A lot fewer people have been walking away from Omelas ever since we swapped out our load-bearing tortured child for a more efficient model. Now instead of one child being kept in perpetual pain and misery we have it spread out between twelve kids at a time, each of whom only have to spend about a week feeling kind of itchy and tired

@swordquest I'm doing alright for the most part. I was really tired and congested with a sore throat for the first couple days and have been slowly but surely getting better for the last week or so. Right now I feel mostly fine aside from some mild but stubborn congestion.
Hey guess what I got covid :/

Some fanart of Dungeon Meshi (probably my favorite manga thus far) starring Laios and the Winged Lion crossed with Disney's Aladdin.

I finished reading Dungeon Meshi last year and loved it, though it was hard to express my enjoyment with others outside of dedicated discord groups or subreddits. Which is why I am so very grateful for the existence of the anime (which I'm also watching and enjoying) for bringing Dungeon Meshi series into the limelight, because now I've been seeing more and more fanart and text posts about it ever since. It's honestly one of the best manga I've read in a long time, and one of the most interesting and fleshed-out takes on the "fantasy RPG/dungeon crawler" settings I've seen yet, with both the characters and the dungeon itself being multilayered and more complex than they first appear. So it's great to see it getting the recognition it so thoroughly deserves.

"Bohemian Rhapsody" suddenly becomes a song that just roasts the hell out of a guy named Steve:
I'm just a poor boy, nobody loves Steve
He's just a poor boy from a poor family
--
So you think you can stone Steve and spit in my eye?
So you think you can love Steve and leave Steve to die?
Oooooooh, baby, can't do this to Steve, baby
Just gotta get out, just gotta get right outta here
--
Nothing really matters,
Anyone can see,
Nothing really matters,
Nothing really matters...
to Steeeeeeeeeeave
Unpopular opinion: replacing "me" in a song lyric with "Steve" is always funny.

"You come across an enchanted VOREST! Slavering, hungry Voreticulture as far as the eye can eat! I, The Vorelock, have created the Vorest you see be-vore you! Dare you enter my magical realm???"
It's fun when somebody clearly has a particular kink and doesn't know it, but it's really fun when somebody clearly has a particular kink and won't shut up about how awful and uncool that kink is. Buddy, you just did a whole unprompted bit about how piss kink is cringe, then saw a photo of a lady holding a garden hose in a suggestive fashion and immediately lost the ability to speak – who exactly are we fooling here?

the price gouging in fast food these days is fucking ridiculous but personally I feel it's a good thing that Five Guys has always been pricier than most because if it was cheaper I'd eat there more often and my arteries would look like mozzarella sticks by now

You're telling me I should treat people with respect regardless of what interests, aesthetics, quirks, kinks, or identities they have? Well then who can I treat like shit based on some arbitrary trait of theirs?

i hate it when i cant even write a poem about something because its too obvious. like in the airbnb i was at i guess it used to be a kids room cause you could see the imprint of one little glow in the dark star that had been missed and painted over in landlord white. like that's a poem already what's the point

This is one of my favorite cutscenes in games, mainly because of the line delivery. Both Wheatley and GLaDOS are great here, but Wheatley's rage from being called a moron sounds so incredibly visceral and genuine, and for good reason: He's not simply angry at being insulted, he's angry because what GLaDOS says is true- Wheatley was designed specifically to be a moron who always made bad decisions and stupid ideas, and despite his denial, he knows that he was created to be a moron and he hates it.
And why wouldn't he? Imagine knowing that you're not very smart and that it makes you mess up and do really stupid things all the time. All the decisions you make are terrible and make things worse, and you're well aware that you're screwing up and making a big mess at every turn, but you can't do anything about it, because any attempt to improve yourself, or trying to succeed at anything, is automatically doomed to fail because you literally have no choice but to make the wrong choice.
Wheatley's basically forced to watch himself screw everything up all the time, so he denies it every time to try and save face... but of course, denying the obvious is yet another terrible idea. In the end, he can never win, and he knows it. At least the other spheres seem blissfully unaware of their own single-mindedness; poor Wheatley is entirely sentient and thus has a front-and-center view of his perpetual forced stupidity.
