build of the report and what you are allowed to see on salesforce.com. See Chapter 17 for more details on sharing. Org Drill Down: You can use this area above the Report Options section to quickly limit results based on the hierarchy of functions. See Chapter 17 for the steps in setting up the role hierarchy. In the Report Generated section, you can click a column header to quickly rewrite your report across the selected column.
