SHROOMBOOM - How can you not have a smile on your face when you say that:) I've had a chance now to try this drink for a bit now, and I can say that I love it! It gives just the right amount of pep in your step without making you jittery. I've decided I like to fancy it up a bit for even better flavor by adding cinnamon and a touch of oat milk, making it a creamy, delicious treat. I do not recommend drinking this too late in the day - there is coffee, aka caffeine, so if coffee keeps you awake at night, make this a day drink. I like to have it right around lunch time to avoid that mid-afternoon slump and get me to my evening workout with energy. Both Chris and I tried this and we both really like it. Had a lot of fun designing this Mid-Century Modern Desert Christmas Collection. It's funny what inspires us, for me, I dream of patterns and shapes, and random things pop out to me and my mind visualizes them into a pattern. Scroll through to see the inspiration for the Abstract Christmas Cactus pattern - it's a Pilates chair spring mechanism. These sit in the middle of my pilates class and I'm constantly staring at them. As I was imagining and designing this collection with cacti as a thematic element, these chairs helped me create a fun, simple repeat pattern for the collection. For other designs, I pulled elements from previous designs (the flamingos and the cactus Christmas tree), and created entirely new designs - the trailer design was inspired by Mom's vintage yellow trailer and desert trailer life. The last two designs I created were the the starburst pattern and the ornament pattern. Sometimes when I'm not sure where I'm going, or I don't have a 'hard' inspiration, I just doodle. Both the starburst and the ornament were created out of me doodling on my #iPad in @Procreate using the symmetry tool and some fun paint brushes for the ornament. Turns out, the ornament pattern is one of my favorites. Funny how that works. Last year, I made this fun Cactus Christmas Tree because out here in San Diego, in the desert climate, it just seemed apropos. This year, I've been inspired by this same design to make a Desert Christmas Collection. I built upon the Cactus Christmas Tree and added some presents and other Christmasy items like a Santa Hat, then made a seamless pattern. Yesterday, I posted my Christmas Flamingo Illustration and pattern - FalalaLamingo. Keeping with the mid-century, Palm Springs, retro vibe I think I'm going to work on a vintage trailer Illustration and pattern next. I'm working on Desert Holiday Collection in a Palm Springs mid-century style. I just had to include Flamingos in my collection, so I took my flamingos from my previous Illustration and added some fun Christmas elements - one Flamingo tangled in the Christmas lights with a bow on its head and the other Flamingo with reindeer antlers and ornaments. This was a fun illustration to draw. After the Illustration was put together, I created a pattern piece as well.
