I will give D&D, say, 2% of my thanks for getting me into reading ASOIAF (the other 98% very much go to all those people on tumblr for making gifs of Jaime & Brienne scenes and sharing their bookquotes) but. BUT

Show!Brienne's scenes with Pod make me so angry. How did they read the same books as I did and arrive at Brienne being super rude to Pod (and Hot Pie as well, though my guess is that they saw Hot Pie as laughing stock anyway)?

In the books Brienne, when she pays for a room in an inn, she always lets Pod sleep in that room, too.

She trusts him, too:

"I want to come too. I'm a squire. I can fight." "That's why I want you to stay here. There may be outlaws in these woods. We dare not leave the horses unprotected." AFFC, Brienne IV

Yes, obviously this is a pretext to some point, because it might be dangerous for him, cause he is a kid and not too well trained with a sword, but see the way she phrases it? She does not not deny that he can fight - she says that is very reason why she wants him, someone she trusts, with the horses.

You know what Brienne does at the harbour in Maidenpool?

It's not like she stopped for a coffee and the coffee came with one of those one-bite-of-the-cheapest-chocolate-imaginable bars, the ones cafés buy in bulk and put on the saucer of every hot beverage and she threw that at Pod cause she wasn't going to eat it anyway.

She went to the fancy boulangerie and bought him a super fancy and tasty pastry, hand-made with real butter and whatever.

They have this scene:

Did they read it and think "Ah yes, she says he will be in physical pain if he stays with her so it obvs means she wants to hurt him" or what?

She is cautious and I guess in the books she comes off as a bit brash because of that sometimes, but hey, who can fault her on that given her history. But. But she treats Pod so sweetly.

And after Meribald's "Broken men"-Speech:

She gets it. She gets what he was telling them and is caring enough to ask Meribald about it.
