#TravelTuesday Diary | Facebook memories reminded me today about our first trip to @bigbendnps two years ago and remembered that I never got to post my impromptu 4th of July trip to the park last summer with @lucvzs and @itsgabeleal . We hiked the South Rim Trails for 8 hours, drove down Ross Maxwell Scenic Drive, visited Marfa, Texas and other small Texas cities. A different kind of vacation update for y'all! During our flight back to the Philippines a little over a week ago, my hometown of Sanchez Mira experienced its worst flooding in history. It occurred in the middle of the night while many were fast asleep. Unbeknownst to many, the town was getting submerged in both ocean and river water. Some were able to flee to higher grounds or neighbors with higher floors but many were stranded and had to be rescued. Many homes, bridges, and livelihoods were destroyed during this unprecedented flash flooding. Many are still struggling to find basic needs such as water, food, and clothing. In this post are some pictures of the damages after the water has started receding. Up to this day, the rain hasn't let on. SO, I have partnered up with Rural Health Unit Sanchez Mira with the help of Mrs. Florizel Tambio to help raise funds for those affected by the flooding. In the spirit of the upcoming holidays, I would like to ask for your help to bring a little bit of joy and hope to these residents especially to the ones that have lost their homes, livelihood and are still stranded in the more remote areas of the town. To ease the donation process, Rural Health Unit Sanchez Mira has agreed to make me a liaison for accepting donations on their behalf. Then, Mrs. Florizel Tambio will spearhead the distribution of goods and services locally to ensure that all donations are actually received by the affected residents.
