Welcome to Rayllum Mini-Month!

We are pleased to offer the fandom an alternative Rayllum Month event this July. Rayllum Mini-Month will feature 4 prompts—1 per week, with a suggested posting date of Wednesday each week. (Don’t worry—we’ll be reblogging all month, in case you fall behind 😉). Use #rayllum mini-month 2025 when you post your work…and check out the tag to see everyone’s fantastic fanworks!

Fanworks of any and all kinds are encouraged as a part of this event, including mature and explicit works. We anticipate fanfic, fanart, meta, edits, playlists...or anything else you can come up with! Please be sure—as always!—to appropriately tag your works with warnings for potentially triggering content so that everyone can choose what fanworks they want to engage with.

Our aim is to provide another space to celebrate Rayllum Month, not to discourage participation in any existing fandom events. Not so sure about creating something yourself? Cheer on participants with comments, reblogs, and support!

I didn’t take it from anywhere, so maybe I’m the origin or a least AN origin, haha. I did first write it in Downtime in Wartime, but I’ve referenced it since in other fanfics. It just fits her, on both a physical and metaphorical level!

“I am not a pigeon!”

“No, it’s a metaphor.” Ezran explained, as if that was an explanation.

“That’s not what a metaphor is! I’m not a metaphorical pigeon either! I just have wings! That’s not enough to make me a metaphorical pigeon!” Uncultured swains, the lot of them!

“Oh, Callum said you were a pigeon because you liked to root around in the gutter and also make annoying noises that interrupts private conversations. Nothing to do with the wings.”

I tweaked my own arc 3 character design tool and made Rayllum from my cottage cuddles verse, wherein they’re mutually pining housemates in modern day rural Scotland. Rayla is a pub worker/physical therapy student, Callum dropped out of art school and is working as a meals-on-wheels delivery driver, it’s a very lowkey au.

Nice! I like that you picked one of the more flamboyant hairstyles for Callum!

I want him to adopt some elven aestetics in future seasons, when he's no longer high mage (or prince?) of Katolis, he was very onboard with the Silvergrove life XD

I messed around with @numptypylon 's Arc 3 Callum & Rayla design game on meiker! I had sooo much fun with these, it was hard to pick from all the options! I really liked Rayla's purple shirt, but I liked the contrast with the teal one better.

I imagine they're ambassadors for Everkynd, travelling all over Xadia and the human kingdoms and learning more about primal magic as they go (and maybe getting into shenanigans while investigating Claudia's whereabouts on the down-low).

I just saw some art where it made me really like Rayla’s potential hairdo evolution going from a bun to a high ponytail, but now I’m wondering at how Callum’s couldn’t possibly change…?

The only thing I can really think of is something even more Goku-esque, which I do think is pretty hilarious in its own right…

I just upgraded the rayllum arc3 design games I made to add some more hairstyles for both Callum and Rayla, so high ponytail (and many others) is now an option for Rayla, and various fun hairstyles like manbun is an option for Callum! I do like the high ponytail idea too!

And I added more elaborate markings because if Rayla let Callum paint them for her we know he would be extra about it.

Chapter 26 (S5E8)

“Stop him,” Ezran sobbed. “It’s all my fault!” Ez… no- “Stop your captain from hurting the others, please-“

“I can’t, I… I’m sorry. But I can…”

A lock sounded, and there was rustling sound somewhere close, and then a scratchy, blessed warm thing was dropped over her, flopping onto her face.

The lock clicked again.

She tried to catch the edges of the blanket, draw it around herself, but slipped away not like sand between her fingers, but... like  shards of glass... and not like between either.

How did you get anything done when the part that was yours, was you… was so dull and the edges of the world outside it so sharp.

So cold.

So hard to hear words and so easy to hear pain.

Muffled screams, far away, shackles and locked doors and bare deck and him, between them.

Sniffles, closer, but every bit as out of reach.

Chapter 25 (S5E7)

“Does that answer your question?” Callum glared at Nyx, gesturing pointedly at Rayla, currently bent over the railing, heaving. There was a bloody time and place for everything Nyx, and this time, when Rayla was so miserable, was decidedly not it.

“I mean… kinda, yeah, that’s what I was saying! It is a mighty cute little piece of ass. And she’s 18 now, huh?”

“What?!”

“Relax. Not interested. No ass in the world can make up for the whole-ass mess you’ve got on your hands there. I’m not in the market for anything so…” Nyx made a face. “-emotionally high maintenance. You… do know that there are cute asses in the world that aren’t attached to so much-”

“I know. I’m not interested.”

“Oh honey, I wasn’t talking about me.”

“Neither was I. Honey.”

“Careful now. Don’t want your other lovebug hearing that, do ya?”

“It would be fine; Rayla is very capable in the art of sarcasm and also… not my lovebug.”

“Oh ho, now? Have you told her that?”

“She told me,” Callum scoffed, suddenly angry all over again that she actually hadn’t told him that, and yet they weren’t- “So I’m tentatively assuming that she knows.”

“Oh ho? So she broke up with you and you’re still adventuring together, risking your lives for each other, making moon eyes at each other at every opportunity… ah, to be young and in love and a dysfunctional garbage fire of collective awkwardness of such radiance as to light up the heavens!”
